Unit1 Reading and Thinking 名师教学设计
文本分析∶
阅读文本是一篇典型的知识性小品文（informative essay），主要针对西方绘画的主题提供相关知识。文本结构为总-分结构——第一段是引言，介绍文章的主题和写作目的; 其余为主体内容，按时间顺序分四个阶段描述了中世纪、文艺复兴、印象派和现代艺术时期的绘画风格、杰出画家及其代表作品。主体部分每一时期的介绍都配有独立的小标题，十分清晰地展示了文章的脉络，并与标题中的history一词呼应。
教学思路：
本课的主题是"学习西方绘画艺术的不同风格"（Learn about different painting styles in Western art）。学生通过阅读了解西方绘画艺术发展历程中几个重要的历史时期（中世纪、文艺复兴、印象派、现代艺术）、代表画家及其作品，掌握不同时期的绘画艺术风格与特点，同时引导他们探究推动和影响西方绘画艺术发展变化的重要因素，学会用时间轴（timeline）绘制思维导图并标注各个时期西方绘画作品的典型风格，并能结合所学内容，判断艺术作品的时期、分享和交流自己喜爱的西方绘画风格，探讨艺术的内涵（What is art）。
