Schools in the UK are cutting time spent on PE lessons because of exam pressure, a survey has found. Secondary school teachers said that older teenagers were particularly likely to miss out, as 38 percent said time spent on physical education for 14-to 16-year-olds had fallen in the past five years.
Teachers said that increased pressure to improve exam results was leading children to be pulled out of PE lessons. One in three said exam pressure was behind the decline, while 38 percent said main subjects such as English and Maths had been given more time at the expense of PE.
Almost all of the teachers from the 487 schools said PE should be more valued for its benefits to young people. Mental health experts also warned that cutting down on exercise could exacerbate(使加重) children's mental health problems. Cal Strode, spokesman for the Mental Health Foundation, said cutting PE time would be short-sighted and risk widespread results. He said, "It is worrying to hear that PE is being cut at a time when students are facing problems with stress and anxiety in increasing numbers. There's a close relationship between our mental and physical health."
Tom Madders, Director of Communications, Campaigns and Participation at the charity YoungMinds, said, "Schools' cutting down on physical education because of exam pressure is worrying. Schools that value health also tend to do better academically, so it makes sense to focus on keeping good mental health, rather than putting children under more pressure."
Rising exam pressure has previously been raised as an issue by experts who warn that children are under greater pressure because of a competitive job market. Ali Oliver, an expert, said, "PE contributes to physical, social and mental health. So cuts in physical education time are depriving young people of these benefits at a time when they have never needed them more. We will be selling this and future generations short if physical education is not made fit for the 21st century and put at the heart of a broad and balanced curriculum in our schools."

B. To introduce a phenomenon in the UK schools.

Are you always disturbed by the noise made by your co-workers while you're working hard at your task What kind of feelings will you have on hearing such kind of noise Have you ever got an idea that a certain helmet will help you out of the trouble so you can focus on your work at the office Now, you needn't worry for the "Helmfon" will help you ignore noisy co-workers and other distractions.
Created by the Ukrainian design company Hochu rayu, the Helmfon is a big helmet that uses special equipment to absorb the sound so as to completely block any outside noise, giving the wearers their own quiet personal space so they can better focus their attention on their work. Made of a glass fiber shell, cloth and other materials, the helmet not only blocks outside sound, but it also keeps the noise you make in, allowing you to answer calls, hold WeChat conferences and watch or edit videos privately.
The company came up with the idea for the Helmfon after being asked to design a new phone booth for an IT company. The project made the team think about the way we communicate and finally begin work on a device that would allow you to be in two worlds just sitting on your chair in the office, in a meeting, or everywhere you feel like just wearing your helmet.
The Helmfon comes complete with a system board, a microphone, speakers and a special holder for your phone. The only trouble is that it makes you look like a character from Mel Brooks' famous science fiction film, Spaceballs, but the company also provides a variety of great choices, including Batman-inspired design, and even Native American headgear.
The Helmfon is still in the prototype(雏形) stage, but the Ukrainian company is already working on commercially available design and plans to offer the design for sale. A release date has not yet been made public.

What do you do when nobody is around to take your picture You take a selfie. But what about selfies in space NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who famously became the second man to walk on the moon in July 1969, said that he took the first selfie in space during the Gemini 12 mission in 1966.
"For me, it needs to be digital to be a selfie," argues Jennifer Levasseur, who is in charge of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. According to Levasseur, the concept of a selfie is directly linked to Internet culture and the human desire to interact on social platforms. "The thing that makes a selfie is sharing it," she says.
Still, astronauts have been carrying cameras aboard space vehicles since the 1960s. In 1966, Aldrin used a Hasselblad camera designed specifically for space. Hasselblad also painted the first camera in space matte black(磨砂黑) to reduce reflections in the window of the orbiter. But cameras used in space need to survive extreme conditions, like temperature swinging from -149 °F to 248 °F, so Hasselblad painted later models silver.
Astronauts had to pull the film magazines(胶卷盒) out and leave their cameras behind when they returned to Earth, because early space missions were restricted by a weight limit on the return trip.
A big change in space camera technology came after the sad loss of the space shuttle Columbia, which broke apart on its return to Earth in 2003. "Fearing that they would never be able to bring the film back from space and lose all that hard work accelerated the push for being digital," Levasseur says.
Today, astronauts can have access to the Internet and social platforms in space and post true space selfies taken by digital cameras.
12. How did the Hasselblad camera adapt to space temperature changes
A. By changing its inner design. B. By reducing its reflections.
C. By making it stronger. D. By painting it silver.
13. Why were cameras left in space on early space missions
A. To lighten the load of the spaceship.
B. To test cameras under extreme conditions.
C. To prepare for the next space exploration.
D. To take more pictures on the next trip.
14. What advanced space camera technology
A. The invention of new films.
B. The popularity of space selfies.
C. The concern about the loss of valuable data.
D. The fear of falling behind in the space race.
15. What is the best title for the text
A. The Origin of Selfies in Space
B. The History of Selfies in Space
C. The Significance of Selfies in Space
D. The Technique of Selfies in Space

There was a rich couple who was holding a big party at their house. So they went shopping at the market where everything was expensive, but they didn't mind paying a lot for it. After buying everything they needed, they called a porter(搬运工) to carry it and drop it off to their home. The porter who came was of an old age, not very healthy looking. His clothes were torn and he looked as if he wasn't even able to meet his daily needs.
They asked the porter about the charges for sending their goods to their home. The old porter quoted them $ 20, a price well below the market rate. Yet, the couple argued and bargained(讨价还价) with the porter and finally settled for $ 15. The porter was trying to make money for every meal so he needed anything he could earn.
The couple was very happy, thinking how well they bargained with the poor porter. They paid him $ 15 in advance and left after giving the porter their home address. They reached their home and two hours passed, the porter still hadn't delivered their stuff.
The wife started to get angry at her husband, "I always tell you not to trust such a person but you never listen to me. Such a person is not even able to earn to feed himself for one time in a day; and you handed him everything we bought for our big party. I am sure he must have disappeared with everything. We must immediately go back to the market to inquire and then to the police station to file the complaint against him."
They both went to the market. On their way, near the market, they saw a young porter. They stopped him to inquire about the old porter and noticed that he was carrying their stuff in his cart!

The angry wife asked him, "Where is that old thief This is our stuff."

Despite falling down, he never forgot his promise and handed me $15, keeping telling me to deliver it as fast as possible"
Upon hearing this, the husband had tears in his eyes and turned to his wife. "He was hungry, he was poor, but he was truly an honest man," the husband admitted with trembling voice. At that, the wife was struck dead with shame, heart beating painfully fast and banging against her ribs. How could she be angry with such a kind and responsible man Like a child who made a mistake, she had no courage to look into her husband's eyes. Through all these unexpected things, it eventually dawned on her that honesty has no class and she should respect everyone regardless of their financial and social status.
