Good morning, everyone. I’m glad to have this opportunity to share my lesson plan presentation with all of you. My topic today is lesson E what’s this. And my presentation consists of eight parts .Next,I will introduce these eight parts in details.
Part1.Teaching material analysis
The topic of my lesson is what’s this, which is taken from the lesson E of Sichuan Education Press, primary English book, grade 3.The learning of this lesson is very important because the sentence pattern is commonly used in our daily life.
Part2.Students analysis
The students are in grade 3.And I will analyze them from three aspects.
First, their knowledge experience: they have learned English for more than 2 years, so it is not difficult for them to listen and speak some daily life English, but their listening and speaking abilities still need to be improved.
Second, their cognitive rules: they are inclined to focus on audio-visual image. Besides, though they have a wide range of interests, they tend to have poor attention and focus.(so in this lesson, I will use pictures .radios and videos to help students understand the contents and draw their attention)
Third, their emotional attitude: they are curious and active, eager to learn new and interesting things.
Part3.Learning objectives
Knowledge objectives: students will be able to recognize some new words, and say them with natural intonation and accurate pronunciation, such as pig , fox , panda, rabbit, snake. Besides, after learning this lesson, they can perform the dialogue and use the sentence pattern “What’s this ” “It’s a ......” to express their thoughts in the proper situation.
Ability objective: students will be able to understand the learning content and improve their listening and speaking abilities through group cooperating and role playing.
Moral objective: students will cultivate and foster their abilities of working in groups and they will be interested in English.
Part4.Key point&Difficult point
Key point: to make sure that students can use the sentence pattern“What’s this ” “It’s a ......” correctly and skillfully in the proper situation.
Difficult point: to make sure that students can pronounce the new words correctly, such as pig , fox , panda, rabbit, snake, and communicate with other by using the new sentence pattern “What’s this ” “It’s a ......”
Part5.Teaching methods&Learning methods
Considering students’ physical and mental development features , and teaching material’s feature , in this lesson, I’ll mainly use Phonics Teaching Method, Pre-listening While-listening and Post-listening teaching method, and Task-based teaching method. The learning methods of this lesson will be focused on listening and saying, cooperative methods.
Part7.Teaching aids
During the teaching process, cards, CAI , computer will be needed.
Part6.Teaching procedures
My teaching procedures include six steps.
At the very beginning of the class, I will divide the students into four groups.
Step1.Warming-up. (pre-listening)This step will cost 5 minutes.
In this part ,I will use the sentence they have learned in lesson A “how are you” to greet the students. And then, I will show students a small video with a chant “watch watch, let’s watch”to begin the class. With the chant “your pens” “my pen” “your notebooks” “my notebooks” , students will be ready to take notes according to the video. After that,we will check the notes together. In this part,Ss will be familiar with the key sentence “What’s this ” “It’s a cat/dog/duck.”according to the video. In this way, I can make the students pay attention to our class easily ,improve their listening ability and make a lead-in .
Step2.while-listening(This step will cost about 20 minutes)
First, learning the dialogue through listening. I’ll show students a radio which appears in their book for twice. They will begin with a chant , clapping hands and take notes while listening. In this part, Ss can say out the key sentence easily because they are familiar with it in the warming-up part. Then,I will ask Ss to share what they heard by acting. If it is difficult for Ss to understand the sentence “I don’t know” and “Just guess”,I will act it out to help them guess and understand it..
After this, I’ll let the students listen and repeat the tape sentence by sentence according to a picture in the text. And then, I will let them point to the text with their fingers and teach them sentence by sentence for twice .Ss will imitate the intonation and pronunciation. Then they will read the text together or do a role-play in groups.
Purpose: Primary school students are inclined to focus on audio-visual image, so listening to the tape and watching the pictures can help them to perceive and understand the content. Besides, presenting the new words and sentences by guessing and acting can help them understand the language easily. In addition, point to the text with figures can attract their attention.
Step3.post-listening (This step will cost about 6 minutes)
In this step, I will show some the new words in this lesson and practice the sentence. First, I will show some animals’ pictures and teach them the new word by listening to the radio. After that, I will show part of those pictures and ask Ss to guess “What’s this”.Ss will say out “It’s a ...”to practice the sentence. In this part, I will use some gestures to help Ss remember this sentence. Finally, I will ask Ss to work in groups to practice it.
Purpose: The pictures and gestures can draw students’ attention and provide them with a good chance to show themselves. What’s more, group work can develop their team work spirit, and practice their oral English.
Step4:Production (This step will cost 6 minutes)
In this step, I’ll show students some pictures about a zoo and give them some clues, and then ask them to work in pairs to create a dialogue. And then, I’ll ask them to show their dialogue and make some comments.
Purpose: Through this activity, students’ activeness and creativity will be stimulated. Besides, it can also create an active class atmosphere which can make students focus on class.
Step5:Summary
In this step, I’ll make a summary through a mind map and make some comments.
Purpose: Doing these activities can give students more opportunities to join the class and consolidate the contents of this class. What’s more, it can help students train their team spirit by working in groups and their summary ability.
Step6: Homework
In the end, I will show the homework.
