一、阅读理解(本大题共15小题,共30.0分)

Shopping in Paris, France Every visitor to Paris goes shopping. Street markets, elegant passages, beautiful department stores, bookstalls along the Seine, fine museum shops—Paris is the perfect place for shoppers.
Covered Passages
You can combine shopping and sightseeing by visiting some of the beautiful covered passages of Paris. These 19th-century glass-roofed arcades(商场) were wildly popular for a while. Today about 20 remain, offering a variety of shops and restaurants, as well as interesting architecture and design.
Markets
Paris is best known for its wonderful markets. Open-air markets, covered markets and market streets all offer fresh delicious food. They're great fun and worth visiting, even if you're not planning on cooking.
Flower Market
The Marché aux Fleurs (Flower Market) is just upstairs from the Cité station. Come any day of the week to enjoy the flowers, whether you buy or not. On Sunday, the flower market becomes a pet market.
Designer Shops
All of the great French fashion houses have shops in Paris, of course, and the great department stores sell all sorts of good French stuff. If you want to see a street full of top design, stroll down Avenue Montaigne.
Flea Market
For a real shopping adventure, take the Metro to Porte de Clignancourt station on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday for an adventure in the vast Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, also known as the Clignancourt Flea Market, with several thousand stalls, shops, and vendors selling everything from used blue jeans to paintings and furniture.
Museum Shops
Most of Paris' great museums have museum shops selling art, books, and souvenirs of high quality at very reasonable prices.

It sounded like ice, that awful sound I heard in the icy Cook Inlet years ago. It didn't alarm me, and that's how I knew I was asleep, because there was no ice where we were.
My door flew open, the engineer shouting, "Get up!" I got out and climbed up into the wheelhouse, and there in front of us was the reef marker, the one that we shouldn't get anywhere near. Our ship ran aground(搁浅), and in the open waters a 6-foot swell(浪涌) was rolling in over the reef, picking up the ship and dropping us onto the reef with a frightening shake. We were stuck, and were going to break up on that reef if we stayed there. On the cold Alaskan night, if you went into the water, you only had a few minutes before death came.
I started telling jokes. No one was hurt! The ship was still holding together, and we still had the lifeboats. Even when what we had to do was try to survive, there was much to be thankful for. When you find yourself in that kind of situation, thinking a lot about the failures that got you to that point serves no purpose. Worrying about it would not save anyone, so we went to work. Finally, we got ourselves off the reef and moved slowly to a bay, with the bottom holed. I'll never forget the feeling of being safe in the bay after that accident.
I would like to say that it makes no sense to focus on the 5% which is bad in your life, when 95% of it is good. In truth, even when 95% of it is bad, it still makes sense to be thankful for the 5% that is good. There is always something to be thankful for in a horrible situation, and always something to be learned on a spiritual level. Gratitude(感激) isn't just a direct line to happiness; it can also save your life!
4. Why did the awful sound fail to alarm the author
A. It was a scene happening in his dream.
B. He was too sleepy to notice it.

A. Lifeboats are necessities in voyages.
B. The body of the ship was broken completely.
C. The major worry for those on board was safety.

7. What does the author advise people to do at last
A. Try to live in the present.
B. Be brave in the face of danger.
C. Always be thankful for what they have.
D. Never give up the chance of success.

A group of wandering wild elephants, called "The Northbound Wild Elephant Eating and Walking Tour", have become an overnight Internet sensation(轰动) in China and globally. The pack first caught the attention of the locals in March 2020, after they suddenly left their home in the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve.
While the original group was made up of 16 Asian elephants, two decided to return home after a week. The rest have continued their journey northward. Since leaving the reserve, the elephants have walked over 310 miles (500 kilometers). Along the way, they have searched farms for food and water, walked through urban streets, and even paid a visit to a car shop and a retirement home. Thanks to the government officials, no animals or people have been hurt. However, the elephants have destroyed more than $1 million worth of crops.
Researchers are not sure why the elephants decided to leave or where they are headed. While they are known to leave their habitats in search of food, this is the longest migration of wild elephants recorded in China. Because of the extreme distance traveled, some guess that the elephants may wander off. Elephant expert Chen Mingyong told Xinhua News Agency that the herd's leader possibly "lacks experience and has made the whole group get lost".
However, other scientists think the elephants were forced to move due to cutting down or burning the trees. Successful efforts have almost doubled the elephant population in the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve and the surrounding regions. However, their natural habitat has been reduced to make room for agricultural development.
The wandering herd's search for a suitable home has not gone overlooked by the millions of locals that eagerly follow their daily movements on social media. Adam Chang, assigned(分配) to deliver food to the elephants, said, "Before this meeting, I just felt curious about animals. Now, I think I would volunteer in animal rights groups to protect those giant creatures."
8. Why did this group of elephants draw the locals' attention
A. They left the reserve. B. They ruined crops.
C. They wandered in local areas. D. They have increased in number.
9. What can we know about the elephants according to Chen Mingyong
A. They may have lost their way.
B. They aim to find new habitats.
C. They go on the yearly migration.
D. They are troubled by extreme weather.
10. What does the underlined word "overlooked" in the last paragraph mean
A. Shocked. B. Confused. C. Unnoticed. D. Separated.
11. What is the best title for the text
A. China's Wild Elephants Are Seasonally Migrating
B. Officials Are Trying to Guide Wild Elephants Home
C. China's Wandering Wild Elephants Attract the World
D. Increasing Human Activities Ruin Wild Elephants' Home

