This passage is from B2 Unit 5 Understanding ideas, which mainly introduce Lauren Bath, a photographer, recording her travel experiences in Western Australia by using blog.
Her travel experiences not only have an influence on herself but also the readers of her blog.
This unit is mainly about human and society, arousing students' awareness of caring nature and environment.
The analysis of teaching material
Knowledge aim. 1) Ss can know more about travelling and master some useful words and expressions.
Ability aim. 2) Ss can improve their reading skills, such as predicting, skimming, scanning and so on.
Emotional aim.3) Ss can be more confident to share their opinions and foster their desire and interest on learning English.
Teaching aims:
Teaching important and difficult points:
Important point: How to effectively train Ss’ reading skills and make it be improved.
Difficult point: To improve Ss’ reading skills and enable Ss to share their opinions freely and communicate with each other.
The students are senior 1 students who have mastered some basic skills for reading, writing and speaking. But they are poor in communication. So I will try to create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere for them so that they can express their opinions freely in the class. After learning, the students are able to communicate and cooperate with others more confidently.

Teaching procedures Purpose
Step 1 Lead-in (Ask two questions and share experience) to arouse Ss interest on the topic of this passage.
Step 2 Pre-reading (Predicting) to make Ss be curious about the main idea of the passage.
Step 3 While-reading (Fast reading and careful reading) to train Ss' ability of skimming and scanning.
Step 4 Post-reading (retelling and discussion) to help Ss consolidate what they have learnt today and communicate with others.
Step 5 Summary and Homework (write a passage to share your travelling) to let Ss study on their own and use the words and expressions they have learnt.
