He must have been completely lost in something he was reading because I had to tap on the wind-shield(挡风玻璃)to catch his attention.
"Is your taxi available "I asked. He nodded, saying: "Sorry. I was reading a letter. "
"Letters from home always mean a lot. Is it from a child or maybe a grandchild " I said.

The next paragraph of the letter said: "I began the letter with "Old Friend' because that's what we've become over the years-old friends. And there aren't many of us left. "

In 1994 I wrote a letter. I stuck it in an envelope, put it away and completely forgot about it.
It wasn't until we moved into our new home in 2006 that I found it again. I decided to open it.This is what it said:
Dear Sherri,
By the time you read this you will be 30. At the age of 18 I have so many hopes and dreams about where you'll be now.
Right now / hope that you have traveled and seen everything you’re always wanted to. If everything goes according to plan you'll be living in Australia in a big house in a small town outside of a big city with a lot of land,a dog, your husband Guynn and too beautiful children. Hopefully you have a career in the medical field, maybe doing research in genetics(遗传学).Guynn will be a computer programmer who is from South Africa.
However,if thing don't go according to plan for you, I wish you all the love, happiness and joy in the world and don't settle for anything less than the best since that is absolutely what you deserve.
Live long, be happy and line life to its fullest.
Love Sherri,age 18
When I read this for the first time since writing it I was amazed. So much of what I wanted for myself has come true. I did travel, although I haven't seen everything I'd like to. I did marry the man of my dreams. I lived in Australia for nearly four years. I had a career in biology for about 10 years. 1have two lovely kids. I have not one dog but two dogs. If you are going to a boarding school(寄宿学校),what do you pack for your dorm(宿舍)?We've rounded up expert advice on how to figure out what you really need to buy.
1
Visit the school's website to find out what's provided and what's on the "don't bring" list.
Try to learn as much as you can about your dorm room. This will help you decide what you really want.
Another choice is to get on the Internet and get advice. Or you can call the school to be put in touch with someone. Students are an excellent source(资源)of information.
2
The experts have one main piece of advice: pack light.
Students don't need as much as they think they do. If you can, take only a few things and then allow at least a week to get a better idea of what you will really use.
You can separate your belongings into three piles: the "must-haves","things-you'd-like-to-have"and"hings - you'Il -take -if- there's -space".
Pack all the "must-haves". Then box up the "like-to-haves"so Mom and Dad can send them later,if needed. Don't even think about taking the "maybes".
3
If you do need something,it's easy to zip(压缩)out to buy it-or buy it online and have it shipped(托运).
Many students wait until they arrive on campus to buy bedding so they can coordinate with their roommates. Also, remember that you are most likely going to make a trip home in the near future. That means you can pack seasonally.
4
You can always buy things later or have parents send them.
Before you start buying, check with the school. It should have a list of suggested items(物品)as well as a list of prohibited(禁止的)ones.
A. Things to know about packing B. Remember:less is more
C. Gather info about the school and dorm D. Buy it later
( )5. Which of the following about packing is the expert advice
A. Pack as many like-to-haves as you can. B. Buy everything after arriving at school.
C. Pack light and take only the must-haves. D. Ask your parents to send the things you need.
