instead of 代替(作为...的替代)；而不是
instead 与 instead of 其区别如下：
两者均可意为“代替；反而”，
instead副词，位于句首或句末, 作状语修饰整个句子。
instead of 介词短语，后必须接一个成分(名词、代词或 v.-ing)。位于句首或句中。
He didn’t reply. Instead, he left the room.
If you can’t go, he’ll go instead.
If you can’t go, he’ll go instead of you.
Jack went swimming yesterday instead of playing basketball.
2. It doesn’t seem very possible to move a mountain.
seem在此句中作连系动词，意为“似乎；好像”，后接形容词作表语，不能用于进行时。

seem +形容词 似乎……
seem (to be)+名词 好像/似乎是……
seem to do sth. 好像/似乎做某事
seem like sth. 看起来/似乎像某物
It seems/seemed + that从句 好像……

3. This story reminds us that you can never know what’s possible
1. remind sb.+that从句，意为“提醒某人…… ” 。
【拓展：remind 的其他常见用法如下】
remind sb. to do sth. 提醒某人做某事
remind sb. of sb./sth. 使某人想起某人/某物
The movie reminds me of my childhood.
My parents often remind me to study hard.
He reminds me that it is necessary to take some money with me.

4.He told Yu Gong that he could never do it because he was old
and weak.
weak形容词，在此句中意为“虚弱的；无力的”。其名词形式是weakness，意为“虚弱；弱点；懦弱”。其反义词是strong。
【拓展】
(1) weak作形容词时，还可意为“不擅长；（能力）弱的”。 be weak in意为“在某方面弱；不擅长”，反义词组是be good at/do well in。
(2) the weak意为“弱者”，相当于the weak people。在英语中“the+形容词”结构，可以表示“某一类人”。

There were many plants in a forest. When spring came, a pine tree saw a red rose nearby and said, “What a beautiful flower! I wish I were that lovely.”
　　The rose proudly said, “It seems that I am the most beautiful flower in this forest.” Then the rose looked at a cactus(仙人掌) and said, “Look at that ugly plant full of thorns(刺)!”
　　“What a proud flower!” thought the trees.
