全文语言平实,语气客观,呈现职业倾向测验的重要性。作者利用两个图表,提出职业规划的重要性,介绍职业规划的解决方案,包括职业倾向测试,总结提出学生要客观看待测试结果,对职业的热爱是职业成功的秘诀。引导青年读者认识到职业规划的重要性。其中,理解和运用图表是培养课标中所提出的“看viewing”的能力之一。
四、教学目标
在本课学习结束时,学生能够:
1. 观察文本标题、图表等多模态语篇,获取职业规划的时机及规划建议。
2. 通过跳读和略读,提炼文本的结构和语言特征。
3. 应用职业倾向测试进行自测,绘制结果分析图,与同伴分享分析结果,内化语篇信息。
4. 小组讨论,评估职业倾向测试对于职业选择的价值,培养批判性思维。
5. 结合我校军训期间将招聘班级助理,作为学校团委干部,对收到的应聘者的职业能力倾向测试结果进行比较,然后撰写一份报告,说明哪些同学更加适合。把所学的知识进行迁移、创新。鼓励学生联系实际,尽早开始职业探索,树立正确的职业观,实现学科育人功能。
五、教学过程
Stage 1 Lead-in
Step 1:Watch a video
Ss watch a video introducing 8 steps to career planning.
Ss answer the following questions:
1. What are the 8 steps to career planning mentioned in the video
2. What are some of the ways that can help people decide which career is suitable for them
3. Is it essential that teenagers decide on a career before they become adults Why
设计意图:利用视频创设语境,导入主题;讨论职业规划的时机和步骤,激活学生背景知识,为探究主题做认知准备。
Stage 2 Pre-reading
Step 2: View and predict
T asks Ss to look at the chart on page 50-51. Predict the style and main idea of the text.
设计意图:利用多模态图表图进一步激活图式,引导学生通过标题关键词感知文本,预测文本内容和体裁,形成阅读期待。
Stage 3 While-reading
Step 3: Skim for the main idea of each paragraph
T asks Ss to read the each paragraph to confirm their prediction by skimming for the topic sentence. Ss are guided to summarize the features of the text type orally.
设计意图:获取文本主旨句,体验作者思维过程,为下一环节做好铺垫。
Step 4: Read for structure
T asks Ss to summarize the structure of the report.
设计意图:通过快速阅读,了解文章的文本特征,形成结构化知识。
Step 5:Read for details (focus on the solution part)
T asks Ss to scan Para 3-6 and find the information about the career aptitude test.
1.What’s the purpose of completing career aptitude test
2. What are some of the career aptitude tests mentioned in the text
3. Draw a flow-chart to illustrate how the aptitude test works for participants.
设计意图:引导学生深度阅读文本,了解职业能力测评工具目的和种类,通过可视化工具(流程图),帮助学生获取有关职业能力倾向测验的信息。同时,学生在绘制流程图的过程中分析和归纳这一测验的重要性和使用意义。
Step 6: Understand the charts and graphs
Ss are instructed to analyze the charts and graphs in the text.

3. According to the participant’s work personality code, what careers would you recommend
设计意图:学生通过“看”图表,分析、归纳图表信息与语篇内容的关联,从而对测试工具的内容和结果行程更为直观的认识。本环节的问答部分实现了学生对话题知识的再次建构,为下一个环节迁移运用做好输出准备。
Stage 4 Post-reading
Step 7: Report with the diagram
T asks Ss to complete the test on P50 according to your situation and illustrate your work personality code with the chart and share with your partner.
设计意图:学生基于上一环节的知识和技能准备,运用本课所学,结合自身情况,与同伴进行合作学习和自我探究,整个过程是思维品质和学习策略渗透和培养的过程。
Step 8: Evaluate the test
Suppose the Students’ union of your school is recruiting some Teaching Assistants (班级助理) during the military training period. Below are the work personality codes of two possible candidates. Please analyze their test results and choose a suitable one for the position and tell your reason.
设计意图:创设语境,让学生把语篇所提到的测试工具及分析方法迁移到世纪案例中加以应用,深入理解职业能力倾向测验在实际生活中的应用及作用。升华单元主题意义,实现学生的能力迁移。
Step 9: Critical thinking

设计意图:学生通过讨论和分类,懂得影响职业选择的因素不仅包括主观因素,还包括客观因素,能更客观、全面地考虑职业规划,树立健康的职业观。
Stage 5 Summary and Assignment
Step 10: Make a summary
T makes a brief summary of what Ss have learnt in class.
T uses the quotation on the opening page of this unit to summarize the topic and stress the importance of career planning
设计意图:对本堂课和本单元的学习进行归纳总结,深化主题意义,加强德育浸润。通过名人引言,鼓励学生树立正确的职业观、人生观,从内而外提升自我,实现学科育人功能。
Assignment
Option 1: Ss polish their group report and upload them on a social media platform and share online.
Option 2: Ss design a poster themed “Rubbish Classification, Thriving Dongguan” with group members.
设计意图:结合主题语境,引导学生在课后拓展学习线上职业能力倾向测验,根据个人职业能力倾向测验的结果,写一份分析报告,为自己未来的职业选择提供参考。
