Part 1
①After I walked for quite a long time, she found herself lost.
②After he failed three times,he didn't want to try again.
1.Having walked for quite a long time, she found herself lost.
2.Having failed three times,he didn't want to try again.
To save money,he has tried every means.
Collecting stamps is interesting.
His not knowing English troubled him a lot.
Having lived in London for 10 years, he was very familiar with the local customs.
Destroyed completely by the earthquake, the city was not a popular tourist attraction anymore.
Weak as she was, she struggled to her feet, continuing searching for assistance.“她身体虚弱,但挣扎着站起来,继续寻求帮助。”这句话中“Weak as she was”这一部分使用了倒装,相当于“Although she was weak”,把weak提到句首,用as表示转折。
Never in her life had she tasted anything better. She had never tasted anything better in her life.把带有否定词的never in her life 提到了句首,剩下的部分had she tasted anything better使用了倒装。
During the exam, so nervous was I that my mind went blank.
So excited was he that he couldn't go to sleep.
I.Not until the fire die out did he wake up.
2.Not until he climbed into bed was he free to think about it.
Here comes the bus.
Then came the teacher.
Away went the runners.
In the box were some cats.
Standing beside the table was his wife.
Buried in the sands was an ancient village.
So helpful is he that we all like him.
Such lazy students are they that they have no hope of passing the exam.
Never have I seen such a performance.
Nowhere will you find the answer to this question.
Not until the child fell asleep did the mother leave the room.
Not only did he refuse the gift, he also severely criticized the sender.
Hardly had she gone out when a student came to visit her.
Only then did he realize he was wrong.
So fast did he speak that I could not understand him.
Had you come yesterday, you would have seen him.
Only in this way can we learn English.
Only by reading can we enlarge our vocabulary.
So difficult did I find it to work out the problem that I decided to ask Tom for advice.
So much homework did we have to do that we had no time to take a rest.
So well has he done that he deserves our respect.
So well does she sing that she can make a good singer.
If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom.
I wish
"I wish we could help him to earn money,"said Clara. "His family is suffering so much.
He sat there, wishing he had stayed at home then.
He turned over the photo album, wishing that he had joined the party last night.
可以用这个“Without…,sb.would”或者“But for, sb. would...
Without your advice, I wouldn't have succeeded.
But for your instruction,I would not have made such great progress.
If only I were as clever as you.
If only I would get the scholarship.
Given one more chance,I would...
Given one more chance,I wouldn't let my parents down.
Given one more chance,I would..。
Given one more chance,I would definitely make it better.
Given one more chance,I would...
It suddenly occurred to him that the family inside was in danger.
2.It hit me all of a sudden that I had forgotten her birthday.
I had forgotten her birthday。
1、It’s +形容词/名词+(for sb. / sth)+to do sth

It is strange that she should be so rude to you.

It is reported that the American President will visit China next w eek.
It is well known that Taiwan is part of China.
注意使用suggested, ordered, required等表示请求、建议、命令等的词时,that后的从句要用虚拟语气should +动词原形) ,should可以省略。例如;

It imp1essed deeply that we were given a warm welcome on the farm.
常用的还有(doesn't) make difference, (won't) change the situation 等。例如:
It makes no difference whether Peter go or not.
9、It takes sb. + sometime to do sth.
It took us half an hour to ride to the town by bike.
10、It’s time (about time, high time ) +that…
It is time that children should go to bed.= It is time that children went to bed.
③使用虚拟语气的两个句子:“真希望I wish”和““Without“But for ”来表达“”没有…

Surviving Mount Rainier
Bad luck and poor timing left Kart and three climbers stuck on Mount Rainier for several long days. They faced mountain climbing’s toughest tests. One man suffered altitude sickness; ice and rockfall rained down at night; cold nights in a tent that got torn left them hypothermic(体温过低的). Calm confidence, skill and the courage to continue up the route, despite illness and injury, likely saved their lives.
The climbers set out on a Friday, camping low on the route the first night because they were concerned about rockfall after a climber had recently died in an accident at the route’s typical high camp. On Saturday, at about 10,500 feet, one of the climbers became sick from the altitude, which began to slow them down. They needed to keep moving, so they put him in the lead so he could move at a pace he was comfortable with.
By Sunday evening, the ill climber was exhausted, and they had to make an unplanned camp on steep snow. They were in a bad place—on a platform about the size of a table under an ice cliff. The wind got stronger during the night, ripping the tent and snapping the poles. They tried to secure it by placing their packs and rocks around the edges. Finally, they just stuck their feet between the rocks and held the tent with their bodies. It was a cold night.

I first became conscious of my body image last year in fifth grade. One day I was walking by my mirror getting ready for bed and I noticed that my stomach looked big. I started to really hate that and think I was fat even though my family always told me how skinny I was. It wasn't only my stomach —I started to think my nose was ugly and that my laugh was disgusting. I was even afraid to laugh or smile in public.
Then,in the sixth grade,a popular guy in my class named Luke made it worse. He told his table group that my body looked swollen in skinny jeans. I heard about it from someone else, but then Luke even told me to my face! I couldn't stop thinking about what Luke had said.Even worse.I started to believe it was true, and I hid my skinny jeans all the way at the bottom of my drawer.
I know I cared too much about what other people said and thought about me. I guess I just wanted to be liked. In fact.I really wish I could have just brushed off comments like that, but I couldn't change my personality and what I care about that easily.
Luke's mean comment affected me in a big way.I lost confidence in more than just my body—I started to think that I didn't matter and that I didn't have a place in the world. To make it worse, some people also started telling me that I was not meant to be an author, which is what I really want to be. That especially hurt and I started to feel really sad all the time.
I hadn't really told anyone how I'd been feeling until a couple of months ago when I got a call from my cousin. I'm really close to her, and hearing her voice and laugh made me feel so good inside.I thought about how I used to be that way too,and how I was so sick of feeling sad.

