A short time ago,a park in Selwood,England looked terrible.The lake water was dirty, the seats were broken and the place was full of rubbish(垃圾).
But now the park looks quite different,thanks to Michael Chambers,a 16-year-old student.Michael started a group called Park Rescue.Volunteers of the group used their free time to clean the park.They took away the rubbish and started cleaning the lake.They fixed a lot of the seats and bought some new tables.They also planted some flowers and about 60 young trees.
Michael told people what they were doing in the park through the newspaper.In six months, about 120 more people joined Park Rescue.The group also organized concerts and raised money in the street.With these activities and with the help of some warm-hearted people,they have raised over 4,000.
“Birds start to come back to the park. The long-closed restaurant is going to open soon and that will be great. The park is becoming a place that people can enjoy,” Micheal says. “But we still have more work to do.We want to make a skate-boarding area(滑板区). And now we need some advice about cleaning the lake."

Several years ago,I spent most of my time at a mental hospital in our town.I found much joy there. At first it was a little scary to be there,but I stayed on,because I had a reason doing this.
I volunteered in a locked-up environment.To my surprise,I found that friend of my parents' was a patient in this hospital.I knew,when I was a baby,this woman wanted to keep me because she had no children.I looked after this woman and showed my old photos to her. Finally she was able to remember some old things,and she said to me one day, "Dear, you should not come here."But I wanted to bring something happy into this woman's life.I learned that because she had no family,she could not leave here and go home.So I brought her to my home twice,and I still remember the happy smile(笑容)on her face.
I have never forgotten this volunteering experience.This woman later passed away.I can't see her anymore,but I'm happy that I have done just a little to make a difference in another person's life.
