教学目标
知识与技能:
1)掌握重点单词:event, medal, the high jump, the long jump, the 60m race, the 800m race, the 60m hurdles, second, minute, team.
2)学会用所学的单词和句型:What’s your favorite event 来交流,并表达自己的观点。

学情分析
六年级的学生有较强的记忆力和模仿能力,但知识的扩展运用能力有待提高。他们有较强的求知欲和表现欲,但部分学生存在着不自信,羞于表现等思想顾虑。因此,我在教学活动中尽量让他们参与到活动中来,使他们有更多的机会说英语,减少他们的恐惧感,从而丰富语言基础。通过设计不同层次、难度的任务,由学生间的合作学习等方式来降低学习难度,使他们体验到成功的喜悦,同时在阅读和书面表达中加以落实,提高他们综合运用语言的能力,使各层次的学生都有所收获。

【导入】一、 Warm up
1.Greetings.
2.Free talk: talk about unit 1 to 3.
【活动】二、 Presentation
(一)Lead out the new lesson:
1.Lead in:
T: I like to exercise. I am strong. Do you like sports Let me show you some pictures.
Show pictures and review the sports: swimming, table tennis, basketball, football, badminton, volleyball, skip, run in a race, throw a ball, catch a ball and so on.
2.Tell the difference between sports and events.
3.Learn swimmer, player, jumper, skipper, runner, thrower and catcher.
(1) Point to the picture and ask the students: Who is he/she
(2) Help them to answer: He is a swimmer./ player / jumper/ skipper/ runner/ thrower/ catcher.
4.Lead in new class and read the title.
T: This class, we will learn more sports. Unit 5 Faster, higher and stronger. We’ll have four teams. This is the medal. When the class is over, which team can get the medal So, come on, boys and girls.
(二)Learn the new word: the long jump
1.Show a picture and help the students to read the words correctly.
2.Questions:
Do you like the high jump
What’s your favorite sport
3. Teach favorite = like best.
4. Help the students to answer:
I like the high jump.
My favorite (sport) is the high jump.
5.Lead out new word: event.
(1) Show the word and teach the students to read it correctly.
(2) Explain event:
T:An event may be a kind of sports. But a sport may not be an event. For example, the skip is a sport, but it isn’t an event. The swimming is a sport. Also it is an event.
(3) Ask and answer: What’s your favorite event
(4) Point to the picture and ask the students: Who is he Help them answer the question and lead out the sentences: The jumpers must jump very high/well. Then teach the sentences.
(5) Ask the pupils to read the sentences together.
(6) Ask one or two students to answer the question: What’s your favorite event
(7) Lead out the new sentence: Which event do you like best and teach them to read it.
(8) Help the students answer it: I like the high jump.
(三)Learn new word: the long jump
Learn the long jump by using the same steps.
(四)Learn new word: the 60m race.
1. Show pictures and lead out the word.
2. Teach the students to read it.
3. Teach the students to read two different ways of saying the 60m race: the 60 meters race/ the 60-metre race.
4.Choose some pupils to read the words.
5. Ask and answer the questions: What’s your favorite event / Which event do you like best
6. Help the students to answer and lead out the sentence: The runners must be very fast.
(1) Point to the pictures: This is the runner. So, in 60m race, the runners must run very fast.
(2) Teach the whole class to read it.
7. Ask the students to read all the sentences.
(五)Learn new words: the 800m race and the 60m hurdles.
Use the same steps to learn these two words. Then, review the five words.(put up the pictures and words on the blackboard.)
(六)Add new words: softball, shooting, rowing, weightlifting and diving.
1. Learn: softball.
(1) Show a picture and lead out the word: softball.
(2) Teach the whole class to read.
(3) Ask some pupils to read it as the little teacher.
(4) Ask and answer the questions: Which event do you like best / What’s your favorite event
(5) Learn the new sentence: They are not easy.
A. Lead out the sentence.
B. Read it.
C. Explain easy←→hard=difficult.
D. Read the words.
(6) Read all the sentences.
2. Learn: shooting, rowing, weightlifting and diving.
(1) Use the same steps to learn the words.
(2) Practice:
A. Read the words one by one in groups.
B. high and low voice/ Chinese ←→ English
C. Ask some pupils to answer the questions: What’s your favorite event / Which event do you like best
(七) Play games:
1. Listen and guess: Which event is it
2. Magic tongues:
(1) Explain the rules: Ask and answer the questions in groups. The fastest group is the winner.
(2) One minute to practice in groups.
(3) Choose some pupils to ask and answer.
【讲授】三、 Learn Part A
1.Lead in:
T: Koko will have a Sports Day. Let’s have a look.
2. Play the video and listen.
3. Teach the students to read the sentences one by one.
4. Choose some pupils to role play Part A.
5. Give the keys words and sentence patterns to help them make new dialogues.(five or six pupils to show their dialogue)
【活动】四、 Extension:
1. Lead in:
T: Let’s look at some pictures about our Sports Day. They were doing very well. Zhou Ruibin is the highest. This boy was the fastest. Now, it’s your turn. Challenge yourself! Who has the fastest ears, eyes, tongue and hands.
2. The most sensitive ears.
(1) Take out the paper.
(2) Listen and fill up the blanks.
(3) Choose the most sensitive ears to check the answers.
(4) Give the prize to the first place.(in group)
3. The sharpest eyes.
(1) Show pictures and letters.
(2) Choose the fastest pupils to answer.
4. The most flexible tongue.
(1) Show the sentences.
(2) Give them one or two minutes to practice.
(3) Choose three or four pupils to say. (1/group)
5. The nimblest hands.
(1) Explain the rules:
T:You should write the words(about sports or comparatives and superlatives) as many as you can in one minute.
(2) Give one minute to write.
(3) Check the answers and give the prize.
【练习】五、 Make a survey:
1.Sum up the winner and lead in:
T: Now, Team 2 is the winner/the first place. So, in the last task,you should work hard. But at the first beginning, you must know the rules.
2. Show and explain the rules:
3. Give the student paper and ask them to practice in teams.
4. Choose someone or the team leader to report their favorite events and record the pupils’ favorite events.
5. Sum up the favorite event of the whole class.
(1) T: On the Sports Day, if we want to be the best/winner. What should we do
(2) Students discuss and choose someone to say the advice.
(3) Give them some advices.
【作业】六、 Homework:
1. Listen and read Part A &B1.
2. Talk with your friends about your favorite events.
3.Find more signs about the events/sports and draw them.
