Overwhelmed by guilt(充满内疚), Asad quickly picked up the wallet and strode to Fahad, “I found it over there, and I think it is yours. ”
Murmuring in a low voice(小声地低语), he dodged Asad’s shining eyes, somehow even not daring to look into them.
She now could do nothing but feel the regret burning in her heart(感觉内疚在她心里燃烧).
Ariana nodded, beginning to feel guilty(开始感到内疚).
Not knowing what to do(不知道该做什么) , he walked out of the classroom and sat on a bench in front of the canteen.
“The best thing you can do for Ashley is to treat her with kindness and sympathy(用善意和同情对待她).”
When Ariana gave the lunch to Ashley, she saw tears well up in Ashley’s eyes(眼泪都流出来了).
Because these were the people I considered my friends. I broke down in front of her. She apologized. But I felt cheated on. I told her about my decision of not wanting to continue this friendship further(我不再继续这份友谊的决定). We both missed each other. But neither of us wanted to give the last try.
During the trip, we intentionally avoided each other(有意避开彼此). However, I couldn’t help glancing at her when she turned back and I sensed the same.
Blushed, she broke the silence(打破沉默), “I am sorry again. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Tears streaming down, she continued, “I should have talked to you earlier.” I stood up and reached out to hug her(伸出手拥抱她), “I am sorry, too. I should have been more generous.”

It was on that very day that Asad made his first friend in the new school, and he truly reckoned the value of sincerity and honesty(明白真诚和诚实的价值) in a relationship.
谢谢你!”So as soon as the plane landed I called him and said, “Luke, that was such a wonderful thing you did for me(那是你为我做的最美妙的事情) . Thank you.”
It dawned on me that one loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives.
If we really value our friends and friendship, always cherish their presence and show willingness to maintain and nurture the relationship(愿意保持和培养这段关系).
Part 2
表示“抓住”类的动词:seize, grasp, grip , take hold of
(1)Fear gripped her heart.
(2)Jealousy seized her.
(3)A wild joy took hold of her.
(4)A feeling of panic seized her.
(5)Anxiety tore her into pieces.
(6)Anger and bitterness covered upon me for weeks.
于是,动词通常是get the better of或者get the best of(都表示“胜过”)。
He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions get the better of him. 在这句里,就用到了get the better of 的结构,表示“胜过”。
(1)Enthusiasm gets the better of me.
(2)Boredom often gets the best of them.
(3)His curiosity got the better of him .
(1)Worrying deprived him of sleep.
(2)Excitement deprived me of all power of speech.
(3)Astonishment and horror oppressed her.
(4)Anger and bitterness had preyed upon me continually.
(1)Happiness crawls up to the tips of his brows.
(2)A slight feeling of fear slowly crept on him.
(3)Self-doubt began to gnaw away at her confidence.
(4)Fear swallowed her.
Part 3
4. The Indian government is eager for their economy to sprint like a tiger rather than amble along like an elephant.
5. He lost his balance, staggered (蹒跚地走) back against the rail and toppled over.
6. It only takes five minutes to run to the old quarry.
7. When I get there and I'm gasping for breath.
8. I dragged(拖) my heavy legs and moved tiredly forward.
9. She had pulled this pigtail around her neck, and was biting the end of the ribbon, resting her elbows on the desk, as she stared wonderingly at the new pupil.
I put the Christmas present down, pounded(重击) his doorbell and then Grandma and I hid in the car, waiting breathlessly(屏息等待).
Why have you been banging on(大声敲) my door
Ideas poured in.
His eyes spring open.
She was dressed in a blue and white silk that flowed to(垂到) the wooden floor.
Megan watched as men and women of different ages, all apparently hungry, gobbling down\wolf down(狼吞虎咽) a fine meal.
With a leap, she threw her arms around the man’s neck. 搂住She buried her face in his shoulder埋在他的肩膀 and sobbed for a few moments, then she said in a low but determined voice.
“For the sake of God!” With a loud noise of fist hitting the wheel, the car window was wound down(摇下来). The man thrust(挤出) his head out again, staring at the man breaking his sweet dream, his eyes red from lack of sleep.

A MOTHER'S DAY SURPRISE
The twins were filled with excitement as they thought of the surprise they were planning for Mother's Day. How pleased and proud Mother would be when they brought her breakfast in bed. They planned to make French toast and chicken porridge. They had watched their mother in the kitchen. There was nothing to it. Jenna and Jeff knew exactly what to do.
The big day came at last. The alarm rang at 6 a.m. The pair went down the stairs quietly to the kitchen. They decided to boil the porridge first. They put some rice into a pot of water and left it to boil while they made the French toast. Jeff broke two eggs into a plate and added in some milk. Jema found the bread and put two slices into the egg mixture. Next, Jef turned on the second stove burner to heat up the frying pan. Everything was going smoothly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was too hot and the bread turned black within seconds. Jenna threw the burnt piece into the sink and put in the other slice of bread. This time, she turned down the fire so it cooked nicely.
Then Jeff noticed steam shooting out of the pot and the lid starting to shake. The next minute, the porridge boiled over and put out the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned off the gas quickly. But the stove was a mess now. Jenna told Jef to clean it up so they could continue to cook the rest of the porridge. But Jeff's hand touched the hot burner and he gave a cry of pain. Jenna made him put his hand in cold water. Then she caught the smell of burning. Oh dear! The piece of bread in the pan had turned black as well.

