教材分析 本课是第三单元的阅读篇章,做出了对玩电脑游戏的不良后果的探讨。
学情分析 学生对本单元的主题Science and technology比较感兴趣,对于过度玩电脑游戏会带了很多的恶果也持肯定态度。此文章容易引起学生的讨论,反思和共鸣。
教学目标 通过学完这些内容之后,让学生达到以下三个目标:1). 知识目标①掌握单词: head teacher, effect, expert, speech, performance…等词。②学生能掌握表达建议的基本句型,stop 的用法,without doing的用法等。2). 能力目标①通过阅读文章,能够掌握其基本大意,并且能够大致翻译文章中的重点句型。②掌握演讲的基本步骤,会写演讲类的篇章。3). 情感、文化目标①了解电脑的相关知识,增强对新鲜事物的求知欲,同时不过度玩电脑游戏,有节制。②通过Peter’s Mother的信了解到父母对自己的关爱,理解他们的良苦用心,缓和和父母以及家人之间的关系。
教学重、难点 根据本课所学,能够复述文章中的重点句型,掌握演讲的步骤,会改写文章,并且敢于演讲。
教学步骤:

Step1:Performance (5mins) Ask Ss: What can you learn from the performance. Watch the performance and think about the question. Arouse Ss’s interests
Step2:Pre-reading (3mins) Ask Ss to Look at the pictures, the title and the sub-headings. Then answer the questions that the article probably talks about. Look and answer. Learn how touse pictures, topic and subtopic to guess the main idea of the passage
Step3:First reading (3mins) Ask Ss to Skim(略读) the article and answer the questions after the text.1 Who is attending the meeting 2 Why did the student become ill 3 What is the serious problem 4 Who will talk to the students tomorrow 5 What will they talk about Skim the passage, then answers. Use the strategy of skimming to get the main idea of the passage
Step4Blanks filling. (3mins) Ask Ss to read the script paragraph by paragraph and get the main idea of each one. Read the passage carefully.Summarize each paragraph. Get ready for the later part---speech.
Step5Blanks filling. (3mins) Ask Ss to read the letter written by Peter’s mother and encourage them to fill the blanks. ①Read the letter.②Try to make the letter complete. Further understanding of this passage.
Step6Challenge. (10mins) Set some challengeable exercise for Ss.Give them some open question and go on to let them talk about them. Choose the numbers and do the exercise.Further discussion.Conclude the sentence structures. Consolidate the structure of the sentences and pay attention to the important language points.
Step7:Speech time.(15mins) 1.Let Ss watch a video and do the spider gram: How does a good speaker should be.2.Prepare for the speech.3. Show time. 1.Watch the video.2.Review the main parts of a speech.Get ready for the speech. Get the skills of giving a speech.Practice writing and speaking skills.
Step8:Homework and summarize.(1mins) Assign homework :1.Finish the exercise on paper;2. Find out more information about speech. Write down the homework Consolidate the knowledge we have learned in this class.
