Ladies and gentlemen,
It is my great honor to have a chance to make a speech here. Today, I want to talk about our shared home — the Amazon rainforest. Recently, a raging fire broke out in the Amazon rainforest and lasted for 21 days, which leaves results that we can’t afford.
Actually, the Amazon rainforest has a crucial influence on the Earth’s eco-balance and people’s lives. First of all, it is home to a variety of wildlife. More than 40,000 plant species lived in this fantastic forest. More than 1,300 species of birds and over 400 species of mammals can be found here. What’s more, known as the “lungs of the planet”, it contributes almost 20 percent of the earth’s oxygen and has a significant effect on the world’s climate.
As a citizen in the earth, we couldn’t live a better life without the Amazon rainforest. It’s time for us to make joint efforts to protect it.