The Christmas Spirit Strikes Again
I always dreamed of making a big surprise of a lifetime. Thanks to a little determination, some luck, and a generous helping of Christmas Spirit, my dream became a reality.
My family is Canadian, although my sister moved down to Australia a few years ago to study. She was graduating just before Christmas, but due to my own scholarly schedule back home, I would be unable to make it down in time for her graduation. She was understandably disappointed, and I felt guilty that I wasn’t able to be there for her on this special occasions.
While I was talking to my professor the week before my sister’s graduation, she commented, “Well, if you want to go, just go ahead!" I couldn’t believe my luck! I nearly jumped for joy. “Just make sure you get permission from administrator (行政主管),” she added. My heart sank. The administration at my school was infamous for denying any sort of time-off requests. I almost didn’t bother asking, because I knew it would be a waste of time. But something in me decided to try, just in case. Maybe it was the hope that the Christmas Spirit would somehow affects the administrator at this time of year. When I returned home to check the reply in my inbox, I steeled myself for disappointment. I held my breath, opened the e-mail, and started to read. And re-read, just to make sure I’d understood. Approval I couldn’t believe my luck!
Immediately, I called the airline. Unexpectedly, even during the busy Christmas season, I was able to change my ticket to arrive the day before my sister’s graduation. With news this fantastic, I was bursting to tell my sister. But, fingers on the dial((拨号盘), I paused. Wouldn’t it be much more fantastic if I could surprise her What a state of shock she would be in! Slowly a great idea came to my mind. I decided a much more dramatic arrival than just a ring of the doorbell. What if I couldn’t arrive in a box
I started to plot.

I, hidden in the big box, heard the mailmen ringing my sister’s doorbell.

We went to the charity shop where we found an old dark one. It didn’t look too cool, but I thought that I would paint it to make it look better.
After we took it home, I was getting ready to paint it. When I pulled the drawers out. I felt something stuck to the back. I reached in all the way, and guess what A sealed bag with some papers in it.
When I opened the bag, I realized that the papers were official documents. And, wrapped in them were a bunch of ten and twenty dollar bills! Talk about finding a treasure! And on my birthday!
“Is this some kind of joke ” I said aloud. I went ahead and read the papers, and it turned out to be a will. Some old lady was leaving her savings for her son and grandchildren.
My mind was going crazy. Was I the luckiest twelve-year-old ever With this money I could buy the coolest bicycle. Who knows
I began counting. When I reached a thousand dollars, my mother was knocking on my bedroom door. I quickly closed the drawer with the money in it.
“Do you want some help Is everything all right ” she asked.
No, everything was not right. Actually, my stomach was growling (低吼).
“I’m okay,” I lied.
When my mother left my room, I lay on my bed, starting thinking. What a dilemma (窘境)! I wished there were some one I could talk with. Could I keep it and get all kinds of stuff for me and my family It wouldn’t be too bad for me to keep it, if I shared it...right Thoughts ran through my mind.
As the twins looked around them in disappointment, their father appeared. One look and he knew what they were up to. Seeing their discouraged faces, he told them to clean up the kitchen while he helped them make breakfast for Mother. The twins cheered up and did as told. Within an hour, the kitchen was cleaned, and Father had successfully made some French toast and chicken porridge as the children wished. Then he sneaked back to bed. The twins prepared the breakfast tray, added a card they had made, and then headed for their parents' bedroom.

I finally made a decision and called my parents into my bedroom. When my parents saw what I had found in the drawer they were wide-eyed and speechless! Then, they read the papers carefully and were moved to tears. When they asked, “What should we do ” I said, “Let’s take it back to the store and find her family.” My father nodded with a smile on his face and my mother hugged me warmly, saying “You are my pride, dear.” I felt very happy because I already knew right from wrong. We collected all the money and papers at once, putting them in the drawer. We rushed to the charity shop with the drawer in the hope to find the owner as soon as possible.
Though surprised, the shop owner helped find the family’s telephone number. Within a few minutes, the family all came over. When I showed them what I had found in the drawer, they couldn’t believe their eyes. The parents had tears in their eyes. They were still sad about the lady’s death and the father had just lost his job. It was easy to see that my act of honesty gave them hope. They showed me sincere gratitude from the bottom of their hearts. In fact, I had never felt better before. No new bicycle could have made me felt as good about myself as I felt that day because I passed a very important test—a lost and found test of my own character.
