Unit 11 How was your school trip

Grade level: 7th grade
Objectives:
Students will be able to talk about their experiences on a school trip.
Students will be able to use past tense verbs to describe actions and events.
Materials:
Pictures of different types of school trips
Whiteboard and markers
Handouts with vocabulary related to school trips
Worksheets with dialogue for discussing a school trip
Warm-up:
Show pictures of different types of school trips on the board (e.g. museum, zoo, park, etc.) and ask students to name them.
Presentation:
Introduce vocabulary related to school trips using pictures and descriptions of different types of school trips. Go through each item several times until students are comfortable with the pronunciation and meaning.
Model how to talk about a school trip using past tense verbs. For example, "We visited the museum and saw some amazing paintings." "We played soccer in the park and had a great time."
Discuss the importance of using past tense verbs to describe actions and events that have already happened.
Practice:
Have students work in pairs to practice discussing their experiences on a school trip using the dialogue provided on the worksheet.
Distribute handouts with vocabulary related to school trips and have students match them up with the correct pictures.
Have students write a short paragraph about their favorite part of a school trip they have been on.
Production:
Ask students to share their favorite part of a school trip they have been on in front of the class.
Have a few students role-play a conversation about a school trip in front of the class.
Assessment:
Observe students during the practice and production stages to assess their ability to use past tense verbs accurately. The written paragraph can also be assessed for accuracy.
Extension:
Have students write a short story about a fictional school trip they would like to go on.
Have students create a slideshow or video about a recent school trip they went on, including pictures and descriptions of the places they visited and what they did.
Play a game where students take turns describing a school trip they have been on and the other students have to guess where they went and what they did.
Have students research a famous museum, park or other attraction in a different country and create a presentation or poster about it, including pictures and interesting facts.
For homework, students can be assigned the following tasks:
Write a reflection on their favorite part of a school trip they have been on and what they learned from the experience.
Create a travel brochure for a school trip to a popular tourist destination, including information about the sights, activities, and accommodations.
Watch a video or read an article about a famous museum, park, or other attraction and write a summary of what they learned.
Research a school trip destination and create a presentation or poster about it, including pictures and interesting facts.
Write a letter to a friend describing a recent school trip and asking about their own experiences on school trips.
