Free time is a good chance for teenagers to have fun. What about free time with parents around Some teenagers want free play without parents’ supervision(监管) while parents and experts(专家) may think differently.
Lin Tao, a middle school student, thinks teenagers should be free to play. “Last time I played with my parents around, I was nervous and just couldn’t enjoy myself to the fullest,” Lin says. “And my friend Chen Xiaoxin has similar experiences. Once, he went out to play with his classmates. Everyone felt uncomfortable with his mother’s supervision. ”
Wang Min, a mother of a 14-year-old boy, thinks playtime needs supervision. She explains, “People usually say I like to control my kid, but that’s not true. I am just worried that he will get into trouble. Some guys may have a bad influence on him, and some games like LARP(剧本杀) may mislead him. He might even get indulged in the stories and can’t get back to real life. ”
Mr. Ma, a doctor of social studies, says it’s understandable for teenagers to wish for freedom. Free play helps them to be independent. Parents can give them more space. They don’t have to supervise them all the time. However, teenagers should find out the exact details(细节) about the activities before playtime. Then they can communicate with their parents and decide together whether they can go out to play alone.

When I was a little child, I learned many kinds of skills. I learned how to do chores around the house, some first aid(急救) and outdoor survival(生存) skills. There’s one skill that’s really useful in everyday life—basic home repair (家庭基础维修).
Being able to take care of repairs around the house is very satisfying. It might be difficult at first, but when you know more about your tools, it becomes easier.
For example, I had some problems with the showerhead(淋浴喷头) in my bathroom a few days ago. I didn’t call a repairman to replace(替换) it—who knows how much money the repairman would want me to pay for it So I bought a new showerhead and replaced it myself.
The task was so simple that it only took me several minutes. As I fixed the new showerhead on, I felt a sense of achievement. Of course, there are lots of repairs that are more difficult. My brother, for example, has repaired the TV set in his house many times. With the help of online instructional videos, he has saved thousands of dollars in repairman fee(费用) over the years.
Skills like these not only save us money, but more importantly, make us more independent and confident.
Doing chores around your house is easier than you think.

Many teenagers say they’d like to live alone. Why Well, this is because they want to be independent and do whatever they wish.
But are there only disadvantages for young people who live with their families To answer this question, we should first mention some of the advantages. First, they don’t have to cook for themselves. It is true that there are several young people who know how to prepare something to eat. But on the other hand, there are some people who hate cooking and like to buy hamburgers instead. However, to live alone offers somebody complete independence: you can listen to music at high volume or invite your good friends for a party at any time. But in case you disturb some of your neighbours, then it is your own responsibility(责任) to answer the door and say sorry to them.
However, it is very important to live alone as a teenager. You learn to make a daily plan for yourself, to have things put in order, to prepare something to eat, to go shopping and pay your bills.

What Are Good Parents like
Recently we have had a lively discussion about what good parents are like. Different students have different ideas.
Sam thinks good parents are understanding. They never push us too hard when we get poor grades. Bob says good parents are supportive and always bring out the best in us. Amy agrees that good parents are like stars in the sky. Sometimes we can’t see them, but they are always there.
In my opinion, good parents should be good teachers as well as our good friends. They should also set good examples for us.
