Can you imagine a cloud floating in the middle of your room Do you want to know what it feels like to fly like a bird We have picked out four interesting inventions to share with you.
Talking Gloves
Four foreign students have created a pair of gloves, and it helps people to communicate with people who have hearing and speaking problems. The gloves are equipped with sensors (传感器). They recognize sign language and translate it into text on a smartphone. Then the smartphone changes the text to spoken words. Thus you can understand sign language easily.
Google Glasses
Google Glasses are like a computer built into a pair of glasses. The glasses allow you to surf the Internet and make calls without even lifting a finger. The glasses also have a camera and GPS. Users can take and share photos, check maps and surf the Internet just by looking up, down, left and right.
Indoor Clouds
That's a real world. An artist, Smilde, managed to create a small but perfect white cloud in the middle of a room using a fog machine. But it required careful planning—the temperature, humidity (湿度) and lighting; all had to be just right. The cloud only lasted for a short while.
Wingsuits
The suit helps you realize your dream of flying like a bird. Well, not exactly flying, but gliding (滑翔) through the air. It increases the surface area of the human body, which makes it easier for people to float in the air. Fliers wearing wingsuits can glide one kilometer in about 30 seconds.
44. What do “Talking Gloves” help people to understand
A. Spoken words.
B. Sign language.
C. Written words.
D. The text on the smartphone.
45. How can users of “Google Glasses” surf the Internet

B. By tapping the keyboard.
C. By lifting a finger.
D. By moving the eyeballs.

In the past ten years, great progress has been made in technology. It seems that everything has been greatly improved. But there is one different thing. It was invented over 100 years ago but remained unchanged for a long time. I'm talking about the walking stick for the blind.
The white stick has been used by many blind people for a long time. However, it hadn't really been improved, until a blind engineer named Kursat decided to do something to change that. He hoped his invention would help the blind.
He invented a smart stick called the WeWalk. The smart stick uses built in speakers and different sensors (传感器) to warn about possible dangers. It helps blind people in navigating (确定方位) around their environment. It makes their travel much easier. The stick is priced at around $500. It is less than half the price of many smartphones. Most people can afford it. This invention is going to change life a lot for the blind.
Kursat well understands the difficulties that the blind face. That's because he is blind himself. He decided to put his knowledge of technology into inventing something. It would not only change his life, but also the life of many others.
“These days, we are talking about flying cars. But the blind have been using just a simple stick. As a blind person, when I am at the bus stop, I don't know which bus is coming or which stores are around me. Now, that kind of information can be provided by the WeWalk,” he said. “I believe life of the blind will be much easier and safer. ”
48. What's the third paragraph mainly about
A. The name of the smart stick.
B. The reason for inventing the WeWalk.
C. The introduction of the WeWalk.
D. The future of the WeWalk.
49. Which words can we use to describe Kursat
A. Creative and caring.
B. Smart and thankful.
C. Healthy and lucky.
D. Rich and outgoing.
50. Which one is Kursat's idea
A. Flying cars are more important than the WeWalk.
B. The blind shouldn't take the bus.
C. With the WeWalk, the blind can find their way more easily.
D. The WeWalk can solve all the problems for the blind.

What will the world of tomorrow be like Many people today believe that technology is going to help solve some of the most difficult problems we have on earth today. New technology may solve old problems, but it may also create new ones. No technology is perfect. It has advantages and disadvantages, as these three examples show.
When we dream about the future, many of us think that we will be able to fly to the skies in our own flying car. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, if the cars become popular, there will be problems with traffic control.
3D printing is another new technology for the future. 3D printers are already used to make life-size models of car parts, and man-made body parts, such as ears. As we move into the future, 3D printing will change the way we make things and the way we treat sick people. The disadvantage is that such a machine is very expensive.
Finally, people are trying to build a robot suit(套装). This is an electronic suit. It allows people to lift heavy objects and walk a long way. It might help people walk again after an illness or an accident. However, one disadvantage at the moment is the cost.
When we look ahead, it is easy to imagine a future. We will be able to fly to work, print out a new pair of shoes or lift a car above our heads. Although there are some problems to solve before all of these things are possible, we can certainly dream of a world. In this world, technology makes people's life easier and safer. It can solve some of the most difficult problems we have today.

Ⅸ. The smartphone is a great invention in our modern life. It was invented by IBM in the United States in 1993. There is no doubt that we have benefited a lot from smartphones.
We can read news, watch films, take photos, pay for things, chat with friends, keep in touch with our relatives, or play games to get relaxed. The smartphone helps in life and makes communication easier. But every coin has two sides. Smartphones also have bad effects on people. Too much use is bad for eyes and affects study. It's very common for young people to lower their heads to check something on smartphones.
I think we should make good use of the smartphone. It is just a tool, not the main part of our life.
