Part 1. Analysis of Teaching Material
This is a reading passage, which comes from selective compulsory Module 1 Unit2 Lesson3. This reading material shares a story about an Olympic triathlete, who made great efforts to fight against obstacles to get to the top. Not only does it reflect the topic of this unit--- success, but also cultivates students’ spirit of striving for greatness to get to the top. By learning this reading material, students can learn some information about triathletes and their hardships. What’s more, it can enhance learning capacity and language competence while reading. Most importantly, students’ spirit of striving for success can be cultivated.
Part 2. Analysis of Students
As Senior 2 students, they have
accumulated a certain amount of vocabulary;
equipped with some background knowledge and experiences for the topic; had the ability of collecting information by adopting some reading strategies.
During the learning process, they are guided to apply these qualities properly to complete tasks and enhance competence.

By learning this reading material, students can improve the core competence.