Thin, average, and undisciplined, I was the underdog of the boys’ basketball tryouts (选拔赛) in seventh grade. Making the team was very important to me. Although I was extremely nervous, I truly thought I would make the team. But I went in overly optimistic, and quickly faced a cruel reality check.
When on the court, I huffed and puffed like an old man on his last legs; clearly, I was out of shape and having trouble keeping up. When it hit me that this was only the first day, and that there was a second to follow, I realized I would have to step it up in order to gain a spot on the team.
Unfortunately, day two went exactly like day one: I missed shots, passed badly like an out-of-breath fool. Hoping the coach was not watching all my bad moves, I had trouble keeping a positive attitude. Finally, Coach-who at five-foot-four usually seemed small, posted the lists of the Boys A and B Teams. Everybody quickly ran to catch a glimpse of the chosen few.
After scanning the list once, twice, three times, my name was nowhere. Although I had predicted the disaster that had now settled on me, with my head hanging. I slowly walked to the car. This experience definitely had not gone as I planned.
On the way home, I complained “How could that foolish boy is a better choice than me And…”
“Adam!” my mom cut me off. “Why don’t you realize maybe you need a little more practice You’d better go to basketball camps next summer.”
Although I did not want to believe her, I knew it was true. Failing to make the team was nobody’s fault but mine. Right then and there, in the middle of my anger, I realized I had to get my act together.

Part 4
Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage — I carried an 85-pounder back last year.
This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time.
With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork (软木塞) forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders.
My excitement was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,” I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!” I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space.

Paragraph 2
On Wednesday, they gathered everything and decided to carry on with their climb.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
On Monday, they managed to call 911 but forgot to ask how to communicate with the rangers (护林员) before losing signal. They set up what was left of the tent as best they could and stayed where they were, praying for the early arrival of their salvation. But for several days, they watched beyond all hope as high winds prevented the rangers’ attempts at a helicopter rescue. Their food was running out and they shared a single bottle of snow melt each day. Then an icefall buried their tent platform and squeezed them together. It was impossible to climb down.
On Wednesday, they gathered everything and decided to carry on with their climb. They climbed up slowly and carefully, resting when they were weak. It didn’t take long until the wind froze them in place. That was the scariest moment. Their spirits began to sink and they started to doubt if they could continue. Kart thought of all the people who loved him, and it really hit him they must be worried. As he tried to climb again and again, he just kept yelling out to his friends, “We have to get there.”However, as they got onto the final slope to the summit, the weather cleared. Suddenly, a helicopter appeared out of nowhere. They were rescued.
①期盼:pray for/expect/hope for
②尽最大努力做某事:try to do/spare no effort to do
③大声喊:yell out /shout out/speak in a loud voice

Then I started telling her and it all came out. She seemed so surprised and said how special I was. She started listing all my good qualities, saying I shouldn't listen to people who say mean things because they were probably just feeling bad about themselves or trying to look cool.Definitely, she added,I shouldn't let them tell me how to feel about myself or my body. It was like a sudden wake-up call:focusing on what other people thought of me only made things even worse, and I must learn to love and accept myself for who I am.
When I went back to my bedroom.I looked at myself in the mirror for a long time.I saw what I had never seen in myself before, like my nice grey eyes, my cute smile, and the fact that I am beautiful in my own way.I know some people might still make hurtful comments again, and sometimes I may feel like I am fat again, but next time I will be prepared. I will only think well of myself even when I am feeling sad, and stand up for myself when someone puts me down.In my eyes,I am perfect myself—no one can change that.

Then I threw myself into as many basketball opportunities as I could find. Every day, I insisted on running 10 kilometers and jumping ropes 1000 times after school to increase my energy level and physical strength. Additionally, I practiced passing, dribbling and shooting with my friends every day to improve my basketball skills. When the summer holidays came, I signed up for a basketball camp, where I got a lot of professional basketball knowledge and training from the coaches. Gradually, I found myself making great progress.
When I took part in the eighth-grade basketball tryouts, I was moderate, swift and strong. When on the court, I kept running without any trouble, dribbling freely and passing the basketball accurately. As long as I got the chance, I would try to shoot. One, two, three… I scored ten goals at last. There was no doubt that I succeeded in becoming a member of the basketball team. It was my determination and efforts that helped me achieve my dream.

Paragraph 1
I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Growing more panic, I began to cry. Fortunately, hearing me crying, dad came and helped me lay my head on the table, so my neck could rest for a while. Then he said to me “Listen, honey. I have to cut this pumpkin in half. ” I had no choice but to keep still with my eyes tightly closed and listening to the knife moving on the pumpkin. Moments later, my head was finally released from this horrible pumpkin cage. Then mom told me she had just filmed me managing to pull my head out of the pumpkin.
Paragraph 2
That video was posted the day before Halloween. Actually my mom had asked whether she could post it on the Internet, because after all I was so embarrassed and looked so silly in it. Anyway, I nodded and supported her idea. It turned out that people liked and forwarded it crazily on the Internet, only to make me an Internet celebrity.
