March 2 is Old Stuff (物品) Day. You must have some old stuff around. And today is all about enjoying it. Because what’s better than finding something really great from days gone by
It’s so easy to forget things you have. And that’s not just the things in your home — in the age of new information, we can have so many things easily. Today is all about remembering the things we sometimes leave behind.
We’ve learned to value (重视) what age can bring to things. Wines, for example, are more valuable (宝贵的) and tastier as they grow older. It’s certain that old things still have their uses or charm (魅力). People today will pay a pretty penny for stamps, toys, video games, books, coins, and clothes of yesterday.
You can really get into the charm of old things by visiting a junk shop (旧货店). Another person’s old stuff could be your new stuff! Old stuff could become a great gift for someone else, or you could always send your old things to a charity (慈善) shop. If you’re free, you could turn your old things like old clothes into new ones with just a little change.
Today could be a good day to visit your older family. You could ask your grandparents to tell you stories about family history, their childhood and their youth. Learn about what was going on in the world when they were growing up.
Most of all, remember that today’s new stuff will one day be old stuff.

B. find out the importance of study
C. remember family history
D. get on well with neighbors

I went to my first music festival — We Love Green. It was held over a weekend in Paris. Like most music festivals, it had wonderful singers and music. However, there was something special about this one. You see, this was a green festival!
From the food to the stalls (摊位), everything was as environmentally friendly as possible. The festival was powered by solar energy (由太阳能供电). There were specially labeled bins (贴有标签的垃圾桶) so that the waste could be used again after the festival. Free fresh water was provided for everyone so that guests didn’t need to buy drinks in plastic (塑料的) bottles. There were many stalls for everyone, from little children to the old.
This seems like such a great idea, to make something fun and not cause great pollution to the environment. I have discovered that there are more events similar to this across the world! I really hope that there will be more events like We Love Green. These environmentally friendly practices tell people being green doesn’t mean being boring. It can be great fun. As a result, more people may be encouraged to consider the role they play in environmental protection.

A. He ran a food stall.
B. He traveled across the city.

Halloween is a fun holiday for kids in the United States. It started hundreds of years ago. Today, children celebrate this day by dressing up in scary or humorous costumes. They go to some Halloween parties and go door to door for “trick or treat”. When children go for “trick or treat”, they carry a bag and go from house to house. They knock on doors asking for a treat (some candies). They say that if they don’t get a treat, they will play a trick on the person. It is a tradition, but parents still need to teach their children to be safe.