Singapore researchers say they have developed a form of electronic skin that can create a sense of touch. They hope their invention will give people prosthetic(假体的) hands with the ability to identify different objects.
The skin device measures 1 square centimeter. The system contains 100 small sensors that attempt to recreate things like texture(质地), temperature and even pain. The researchers call the device Asynchronous Coded Electronic Skin, or ACES, which can process information faster than the human nervous system. Machine learning methods trained the device to recognize 20 to 30 different textures. It can even correctly read Braille letters most of the time.
The system does not require the users' movement to work. Humans just need to move to feel texture. But in this case the skin, with just a single touch, is able to recognize textures of different roughness.
A demonstration showed that the device could identify the difference between a soft ball and a solid plastic one. "When you lose your sense of touch, you become numb(麻木的) and prosthetic users face that problem," said Benjamin Tee, leader of the research team. "So by recreating an artificial(人造的) version of the skin, for their prosthetic devices, they can hold a hand and feel the warmth and feel that it is soft."
Tee said his idea for the device came partly from the movie Star Wars, when character Luke Skywalker loses his right hand and it is replaced with a robotic one. In the film, the new hand is able to experience the sensation of touch just like the real one.
The artificial skin technology is still going through experiments and development. But Tee said there had already been a lot of interest in the system, especially from the medical community. Tee said similar inventions that his team has developed include see-through skin that can repair itself when torn and a material for wearable electronic devices that gives off light. The team hopes to make the technology to the market in the near future.
12. What can we know about the skin device from paragraph 2
A. It can measure the temperature.
B. It helps reduce the pain.
C. It can recognize hundreds of textures.
D. It is better at information processing.
13. What is paragraph 4 mainly about
A. The problem of the technology.
B. The advantage of artificial skin.
C. The method of creating prosthetic devices.
D. The exercise of improving the sense of touch.
14. Why is the movie Star Wars mentioned
A. To advertise the new technology.
B. To explain the real sensation of touch.
C. To stress the importance of robotic hands.
D. To show one reason for creating the device.
15. What do the researchers expect of the artificial skin technology
A. It will be convenient to wear.
B. It will reach consumers soon.
C. It will have better repairing function.
D. It will be made of recycled materials.

It was the middle of the day with the bright sun, blue sky, green grass, and a soft breeze(微风). It was a great day to play outside and the best day of my life because I got a new ball and a new bike as my sixth birthday presents, and I was visiting my cousin, Kristy, at her house.
"Here I go!" shouted David while kicking my new ball. David lived next door and was older than me. I thought he was a wild child, but he was actually very kind. The ball went flying as if it were going to space. "That was high!" Kristy said in surprise and we went after the ball. We all had a great time.
Later we had supper and the food my aunt made was good. While Kristy was helping do the dishes, David and I ran outside to play. We started taking turns riding my bike. David suggested that we ride it to the forest. And I agreed. David and I got on the bike and David started riding fast.
As we rode through the forest, I felt the wind brushing my face. It felt so great and free. Suddenly the bike hit a fallen branch and we went flying off the bike. Lying on the ground, I felt dizzy(眩晕的). I checked myself for injuries and saw some but they didn't upset me.
"David!" I shouted out anxiously.
"Hey," said a voice. I turned my head and it was David, who was standing behind me, holding my broken bike. At the sight of my disabled bike, I was so sad that I couldn't hold back my tears. It took David some time to calm me down.

37.【答案】 When we realized it was time to walk home, we found ourselves lost. It was getting darker and darker. I felt so scared that tears rolled down my face again. David tried to comfort me. He told me that he once made some marks on the trees in the forest, which might help us find the way home. Therefore, we made efforts to look for the marks but failed. Having walked anxiously for about an hour in the forest, we didn't find our way out.
It was completely dark when we saw fireworks being set off in the distance. We ran excitedly in that direction as fast as possible. Soon we found my aunt's house, in front of which my cousin Kristy was holding some fireworks and lighting them. Seeing us back safe, Kristy cheerfully hugged us. She told us that when noticing we had been away for long, she was concerned about our safety. She set off fireworks to draw our attention and guide us. It was an unforgettable experience. Without David's comfort and Kristy's fireworks, I would have been lost in the forest forever.
