Every time you’re online, you are bombarded by pictures, articles, links and videos trying to tell their story. Unfortunately, not all of these stories are true. Sometimes they want you to click on another story or advertisement, other times they want to upset people for political reasons. These stories spread quickly, and the result is fake news.
To recognize the fake news, read these tips and don’t get fooled!
1. Check the source
Look at the website where the story comes from. Does it look real Is the text well written Are there a variety of (各种各样的) other stories or is it just one story Fake news websites often use addresses that sound like real newspapers, but don’t have many real stories about other topics. If you aren’t sure, click on the ‘About’ page and look for a clear description of the organization.
2. Watch out for fake photos
Many fake news stories use images (图像) that are Photoshopped or taken from an unrelated website. Sometimes, if you just look closely at an image, you can see if it has been changed. Or use a tool like Google Reverse Image search. It will show you if the same image has been used in other contexts.
3. Check the story is in other places
Look to see if the story you are reading is on other news websites that you know and trust. If you do find it on many other websites, then it probably isn’t fake (although there are some exceptions), as many big news organizations try to check their sources before they publish a story.
4. Look for other signs
There are other techniques that fake news uses. These include using ALL CAPS (大写) and lots of ads that pop up when you click on a link. Also, think about how the story makes you feel. If the news story makes you angry, it’s probably designed to make you angry.
If you know these things about online news, and can apply (应用) them in your everyday life, then you have the control over what to read, what to believe and most importantly what to share. If you find a news story that you know is fake, the most important advice is: don’t share it!
10.The text says fake news ________.
A.is real and well written B.uses the pictures that haven’t been changed
C.is on other big news websites that you trust D.includes using lots of ads when you click on a link
11.If we read fake news, we should ________.
A.believe the story B.report it to the police
C.make a note of it for reference D.not show it to other people online
12.The purpose of this article is ________.
A.to complain about fake news B.to please readers with fake news
C.to explain how to find out fake news D.to encourage readers to share fake news
13.The best title for the text is ________.
A.The Danger of Reading Fake News B.The Tips for Recognizing Fake News
C.The Importance of Reading Fake News D.The Advantages of Recognizing Fake News

Is it a bird Is it a plane No, it’s your online shopping! Imagine a world where your shopping was dropped off on your doorstep by a delivery(投递)drone. Well, many companies are working to make this idea a reality. Among Amazon and UPS are just some of the front runners in the race to have the first ever business drone delivery service.
Pros:
Fast. Delivery drones can cut down the time of delivery to just 30 minutes.
Environmentally friendly. Companies like UPS hove stated that the use of drones would cut down on waste gas.
Cheap. Though exact prices for drone delivery aren’t known, companies such as Amazon suggest deliveries could be as cheap as $1.
Emergencies. Drones can fly straight to areas they’re needed without using any roads.
From Dispatch(分派)to Doorstep:
Usually products available for drone delivery will be stored somewhere nearby. Customers will choose these products through shopping apps or websites. The suggested weight to be carried is no more than 2.3 kilograms. Once the products are put into the drone, it will take off from the dispatch center. It will fly below 120m and avoid any “No Fly Zones" like airports for safety reasons. Before landing, a pod will be plated in the customer’s garden for the drone’s landing. After the drone puts down its product, it will rise to return to the dispatch center. So a drone delivery could one day be just a touch of app with your finger.
Cons
Weather like strong winds, lightning storms and heavy rainfall may influence deliveries.
Dispatch centers will have to be built within certain distance.
Drones might be unable to land safely in high-rise buildings.
Something will have to be done to make sure about the safety of the products and of people walking below.
The future of flying transportation

②only need to pay a little
③get your product at any place
④ have to send the drone back yourself
⑤get your product in less than an hour

18.Suppose a law for drone delivery is going to be made, which of the following should be considered according to the passage
A.Customers should only order products on apps.
B.Once products are delivered, they cannot be returned.
C.We should always put the safety of products in the first place.
D.Drones should never fly higher than 120m for safety reasons.
19.According to the passage and the information below, who will most probably get the product by drone after ordering

Making Music with Water
Have you ever tried making music with glasses or bottles filled with water I bet your favorite band hasn’t. Experiment with your own special sounds by turning glasses of water into instruments, make some cool music and find out how it works.
What you’ll need:
Five or more drinking glasses or glass bottles.
Water.
Wooden stick such as a pencil.
Instructions:
Line the glasses up next to each other and fill them with different amounts(量) of water. The first should have just a little water while the last should be almost full, and the ones in between should have a little more than the first.
Hit the glass with the least amount of water and watch the sound, then hit the glass with the most water, which makes the higher sound
Hit the other glasses and see what noise they make. See if you can get a tune going by hitting the glasses in a certain order.
What’s happening
Each of the glasses will have a different tone when you hit with the pencil. The glass with the most water will have the lowest tone while the glass with the least water will have the highest. Small vibrations(震动) are made when you hit the glass, and this creates sound waves which travel through the water. More water means slower vibrations and a deeper tone.

