Objective:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

Materials:
Whiteboard and markers
Handouts with the story and discussion questions
Pictures of mountains and shovels
Warm-up:
Show the students pictures of mountains and shovels.
Ask the students to discuss in pairs what they know about the Chinese story "An Old Man Tried to Move the Mountains."
Write some of their responses on the whiteboard.
Presentation:
Introduce the story of "An Old Man Tried to Move the Mountains" and its origin.
Ask the students to read the story silently and underline any unfamiliar words or phrases.
Go over the vocabulary words and phrases on the whiteboard and ask the students to explain their meanings.
Practice:
Divide the class into small groups of 3-4 students.
Distribute the discussion questions handout to each group.
Ask the students to discuss the questions in their groups and take notes on their answers.
After the discussion, ask each group to share their answers with the class.
Production:
Ask the students to work in pairs.
Distribute pictures of mountains and shovels to each pair.
Ask one student in each pair to be the old man and the other to be the narrator.
Instruct the students to role-play the story, using the pictures as props.
Walk around the classroom and provide feedback and assistance as needed.
Wrap-up:
Ask the students to share their thoughts on the theme of perseverance in the story.
Provide feedback and summarize the main points of the lesson.
Thank the students for their participation and encourage them to continue practicing their English skills.
Homework:
Write a paragraph about a time when you or someone you know persevered through a difficult situation.
Research and write a short summary about a famous person who demonstrated perseverance, such as Martin Luther King Jr. or Helen Keller.
Watch a video or read a news article about a current event that involves perseverance, and write a paragraph about how the individuals involved are showing perseverance.
