Historically, most cars have run on gasoline(汽油), but that may change in the future: cars can also run on other liquid fuels(液体燃料)and electricity.
Gasoline is from oil. The energy in gasoline comes from hydrocarbons(碳氢化合物). Gasoline provides great power for cars. However, it causes environmental problems, like air pollution and temperature rise. So gasoline can’t be the best fuel.
Another choice is electricity Electricity cars can be as efficient(效能好的)as cars using gasoline. And they produce less pollution. But electric cars themselves are more expensive. Good news is that the cost has been lower and there are more and more places for the cars to get electricity ever since 2010.
The other choices are other liquid fuels. Many of these can be stored in the same places as gasoline, and used in the same cars. They can also be friendly to the environment.
One way to make such fuels is to get CO2 from the air and put it in water. Through chemical reaction, hydrocarbons can be created. However, these fuels take up more space.
Another way is to make such fuels from plants which take in carbon from the air. These fuels are greener in use. But not all of them can be as efficient as gasoline.
For a fuel to be the best, people have to be able to afford it. Unluckily, almost every green technology is more expensive than that of using gasoline. Governments and car producers are doing everything they can to cut down the costs. In the end, the best fuel will be both affordable for car users and green for our planet.
49. According to Paragraph 3, we can infer(推测)that electric cars___________.
A. produce less pollution B. will become more and more expensive
C. will become more popular D. are more efficient than those using gasoline
50. The structure of the passage may be___________.

When visitors to the Palace Museum feel a need to sit down for a cup of tea or find a bathroom without a long line, they soon will be able to turn to their smart phones for the information they need.
This modern solution comes thanks to an agreement signed on Friday by the museum and Huawei Co., the telecommunication giant, to build a “smart network” using5G technology. Under the agreement, 5G Wi-Fi signals will cover the Palace Museum, China’s royal palace from 1420 to 1911.
“It’s important to always stay close to the latest technology to better serve the public,” said Shan Jixiang, former director of the Palace Museum. Shan said there is still much room for improvement in the handling of a huge number of cultural relics, such as when the priceless painting “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” is exhibited again in the future. When it was last exhibited in 2015, visitors stood in long lines until 3 a.m. to have a look. The museum ended up preparing fast food to serve the hungry visitors. “I don't want that scenario to happen again", Shan said. “Our operation can be done in a more scientific way.”
The new system will also make use of the closed-cameras that are set up all over the Palace Museum to safeguard(保卫)the museum’s precious relics(文物). More than 1.86 million of them are housed at the museum, which recorded nearly 20 million visits from the public last year. “How can we make sure no single visitor who might have evil ideas threatens(威胁)these treasures ” Shan said. “After adopting(采用)the Internet of Things, we can immediately take action to prevent such threats.”
The 5G network also will be used to improve remote meeting through webcams, which will discuss with scholars to jointly find the best answers for repair and store issues.

That evening Holmes again wore different clothes, and a large, black hat. But it was not just the clothes that were different. He changed his face, his hair- his everything. He was a different man.
We walked together to Serpentine Avenue. Outside the house there were a lot of people who were smoking. Laughing and talking, Holmes and I walked up and down in front of the house.
“You see,” said Holmes to me, “I don't think she wants her new husband to see the photo. But where is it At her bank No. Such a woman likes to keep important things herself. I’m sure it’s in her house.”
“But the King’s men tried to find it!” I said.
“Yes. But they didn’t know where to look for it!” said Holmes. “But how will you know ” I asked. “She’ll show me. She’ll have to.”
Just then Irene’s taxi arrived. One of the men in the street ran to open the door and then another man pushed him. Other men were also pushing and shouting, and a fight began. Irene was in the middle of it, but Holmes ran to help her. Then suddenly he fell to the ground, with blood running down his face. Irene hurried to her front door, but she looked back. “How kind of him to help me! Is the poor man hurt ” she called.
“He’s dead, ” cried some voices. “No, he’s only hurt, ” cried others. “Bring him into the living room,” she said.
Some people carried Holmes into the house. I waited outside the window and watched. I saw how beautiful Irene was. Then Holmes put up his hand, and I threw the smoke-stick into the room. At once, the people in the street and in the house all began to shout “Fire!” very loudly. The house was full of smoke. I walked away, and ten minutes later Holmes came to meet me.
“Well done, Watson, ” he said. “Have you got the photo ” I asked.
“I know where it is. She showed me,” he answered. “But why did she show you ”
“It’s easy,” he said, and laughed. “You saw all those people in the street I paid them to help us. It wasn’t a real fight and the blood wasn’t real. When people shout ‘Fire!’, a woman runs to the most important thing in her house, her baby, her gold, or. …. . a photo. Irene ran to find her photo which is in a cupboard in the living room. I saw it. But I did not take it. Tomorrow we will go to the palace and tell it to the King first. And then we will go to her house with the King. We’ll go very early, before she gets up. Any time an astronaut gets out of a vehicle while in space, it is called a spacewalk. Astronauts go on spacewalks for many reasons. Spacewalks let astronauts work out of their spacecraft while still in space. Astronauts can do science experiments on a spacewalk. Experiments can be placed on the put side of a spacecraft. This lets scientists learn how things are different when they are in space.
Spacewalks also let astronauts test new equipment(仪器). They can repair satellites(卫星)or spacecraft that are in space. By going on spacewalks, astronauts no longer need to bring equipment back to Earth to fix.
When astronauts go on spacewalks, spacesuits keep them safe. Inside spacesuits, astronauts have the oxygen they need to breathe. They have the water they need to drink.
Astronauts put on their spacesuits several hours before a spacewalk. The suits are filled with oxygen. Once in their suits, astronauts breathe pure oxygen for a few hours. Breathing only oxygen removes all the nitrogen(氮气)in an astronaut’s body. If they didn’t do that, the astronauts might get gas bubbles in their body when they walked in space. These gas bubbles can cause astronauts to feel pain in their shoulders, elbows and knees.
Astronauts are now ready to get out of their spacecraft. They leave the spacecraft through a special door called an airlock(气闸室). The airlock has two doors. When astronauts are inside the spacecraft, the airlock is closed so no air can get out. When astronauts get ready to go on a spacewalk, they go through the first door and lock it tight behind them. They can then open the second door without any air getting out of the spacecraft. After a spacewalk, astronauts go back inside through the airlock.
When on a spacewalk, astronauts use safety tethers(系绳)to stay close to their spacecraft. Tethers are like ropes. One end is tied to the spacewalker. The other end is connected to the spacecraft. The safety tethers keep astronauts from floating away into space. Astronauts also use tethers to keep tools from floating away.
