Topic: Food and preferences
Objectives:
Students will be able to identify and name different kinds of fruits.
Students will be able to express their food preferences.
Students will be able to use the sentence pattern "Do you like... " and "Yes, I do/No, I don't."
Materials:
Flashcards of different fruits
Pictures of different kinds of food
Worksheet for practicing food preferences
Procedure:
Step 1. Warm-up
Greet the students and ask them how they are feeling today.
Show the students some flashcards of fruits and ask them to name them.
Step 2. Presentation
T: Today we are going to learn about different kinds of fruits and how to express our food preferences.
Show the students some pictures of different kinds of food and ask them if they like them. For example, "Do you like pizza " "Do you like ice cream "
Teach the students how to say "Yes, I do" and "No, I don't" in response to the question "Do you like... "
Show the students some flashcards of fruits and teach them the names of the fruits.
Step 3. Practice
Divide the class into pairs.
Have the students ask each other if they like different kinds of fruits using the sentence pattern "Do you like... " and respond with "Yes, I do" or "No, I don't."
Give the students some pictures of different kinds of food and ask them to work in pairs to express their food preferences. For example, "I like pizza, but I don't like broccoli."
Step 4. Production
T: Now we are going to play a game. I will show you a flashcard of a fruit, and you have to say whether you like it or not.
Show the students a flashcard of a fruit and ask them to say whether they like it or not.
Have the students take turns showing a flashcard to their classmates and asking them if they like the fruit.
Step 5. Homework
Give the students a worksheet for practicing food preferences.
For homework, have the students interview their family members or friends about their food preferences and write a short paragraph about it.
Step 6. Assessment
The teacher will observe the students during the class to assess their ability to identify and name different kinds of fruits.
The teacher will also assess the students' ability to express their food preferences and use the sentence pattern "Do you like... " and "Yes, I do/No, I don't" in a simple conversation.
The teacher will evaluate the students' worksheet and homework to assess their ability to write simple sentences in English and express their food preferences.
