Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris—Marne laVallee, France
It opened on April 12, 1992. Its layout (布局) is similar to that of the Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California and Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida; it even has a Sleeping Beauty Castle. There are changes to the design of the park to make it better suited for the Parisian weather; the hotels and restaurants have fire places, and covered walkways are built around the park. Occupying an area of about 140 acres, its attractions include Phantom Manor (its version of the Haunted Mansion), Space Mountain: Mission 2 and Disneyland Railroad.
Tokyo DisneySea—Tokyo, Japan
Said to be the most expensive theme park ever built at 335 billion yen, the Tokyo DisneySea also has the record of being visited by 10 million guests in the shortest time since opening. 307 days after its opening on September 4, 2001, it posted 10 million visits. The park has seven areas, or “ports of call” as they are called in the park; they are Mediterranean Harbour, American Waterfront, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, and Mysterious Island. Its attractions include Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Raging Spirits and Aquatopia.
Tokyo Disneyland—Tokyo, Japan
Just like Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris, this park was built after the blueprints of Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida. Opening on April 15, 1983, it features seven themed areas: the World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, Critter Country and Mickey’s Toontown. Its attractions include Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek, Western River Railroad, Pooh's Honey Hunt, Space Mountain and the Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents Aloha e Komo Mai!
Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort—California, USA
Opening on July 17, 1955, this park is the only Disneyland park built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney himself. This is also one of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, with the other, Disney California Adventure Park opening in 2001. Many animals and plants are endangered in the world today. These endangered species are threatened with becoming extinct, meaning they will no longer exist on Earth. Examples include the Cuban Macaw and the Sri Lankan Legume Tree. Illegal hunting, and collecting of the Macaw bird for pets, led to its extinction. While the main reason the native Sri Lankan Legume Tree went extinct was due to habitat loss from development in the 20th century. The main cause for animals and plants disappearing is often a damage to the food chain due to hunting, habitat loss or even the introduction of invasive species.
Every living thing from one-celled animals to a blue whale needs to eat. Nature is connected and controlled by many fragile food chains. A food chain describes who eats whom in a habitat. When one of the links in a food chain is no longer present —for example, a species goes extinct—the food chain breaks and sometimes this can cause other animals to disappear and the whole system can become imbalanced or even collapsed.
Humans can have disastrous effects on food chains. When people first explored the world, they took animal and plant species from their home countries to the places they explored and settled in. They did not realise the consequences of introducing invasive species. By doing so, they were damaging the natural food chains of the areas they explored.
Nowadays there are strict rules controlling the movement of animals and plants between countries. But some parts of the world are still experiencing problems with invasive species introduced hundreds of years ago.
With rising awareness of how we affect the natural environment, hopefully we can learn to protect these food chains and help them to thrive. Otherwise the continued loss of species will eventually mean our own extinction.;

China and India are leaders in improving global tree cover, a new study based on NASA research showed.
They took a 31.8 percent part together of the total global new leaf area between 2000 and 2017. China played a major role, adding 25 percent to this increase, and India added 6.8 percent, followed by Canada and Russia.
The study in the Nature Sustainability journal shows that more than 5.5 million square kilometers of green leaf area was added globally. Since 2000, there has been a 5 percent increase in global green cover, it said.
“The greening over the last twenty years shows an increase in leaf area on plants and trees which is as large as the area of the entire Amazon rainforest,” Chi Chen, a Boston University researcher and leader of the study told Nature Sustainability. Large plantation activities to protect forests in China contributed nearly 42 percent to the country’s green cover, and agriculture (农业) added another 32 percent. In India, 82 percent of the increase in leaf area was because of agriculture.
“China and India take up one-third of the greening, but hold only nine percent of the planet’s land area covered in green plants,” Chi Chen told NASA Earth Observatory. “That is a surprising finding, considering the land degradation (退化) in countries with large populations.”
Boston University’s research team first detected an increase in global green cover in the 1990s but were unsure what contributed to the increase. Finally, with the help of NASA’s Terra and Aqua satellites research, they managed to find out the increase in leaf cover from different areas and places.;
8. Which country contributed to the largest increase in the global new leaf area
A.India. B.China. C.Russia D.Canada.;
9. For what purpose did the author mention the Amazon rainforest
A.To show the major role of rainforest.
B.To explain the reason for developing agriculture.
C.To describe the difficulty in protecting forests.
D.To stress the great increase in global green cover.;
10. What did Chi Chen think of the new finding
A.Worrying. B.Interesting. C.Unexpected. D.Meaningless.;
11. What does the underlined word “detected” probably mean
A.Imagined. B.Discovered. C.Studied. D.Doubted.

42. Good morning, everyone. It’s my great honor to be here and give a speech on saving food.
At present, many students do not cherish food and waste a lot of food, and this phenomenon is very serious and needs everyone’s attention. China is a country with a large population. If everyone does not cherish food, it will pose a major threat to China’s food security. To this end, in order to let everyone develop a good habit of cherishing food, here are some suggestions. First of all, start with yourself and take action every day. Secondly, call on more students to cherish food. Finally, call on different social organizations or groups to strengthen publicity activities on food conservation through different forms, so that ordinary people can make it enter their hearts and minds and contribute to food conservation together.
In short, I hope that everyone can get together and jointly maintain food.
That’s all. Thank you for listening.
