Imagine finding a job where you can put together everything important to you. I’ve managed to have a career that does just that. My name is Ronald Green and I’m a fashion designer.
My training as a creative person began when I was a little boy. I was born and spent my early childhood in Lax Kw’alaams. It was from my mother that I inherited (经遗传获得) the love for and the connection to the history and traditions of my people. My earliest works are reflective of many traditional symbols and as I acquired new skills, I translated these into fashion designs.
I’ve always been interested in the use of images and natural items in the making of ceremonial clothing. At the University of Victoria, I studied many techniques traditional to my culture. I created work with images of my childhood, using shell buttons and Melton wool. I also experimented with other techniques that are modern and not usual to my traditional roots. Finally, I developed my own style for these images. I’m proud to say many of my works decorate galleries and holiday spots in my country.
I find inspiration in the natural world—a swimming whale, a singing bird etc. I also get new ideas from respectable artists who have created their own interpretation of their First Nations culture such as Bill Reid and Norval Morrisseau.
When I create my designs, the greatest inspiration comes from the person who commissions (委托) the piece. I want all the elements of the person who will wear my clothes to come together in the piece. Who is that person What images can reflect his personality All these forces come together to assist me in the design of the perfect piece.
24.How does the author develop his design style
A.By learning from his mother. B.By appreciating works in various galleries.
C.By creating ceremonial clothes. D.By combining convention and modernness.
25.Why does the author mention Bill Reid and Norval Morrisseau
A.To express his respect for them. B.To introduce First Nations culture.
C.To show a way for him to get inspired. D.To explain their understanding of art.
26.Which contributes most to the author’s having exciting new ideas
A.His client. B.His culture. C.Natural objects. D.Traditional symbols.
27.What is the text
A.A self-judgement. B.A public call. C.A career review. D.A self-statement.

Everybody hates rats. But in the earthquake capitals of the world-Japan, Los Angeles, Turkey - rats will soon be man’s new best friends.
What happens after an earthquake We send in rescue dogs. Why Because they can smell people. Dogs save lives. They help rescuers to find living people. But dogs are big and they can’t get into small spaces. So now a new research project is using a smaller animal to save lives: the rat.
How does it work First, the rat is trained to smell people. When this happens, the rat’s brain gives a signal. This is sent to a small radio on its back, and then the rescuers follow the radio signals. When the rat’s brain activity jumps, the rescuers know that someone is alive. The rat has smelled that person.
Although there are already robots which can do this job, rats are better. Christian Linster at Cornell University, New York, says, “Robots’ noses don’t work well when there are other smells around. Rats are good at that.” Rats can also see in the dark. They are cheaper and quicker to train than dogs, and unlike robots, they don’t need electricity!
The “rat project” is not finished, but Julie Ryan of International Rescue Corps in Scotland says, “It would be fantastic. A rat could get into spaces we couldn’t get to, and a rat would get out if it wasn’t safe.” Perhaps for the first time in history, people will be happy to see a rat in a building (but only after an earthquake, of course).
28.In the world earthquake capitals, rats will become popular because they can .
A.get into small spaces B.take the place of man’s rescue jobs
C.find food for survivors trapped in buildings D.find the position of survivors trapped in buildings
29.From the third paragraph we know rescuers can judge a person is alive by .
A.the noise made by the rat B.the rat’s unusual behaviour
C.the signal sent by the radio on the rat D.the smell given off by the person trapped
30.After reading the passage we know that now .
A.people still use dogs and robots in rescue work
B.the “rat project” has been completed already
C.rats have replaced dogs in searching for people
D.people are happy to see a rat in a building
31.The main idea of the passage is about_______in an earthquake.
A.dos and don’ts B.the role rats will play
C.ways of rescuing people D.the reason for not using dogs
D
In recent years, researchers of Cornell University’s Food and Brand Lab are studying how environmental factors influence many Americans to unnoticeably eat too much. Many people wrongly believe that factors like hunger or boredom and depression are the main causes of overeating, but their research has shown otherwise. It is thought that we overeat if the food is good or if we’re really hungry. In reality, those are two of the last things that determine how much we eat.
In one experiment, the researcher placed jars of candies in workers’ offices for a month. Then, he moved the candies 1.8 m away. The office workers ate five more candies each day when the jar was closer to them, equaling an additional 125 calories a day. It does not sound too bad, but add that up over a year and you will have gained 5.4 kg. “If something is visible, every time we see it, we have to make a decision: to eat it or not ” the researcher explained.
In the other experiment, moviegoers were given five-day-old popcorn, some in medium-size buckets, some in large buckets. The researcher found that moviegoers who had the larger buckets ate 53 percent more, despite its unpleasant taste. He believes that the distraction of the movie and hearing others eat the popcorn persuade people to keep eating.
The findings in other researches have shown that we tend to eat more when we use larger dishes, eat in front of the television, or dine with someone who eats a lot. Researchers of the lab advise a gradual approach in changing eating habits. People can cut a couple of hundred calories a day by doing things such as avoiding open food dishes at the office, using smaller serving bowls, sitting next to the slowest eater and being the last one to start eating.
32.What is the truth shown by the study
A.We eat more when the food is good. B.People tend to eat a lot when they dine out.
C.Feeling depressed leads us to overeat. D.Hunger is not the key factor in overeating.
33.What can we learn from the two experiments
A.People turn to more candies for more energy. B.Office workers eat more candies due to visibility.
C.Moviegoers eat more popcorn because it is tasty. D.People keep eating popcorn to enjoy the movie.
34.What is suggested in changing eating habits
A.Dining with slim persons. B.Eating while watching films
C.Using smaller dishes. D.Starting eating earlier.
35.What is the purpose of the text
A.To display a research process. B.To instruct how to do research experiments.
C.To warn against overeating. D.To advise being a mindful eater.

