Unit 2 Making a defference
1963, Chairman Mao Zedong designated the day as "Learn From Lei Feng Day" and started a national campaign for people to copy his good deeds.
Falling onMarch 5, "Learn from Lei Feng Day" is a day set aside to honor the spirit of helping others.
Being ready to help others is traditional Chinese moral virtues.

What kinds of good deeds are shown in the video
The video shows good deeds such as
visiting an elderly neighbour and asking if they need anything,
letting a restaurant manager know just how great their waiter or waitress is,
helping a classmate with their studies,
asking someone who looks lost if they need directions,
offering to help out with something in the home.
2. What idea does the video convey
We should always be ready to help others, because one small act can make a big difference.
Instead of asking for something in return, people pass on Pay It Forward cards. These cards are a way of aking the recipients to also do good deeds and then pass the cards to other people.
Both Pay It Forward Day and Charity Day in China remind us of the power of giving.
Let’s start small !
To do good deeds is to practice taking action towards benefiting others with kindness and compassion, and refrain from harming or bringing hurts to the lives of other people.
Every kind deed is like a seed, that can grow into a tree, and multiple into a good harvest. Never underestimated the power of any small good deed in our lives.

Red Adair
Bai Fangli is a hero who provided financial help to poor students. But this is no millionaire -- he made a living by pedalling a pedicab. Bai Fangli donated a total of 350,000 yuan to help more than 300 poor students continue with their studies.
In 2005, he passed away at the age of 93.
In 2012, he was awarded a special honour for “Touching China”.

Florence Nightingale
Often called “the Lady with the Lamp,” Florence Nightingale was a caring nurse and founder of modern nursing. She was a trailblazing figure in nursing who greatly affected 19th- and 20th-century policies around proper medical care.
she is mostly known for making hospitals a cleaner and safer place to be. The death rate declined greatly because of her efforts.
Red Adair
Red Adair (1915-2004) was an American oil-well firefighter.
During his career, he and his company put out lots of fires internationally, including the explosion of the Piper Alpha oil rig in the North Sea and the oil-well fries in Kuwait 科威特.
