1. When 所引导的时间状语可以指时间点, 也可以指时间段;动词可以是终止性动词，也可以是延续性动词。 While所引导的时间状语只指时间段，动词必须是延续性动词。

2. 由when引导的的时间状语从句中，如果主句用过去进行时、从句用一般过去时，则表示一个动作正在进行的时候另一个动作突然发生了，强调后一个动作的突然性。

3. 当主句和从句的动作都是延续的或同时发生的，两句都用过去进行时的时候，多用while引导。