One noon, Mark knocked at the door, saying, “Take the letter.” Then, a little girl answered from inside, “I’m coming.” But after 3 minutes, no one came. Mark, the postman, said again, “Please hurry. I have to go to the next place.”
The girl, Jane, replied, “Sir, put the letter under the door. I’m coming. But it’ll take more time.” The old postman replied, “No, I’m waiting. It’s a registered letter. So your signature is needed.”
After a long time, the door open. Mark was angry and was about to shout at the girl. But when the door opened, he was shocked to see a little girl who had no legs. He immediately had great pity for her. He quietly gave her the letter, took her signature and left.
The little girl often lived alone in her house. Her mother wasn’t in this world. And her father used to work far away. He wasn’t rich and could not buy the girl prostheses(假肢). To take care of her, her aunt stayed with her every night. But she lived alone during the day.
In about two months, whenever mail came, Mark would knock and call Jane. Then he’d wait patiently at the door. Gradually, interaction and attachment(依恋) grew between them. And they learned more about each other.
Jane noticed Mark used to come barefoot(赤脚) to deliver mail. The rainy season came. One day, when Mark left after delivering the letter, his footprints were left on the wet soil. Jane came out with a piece of paper, put it on the footprints and took down the picture of his feet. Then she handed her aunt the pocket money she had saved, and asked her to get shoes of that size and keep them in the house.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右。2. 请按如下格式作答。
Days later, Jane heard the old postman knock on her door.

66.Dear Lucy,
How are things going with you Do you still stay up very late every night I'm writing to share my ideas on how you can live a healthy life.
First of all, I think it's a good idea to eat more fruits instead of snacks. Also, you need to get rid of the habit of drinking cola only. Why not drink more water If you spend less time on your smart phone, you can have more time to get together with friends. What's more, don't you think doing sports often can make you look well-built and feel energetic at the same time
All in all, a healthy life style makes us healthy, wealthy and wise in the future. Hopefully you can follow my advice and make a change from now on.
67. Days later, Jane heard the old postman knock on her door. Smiling, she opened the door and took the mail from Mark. Then she handed him a box, saying, “This is a gift for you.” Mark opened the box, seeing a pair of new shoes. He couldn’t believe Jane was concerned about him. Mark was moved to tears. He thanked her and left. “She saw me barefoot and gave me new shoes. But how will I be able to give her legs ” he thought to himself.
“I can’t give her legs, but I can give her prostheses,” Mark suddenly thought, and decided to buy. He quickly went back home and took all the money he had saved for years. Then he returned to Jane’s house. Mark offered to take Jane to town to buy prostheses. Jane couldn’t believe her ears, but she declined. Mark was so determined that eventually she agreed to go. When Jane wore prostheses and walked around, they were so glad about each other’s gift, which brought great warmth and hope.

W: Yesterday, I went to a place called Sidelli with my family. It was really interesting. On the morning, we visited a theater. It was built 2,000 years ago beside the sea and people used to watch plays there in the open air. There used to be an old fishing village nearby. After that, we had a guided tour. Rather than go to the old palace, which is full of tourists, our guide took us up a hill and showed us around what’s left of a library. Most of it had fallen down, but it still had a fantastic atmosphere. We then took a bus into the countryside for lunch, and we ate next to a waterfall. Afterwards, we took a walk from there to a lake. In the afternoon, we chose to go on one of two different factory tours. One factory made pots and plates, which sounded dull to me, and one produced carpets. That was the one we went on. There were lots of traditional designs, all made by local people. It was Amazing. That was the last thing we did that day.
