Meaningful subject line
Remember: your message is not the only one in your recipient’s mailbox. A clear subject line will help others to confirm that your email is worthwhile to read.
Subject: [Blank]
If you don’t put a subject line on your email, you are sending the message that your name in the “From” line is all your recipient should need in order to make it a top priority. That could come across as thoughtless. Take advantage of the opportunity to get your recipient to think about your message even before opening it.
Subject: “Important! Read immediately!”
What is important to you may not be important to your reader. Rather than brashly announcing that the secret contents of your message are important, write an informative headline that communicates the core of what you feel is so important: “Emergency: All the staff should be in the office room in 1 hour.”
Meaningful subject line
Remember: your message is not the only one in your recipient’s mailbox. A clear subject line will help others to confirm that your email is worthwhile.
From Alice Duncan
To Lucy Becker
Subject Butterfly Lovers
To Stephen Lin
From Harry Yu
Subject Country music
Meaningful subject line
The subject should associate closely with the content of the email.
When replying, remember to change the subject line rather than just let the mail program add “Re:” at the front.

I guarantee you’ll enjoy it!
Correct spelling & grammar
Proofread your email before you hit “send”.
Show a draft to someone trustworthy, in order to see whether it actually makes sense.
Specific target reader(s)
When you are writing to a friend or a close colleague, it is OK to use “similes”, abbreviations (“LOL” for “laughing out loud” etc.) and nonstandard punctuation and spelling.
Don’t use informal language when your reader expects a more formal approach.
Always know the situation, and write accordingly.
In groups, choose one piece of music to research on, write an email and introduce it to another person.
