We all put our hands in the middle, ready for the "TIGERS!" shout. Andrew looked up, his face wrinkled in confusion, and then loosed in relief he said, "Whoa, for a second I forgot there was a girl on this team. I was wondering why there was one hand with painted pink nails!" The guys laughed, and I smiled, once again reminded how cool it was that I was different. "1, 2, 3, TIGERS!" and we were off to the field.
My adventures as the only girl on my all-boys middle school football team were always interesting. Football is known as being predominantly male. But I love football. Ever since I could walk, I would get around the fields. My dad is a huge football fan, and we spend many Saturday afternoons playing football in the yard or watching games. Football is in my blood. So when signups came for the 7th- and 8th-grade team, I signed up. Who says a girl can't do it
Back to Grade 7. Though it was strange for the guys to have me there, and a few felt embarrassed when they heard they'd be tackling a girl, they got used to it. The coach treated me like anyone else, and the boys learned to also. I did the drills, I tackled people, and I got tackled. By the time I got home every night, my body literally crumbled into my bed. But it was all worth it. Game days were everyone's favorite. Football is a team sport of passion, pride and love. The coach would always tell us, "We win as a team: we lose as a team!"
To play well we needed to work as a team. Different as I was being the only girl, it didn't matter. One person, one girl, is not a big thing. I was a part of the team. The coach got us all together, and we'd once again shout "TIGERS!"

At some point in the past nine months, I heard a teacher on Zoom say the name of one of my teenage twin boys during class attendance, but I did not hear my son respond. As I walked past him, I suggested that he should let the teacher know he was there.
"Mom!" my son said, perhaps a little more loudly than a mother would like, "I know how to do attendance!" He also suggested that I exit the room. Then came the voice of his teacher, "Hello, Mrs. Burdick. How are you "
I had just become the subject of a COVID-specific story, precisely the kind I was seeking out as I reported on young people's experience of this painful year for The New York Times Magazine.
Starting last fall, as a staff writer for the magazine, I followed a group of college students in Missouri, as they managed the trials of remote learning. Over time I started to understand emotional pain was the hallmark of the year for so many young people, a year in which remote learning robbed (剥夺) them of the very things they find especially rewarding—novelty, independence, bonding with friends.
I also knew that some of the young people had a hard time telling their parents just how much they were suffering. Young people know their parents want them to be happy, to thrive (茁壮成长) ; disappointing their parents was one more source of pain they were not sure if they could take on.
I felt fortunate that I was learning so much from the young people who could open up to me, a stranger located in a state far, far away. As I felt sad for them, I felt sad for my own children. And so I tried not to lecture them about trying harder. Because of the work I was doing on the phone with those students, I think I failed my boys a little bit less than I otherwise would have—and of all the gifts my work has given me, that might be the one for which I am the most grateful.
8.How did the author's son react to her reminder
A.He ignored it. B.He got a bit annoyed.
C.He exited the room. D.He turned to his teacher.
9.What did the author find out about the college students
A.They failed their parents.
B.They struggled with emotional pain.
C.They longed for well-deserved rewards.
D.They asked for emotional support from their parents.
10.For what did the author feel most grateful
A.Educating her teenagers to try harder.
B.Learning to listen to her children.
C.Having a chance to talk to strangers far away.
D.Getting to understand her boys.
11.What can we infer about the author
A.She teaches in Missouri. B.She is a better-known writer now.
C.She changed for the better. D.She was carefree and tolerant.

One day, my husband Mike and I decided to climb Nippletop Mountains. Our friends Emily and Jane gladly joined us. They were experienced hikers (远足者) .
We set off in the morning. It took us less than five hours to get to the top. It was almost 1:30 p.m. We'd have to head down soon while it was still light.
A friendly young hiker waved to us. "Hey, want me to take your picture " "Sure!" I said. Emily and Jane squeezed (挤) in next to us. Mike gave the hiker his Phone. He took a few pictures. We took a different path so we could get down before dark. It was harder but shorter.
We spaced ourselves apart so we wouldn't fall on each other. I led the way, setting a fast pace. The trail grew steeper. Carefully I sidestepped down the slope (斜坡) . A quarter mile down, I stopped and looked up the trail for the others. I couldn't see them.
Then a scream broke the quiet. Mike! He must have fallen. I climbed up the frozen slope. Finally I saw him, his hands were seizing his right leg. My eyes went to his foot, which pointed the wrong way. I shouted, "What happened " "I slipped on the ice," he said.
"Don't worry," I said, searching into my backpack but found nothing for a broken bone. Moments later, my friends came cautiously down. Jane checked Mike's ankle. "We need to fix it with sticks," she said.
"Here, try this," I said, handing over my hiking poles (杖). I took off one of my shirts. Jane fixed a pole to Mike's leg. But there was no way the three of us could carry him down this mountain, I pulled out my cell phone and dialed 911. No signal (信号) .
"Can I help " It was the guy who'd taken our picture at the summit. "My husband fell. He's hurt, and I don't have service here. "Take mine," he said. "I got service near the top." I'd have to leave Mike and climb higher to get service.

