◆过去进行时概述
①第一和第三人称单数：I/he/she/it + was + dong …..
②其他人称：you/we/they + were + doing….
时态 名称 时间 表达的意义 例句
过 去 进 行 时 过去 某时/某段时间内正在进行的动作 I was doing my homework this time last night.
故事发生的背景 The wind was blowing and it was raining.
带有感彩的描述 He was making trouble all the time.
过去说话前不久的动作 I was telling him his mother was ill.
婉转语气 I was hoping you could help me.
◆ 过去进行时的构成
a. He was watching TV when I came in.
b. -- What were you doing this time yesterday
--I was writing a letter.
c. They were listening to the teacher attentively when the bell rang.
d. At that time they were having a good time.
◆过去进行时的用法
●表示过去某时刻或某段时间内正在进行的动作，往往有特定的过去时间状语, 如：at that time, at that moment, this time yesterday, at 9 o’clock yesterday morning等也可有上下文暗示, 请观察以下句子
● 表示过去一段时间一直在进行的动作,但说话时不一定在进行，请观察以下句子

b. They were digging a railway tunnel last week.
The teacher was always praising the girl in class during that period.