It’s a popular belief that fish can’t remember anything for longer than seven seconds. It may seem sad to think that they don’t remember what they’ve eaten or where they’ve been, and they don’t know you or any of their friends—every moment in their life would be like seeing the world for the first time.
But don’t be so quick to feel sorry for them. A recent study has found that fish have much better memories than we used to think. In fact, certain kinds of fish can even remember events from as long as 12 days ago, BBC reported.
In the study, researchers from MacEwan University in Canada trained a kind of fish called African cichlids(丽鱼科鱼)to go to a certain area of their tank(鱼缸)to get food. They then waited for 12 days before putting them back in the tank again.
This suggested that they could remember their past experiences. Researchers used computer software to watch the fish’s movements. They found that after such a long break the fish still went to the same place where they first got food.
In fact, scientists had been thinking for a long time that African cichlids might have a good memory. An earlier study showed that they behaved offendedly in front of certain fish, perhaps because they remembered their past fights. But until the latest findings, there was no clear evidence(证据).
“If fish are able to remember that a certain area has safe food, they will be able to go back to that area without putting their lives in danger,” lead researcher Trevor Hamilton told Live Science.
25.From the first three paragraph, the writer develops the article by________.
A.giving different opinions B.making a survey
C.showing the same feeling D.sharing some stories
26.The underlined word “offendedly” has the closest meaning to ________.
A.sadly B.madly C.silently D.properly
27.What Trevor Hamilton said in the last paragraph tells us ________.
A.it’s easy for fish to find a place with safe food
B.it’s dangerous for fish to fight for their friends
C.it’s necessary for fish to remember their home
D.it’s important for fish to have a good memory

There are many different ways to solve a problem. One way is to be creative. People often think creative thinking is just for artists and designers, but this is not true. Dr. Edward de Bono, an expert in creative thinking and problem solving, has shown the world that using creativity to solve problems is very useful in business and in our communities, and will continue to be so in the future.
One example of creative thinking is the solution to a parking problem in a town center. In the areas close to stores, people can only park for 20 minutes. There are parking meters where people pay to park in these areas. However, the problem is that many people leave their cars there for longer than 20 minutes. Dr. Edward de Bono’s solution is to make a rule that all cars parked in these areas must keep their headlights on. Of course, drivers will want to return to their cars before their car batteries (蓄电池) die.
According to Dr. de Bono, people will need to use creative thinking more often in the future. To help people think more creatively, he designed the “Six Thinking Hats” system(系统). The system helps people think about a problem in different ways in order to find a solution. In the system, there are six imaginary hats of different colors. Each hat symbolizes a different way of thinking. For example, the white hat helps people consider the facts. The black hat is the most logical(有逻辑的) and helps people consider why a possible solution may not work. So, next time you have a problem in your community, think about it creatively, from different perspectives, and see what ideas you have.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has already come to an end, and Chinese athletes (运动员) have made great achievements. But how will the stadiums (场馆) be used after the Olympics
The designers have already considered that question in their designs (设计). The plan is to let the stadiums serve common people and increase their interest in winter sports. Just as one of the designers of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics said, “The stadiums can not only serve professional athletes in the games, but also serve the public after the games. ”
For example, the professional ice race lanes (车道) for athletes are 121 meters high and are not fit for amateurs. So the National Ski and Sleigh Center has kept a special lane for common sport-lovers. The height of the lane is about 40 meters. This can make sure they will stay safe.
The National Ski Jumping Center in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province will continue being open to the public for skiing in winter and jogging in summer. In fact, people can make use of the stadiums all year round. On the top of the center, people can walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is also a standard football field that can hold 6,000 people. Even concerts and cultural fairs can be held there as well.
Time will tell whether the stadiums can be really made good use of after, the Olympic Games. In China, 300 million people have already taken part in ice and snow sports because of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Hopefully, that number will continue to rise with plans like these. After all, snow and ice sports belong not only to talented professional athletes, but also to everyone interested in them.

Ben Underwood was a normal young boy. He loved playing basketball, riding his bike, listening to music with his friends and playing video games. But in one way, Ben was different from most other boys-he was blind. However, Ben had a special talent (天赋). He didn’t have eyes, but he could still ‘see’.
Ben was born on 26 January 1992. For the first two years of his life, Ben was a happy and healthy baby. He had a normal life, living with his mother and two older brothers in California. However, when Ben was two years old, his life changed. In 1994, he was taken to the hospital because he had problems with his eyes. The doctors looked at his eyes and told his mother the bad news-Ben had cancer. After a few months, he had an operation to remove (去除) the cancer.