根据文章第四段中的“The books, of course, couldn'tstay $ 0.25 forever, although it did take 20 years before the price jumped to $0.29. 【知识点】任务型阅读
【解析】【分析】这是一篇说明文。作者介绍了运动带来的一些好处。
A. Time, I think, to lace up your sports shoes and go play.
B. Included here are three qualities worthy of special consideration.
C. Of course, swimming is also a great way to cool down on a hot day.
D. Regular exercise will also help you maintain a healthy body weight.
E. Sport will encourage you to maintain a positive and balanced outlook.
F. Similarly, you also have a responsibility to contribute to the success of others.
G. Another benefit of exercise is that it will improve your body's immune system.
16.根据上文“Every sport has its own specific healthbenefits. Swimming, for example, is an excellent physical activity as nearlyall muscles are used when you swim. As a result, it provides a terrificfull-body workout, improving coordination, flexibility, balance and muscle strength.(每一项运动都有其特定的健康益处。例如,游泳是一项很好的体育活动,因为游泳时几乎所有的肌肉都会用到。因此,它提供了一个很好的全身锻炼,提高协调性,灵活性,平衡性和肌肉力量。) ”可知,这一段是要描写游泳这项运动对健康是有益的,选项C“Of course, swimming is also a great way to cool down on a hot day.”
17.根据上文“Sport, as well as being a physicalactivity, has a mental aspect too. It can help define who you are and who youcan become. Sport builds character and promotes the development of a number ofqualities that are essential for a successful and fulfilling life. (运动不仅是一种身体活动,也有精神方面的作用。它可以帮助定义你是谁,你可以成为谁。运动可以塑造性格,促进许多品质的发展,这些品质对于成功和充实的生活是必不可少的。)”,又因设空处位于段末,有着承上启下的作用,同时下文也提到了运动需要考虑的三个品质,选项B“ Included here are three qualities worthy of special consideration.”
18.根据上文“ Sport requires self-discipline, without which there will always be the temptation to simply give up. (运动需要自律,如果没有自律,总会有诱惑简单地给予你)”可知,这是运动需要考虑的第一个品质,以及下文“Sport will help you understand theimportance of teamwork. It will show you that you often need to rely on others for your success.(运动可以帮助你理解团队合作的重要性。它会告诉你,你经常需要依靠别人来获得成功。)”可知这是运动需要考虑的第三个品质。故设空段应该涉及运动需要考虑的第二个特质,且设空处位于段首,起着引领全段的作用,该段后文提到每个人都有起有伏,参与体育运动可以帮你理解成功和失败的真正的含义。所以选项E“Sport will encourage you to maintain a positive and balanced outlook.”
F“Similarly, you also have a responsibility to contribute to the success of others.”中的Similarly也指出了团队合作的含义,并且选项F中的“the success of others”与上文的“ rely on others for your success”是同现关系。故选F。
20.根据上文“The world of sport is a fairground of exciting opportunities where you can discover who you really are. (体育世界是一个充满令人兴奋的机会的游乐场,在那里你可以发现真正的自己。)”可知选项A“Time, I think, to lace up your sports shoes and go play.” 选项A中“lace up your sports shoes and go play”和上文的“fairground”相呼应。故选A。
21.B;22.A;23.C;24.C;25.D;26.B;27.D;28.A;29.C;30.D;31.C;32.B;33.A;34.C;35.B

4.What is the author's purpose in writing Paragraph 1

B.To stress the distinctiveness of her team.

D.To describe the tension before a football game.
5.What pushed the author to sign up for the 7th- and 8th-grade team

C.Fighting spirit. D.Teamwork.

