延续性动词指动作可以延续一段时间, 而不是瞬间结束。如: work、study、drink、eat等。
非延续性动词指动作极为短暂,瞬间结束。如: start、begin、hit、jump、knock等。
知识点二:在本单元中,出现了以when和while引导的时间状语从句。
1)when表示“当……的时候”。
从句中既可用延续性动词,又可用非延续性动词,这些动词既可以表示动作,又可表示状态。从句中动作既可和主句的动作同时发生,又可在主句的动作之前或之后发生。
2)while表示“在……的时候”、“在……期间”。
它强调主句的动作与从句的动作同时发生或主句的动作发生在从句的动作过程中。While从句中必须
是表示动作或状态的延续性动词。
如果主句的动作在从句的动作过程中发生,从句常用进行时。
知识点三:现在分词的构成
1)一般动词在词尾加-ing,如go—going2) 以不发音字母e结尾的动词, 先去掉e, 再加-ing
3) 以重读闭音节结尾的动词,如果末尾以一个辅字母结尾,应先双写这个字母,再加ing,x和w结尾的除外。4) 以字母y结尾的单词,直接加ing。5) 以字母ie结尾的动词,变ie为y,再加ing。
6) 以元音字母加e结尾,或以e结尾,且e发音的动词,直接加- ing。

over作副词还可意为“又;再”,常用于短语over again 再;重新。

eg:I still can\'t believe her story.我还是不能相信她的故事。
believe 与 believe in
believe 意为“相信;认为真实”,指相信某事是真实的或相信某人说的是实话。 How can you believe him He is always telling lies.你怎么可以相信他说的话?他经常在说谎。
believe in 意为“信任”,指信赖某人或相信某事物的存在。 They need a leader they can believe in. 他们需要一个可以信赖的领导。
知识点三: silence作名词,意为“沉默;缄默;无声”。in silence 意为“沉默;无声”;keep silence 意为“保持沉默”。
eg:After a moment\'s silence, he went on speaking.他沉默了一会儿又继续说了下去。

A heavy rainstorm hit our city at 3:00 p. m. last Sunday. My friends in the city were doing different things at that time. Julia was reading in the city library. She could hear strong winds outside and the rain beat heavily against the windows. Jim was waiting for the bus at the bus stop. He didn't take an umbrella with him,so he was all wet. Tim and Mike were watching the animal shows in the zoo. Luckily, they found somewhere to get out of the rain. Peter and I were playing computer games in my home. However,because of the loud noise outside, we could hardly hear each other. Although we didn't care about it,we lost interest in the games. We didn't have fun with the rainstorm.
