Dear Dr. Jackson,
My parents are never happy with me. They are always criticizing(批评)my clothes,my hair and the music I listen to. They hate my friends'looks and they keep complaining(抱怨)when I go with them. I'm not allowed to stay out as late as my friends do,so I can't have any fun. My parents only seem to care about my school marks. Though I love them, sometimes I feel we live in different worlds. If they love me,can't they understand me How can I make them understand me
Angel
Dear Angel,
Your problem is common to both teenagers and parents. Don't worry, because it is natural. You see, your parents have grown up at a different time and they have different experiences. So they think some things are strange, but you find the same things common. For example, the music you like may sound like noise to them.Your parents love you,so they think they must protect you from whatever they find strange. On the other hand, you don't want to be different from other teenagers,so you feel that your parents restrict you.
I think you should talk about this problem with your parents. Try to explain to them what you want and make them know they can believe you. Sooner or later, they will find you are a responsible(有责任心的)person and they will give you more freedom(自由).

It was summer just a few weeks before school started. One day I was bored at home. Then I saw a girl playing in front of her house. I ran out and said hello to her. We started talking and getting to know each other. We were so happy that day. In the later days we always played around the neighborhood. School started and we always sat next to each other on the bus. We became the best friends!
One year later,I had to go back to my country Saudi Arabia. But I didn't want to leave my best friend!I still remember the last night before my trip back to Saudi Arabia. We were so sad and cried very much.
After I was back to my country,we still e-mailed each other until I was in Grade 8. Then I suddenly lost contact(联系)with her. I was worried and kept hoping she could reply! But she never did. When I was in Grade 10,my family went to the US for a visit. I still hoped to see her again. I tried calling her but her phone number had changed. Finally I lost hope and wanted to give up. But one day I suddenly found her on the Internet. I couldn't believe my eyes. I cried for joy!And now we are still in contact and are the best friends!
The lesson I learned from this is to never give up and always have hope, because anything's possible!

You may have arguments with your friends. But do you know how to fix a friendship after an argument Here is some advice.
11 Getting other friends into your argument or asking them to decide will only turn your argument into something bigger. So you should keep it between the two of you.
12 Sometimes it's hard to know someone's feelings over the phone,so invite your friend to your house to talk things through. Talking in the bedroom where you usually play together will remind you both of the fun you have together.
13 Take it in turns to tell each other why you argued without interrupting(插嘴). It may be a misunderstanding. But if it isn't,at least you both get everything out.14 But don't leave it too long before speaking to your friend.
15 Remind yourself of all the fun you have together and forgive(原谅)your friend's bad points. You have some, too.
A. Meet face to face. B. Think of the best things of your friendship.
C. Listen to both sides of the story. D. Don't ask other people to join your argument.

Dear Mr. Hunt,My problem is that I can't get on with my family. Relations between my parents have become difficult. They fight a lot,and I really don't like it. It's the only communication they have. I don't know if I should say anything to them about this. When they argue,it's like a big, black cloud hanging over our home. Also,my elder brother is not very nice to me. He always refuses to let me watch my favorite TV show. Instead he watches he wants until late at night. I don't think this is fair. At home I always feel lonely and nervous. Is that normal What can I do
Sad and Thirteen

Why don't you talk about these feelings with your family If your parents are having problems, you should offer to help!Maybe you could do more jobs around the house so that they have more time for proper communication. Secondly, why don't you sit down and communication with your brother You should explain that you don't mind him watching TV all the time. However,he should let you watch your favorite show. I hope things will be better for you soon.Robert Hunt