根据文章第一段的“We all put our hands in themiddle, ready for the "TIGERS!" shout. Andrew looked up, his facewrinkled in confusion, and then loosed in relief he said, "Whoa, for asecond I forgot there was a girl on this team. I was wondering why there wasone hand with painted pink nails!" The guys laughed, and I smiled, onceagain reminded how cool it was that I was different. "1, 2, 3, TIGERS!"and we were off to the field.(我们都把手放在中间,准备听“老虎”的喊声。安德鲁抬起头,困惑地皱起了脸,然后松了一口气,说:“哇,有那么一瞬间,我忘了这队还有个女孩。我还在想为什么有一只手的指甲涂成了粉红色呢!”他们笑了,我笑了,再一次提醒我,我是多么的与众不同。" 1,2,3,老虎!"然后我们就出发了。)”可知,作者写第一段的目的是描述足球比赛前的紧张气氛。故选D。
5.细节理解题。根据文章第二段中的“Ever since could walk, I would get around the fields. My dad is a huge football fan, andwe spend many Saturday afternoons playing football in the yard or watchinggames. Football is in my blood. So when signups came for the 7th- and 8th-gradeteam, I signed up. Who says a girl can't do it (自从我能走路,我就会在田野里走动。我爸爸是个超级足球迷,我们经常在周六下午在院子里踢足球或看比赛。足球融入了我的血液。所以当七年级和八年级的队伍报名时,我也报名了。谁说女孩不能做 )”可知她对足球的热爱促使提交人报名参加了7年级和8年级的球队。故选A。
根据文章第三段中的“The coach treated me likeanyone else, and the boys learned to also. I did the drills, I tackled people, and I got tackled. (教练像对待其他人一样对待我,男孩们也学会了这样做。我做训练,擒抱别人,也被擒抱。)”可知教练对待作者像对待其他人一样,男孩的训练量也是挺大的;再根据“By the time I got home every night(等我每晚回家的时候)”以及“But it was all worth it.(但这一切都是值得的。)” 所以划线部分“my body literally crumbled into my bed(我的身体真的瘫倒在床上了)”的意思就是作者累极了。故选B。
根据文章最后一段中的“To play well we needed towork as a team. Different as I was being the only girl, it didn't matter. Oneperson, one girl, is not a big thing. I was a part of the team. The coach gotus all together, and we'd once again shout "TIGERS!"(为了踢得好,我们需要团队合作。虽然我是唯一的女孩,但这并不重要。一个人,一个女孩,不是什么大事。我是团队的一员。教练把我们聚在一起,我们又一次喊“老虎队!”)”可知,根据作者的观点,团队合作在赢得比赛中起着关键的作用。故选D。
(2023高一下·湖南开学考)阅读下列短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Before the introduction ofLittle Golden Books in, 1942, children's books weren't necessarily made withchildren's interests in mind. They were usually large volumes that were toodifficult for young readers to handle or comprehend, and were sold at $ 2 to $3 each (that's about $ 28-$ 42 today). But an American named Georges Duplaixwanted to change all that. He thought the solution was small, inexpensive bookswith fewer pages, simpler stories, and more illustrations so little kids couldactually enjoy them. And so Little Golden Books appeared.

After only five months on the market, 1.5 million copies had been soldand many titles were already in their third printing. Busy parents could keep theirtoo energetic children occupied while they did their things.
The Poky Little Puppy ofthese original titles became the best-selling children's book of the 20thcentury—a total of 14,898,341 copies were sold, but many Little Golden Bookswere also sold in impressive numbers. In 2002 the leading book brand (品牌) celebratedits 60th anniversary with l,200 unique titles and 2 billion books sold innearly every country.
The books, of course, couldn'tstay $ 0.25 forever, although it did take 20 years before the price jumped to $0.29. The price continued to rise over the years, but still stayed under adollar for decades. Currently, Little Golden Books retail (零售) for $ 3.99.Interestingly, collecting Little Golden Books has become a hobby. Most firsteditions are available for around $ 15.

I kept trying 911, redialing even as I pickedup speed.
At last, a ranger (管理员) appeared, shouldering agreen backpack.
I kept trying 911, redialing even as I picked up speed. Just above the tree line, the call finally went through. I did my best to tell the location and trouble we had. And then I returned the phone to its owner, but he stayed in case he could help. I talked and joked with Mike to keep his spirits up. The rest of us kept moving to stay warm. Several hours went by. Nobody came.
At last, a ranger appeared, shouldering a green backpack. She took charge immediately. "We're going to airlift him out," she said. "You need to cut down trees so your husband doesn't hit them as he's being raised." We managed to cut down six trees in half an hour. By now, the helicopter was overhead. The ranger radioed the pilot, and he dropped a rope. He rose slowly in the air. Thinking Mike would be at the hospital, I was in relief and felt grateful for all the people who helped Mike.
