A few days ago I took an important test for my history class. That night, my teacher sent me an e-mail. She thought that some students cheated, including me.
I began to freak out (HISE). The next day I could hardly concentrate in my classes. Finally, my teacher took me and the other accused (被控告的)students aside, and explained to us how she “knew”we had cheated. She had lost her answer sheet that had two wrong answers on it, she said. And each of our tests had the same two mistakes. Therefore, one of us must have stolen the answer sheet and shared it with the others to cheat. She said we had only two choices: confess (H/I) to the cheating, or get a zero on the test.
Of course, I hadn't cheated, so I wasn't going to confess. But I can't afford to get a zero, either.
The next day, things got even stranger. One of my classmates told me she heard the whole test situation was a hoax. I asked a teacher and she said it was true.
She said the hoax was to let us know something we'd been learning about in history. That week we were studying the Salem witch trials (塞勒姆女巫审判案). It was a period when many innocent Americans were thought to be witches, and forced to confess to crimes(罪名) they didn't do. She said my history teacher wanted us to learn what that felt like.
I didn't know how to feel at that moment. I didn't know whether to feel relieved, angry, confused or betrayed (背叛的). Were my teacher's actions acceptable because she wanted us to learn how accused“witches” felt in early American history Should I be as upset as I am, or am I overreacting(反应过度)?

A. He had cheated so that he confessed to the cheating.
B. He had cheated but he didn't confess to the cheating.
C. He didn't confess to the cheating so that he got a zero on the test.
D. He didn't confess to the cheating or get a zero on the test.
( )8. What's the aim of the history teacher
A. To make the students feel an event in history. B. To see who was honest.
C. To know who was good at history. D. To show that cheating was bad.

"What is success " Mr. Gruber asked his 6th grade business class. It was his opening conversation for the first class of the term.
“Success is riding in a sweet car, watching an 80-inch TV, and living in a place with at least 12 rooms." One student answered, earning laughs from all the students.
Mr. Gruber smiled, but shook his head."Tom, that is excess (过量). That is not success.”
“How about being able to provide for your family " A blonde girl named Sandy in the front suggested as an answer.
"Now we're getting closer," Mr. Gruber smiled,"but try thinking about what you need and what you want."
"Getting everything you want." Tom shouted out an answer again, trying for more laughs.
Mr. Gruber sighed. "I believe we've already talked about excess versus(与...比较) success."
"Getting everything you need, but some of what you want " James, sitting in the back wondered aloud.
"Quite right!" Mr. Gruber clapped."Success is getting everything you need and some of what you want. The more you get what you want, the more successful you are. You do reach a point where you are living in excess, though."
"What does this have to do with business " Tom asked. It seemed if it wasn't funny, he wasn't happy.
"Well, Tom, think of it this way: the point of business is to make a living to support your family.
Once you have properly seen to (Bi (K) their needs, you can then see to getting the extras that you want."
"What if I don't have a family " he continued to be difficult.

"Then he needs to provide for a family of one with a fishbowl," Mr. Gruber corrected himself.
Tom nodded, satisfied with that answer.

It's almost that time of the year again. Train stations and airports are crowded, babies are crying, and passengers are arguing.
The same story also happens during rush hour in big cities every day. When there is a crowd, people lose their tempers easily.
What makes polite travelers suddenly forget their manners
One of the causes is a crowded cabin(4 /), according to an article in The New York Times.
"When you crowd people together, there is a point at which they are no longer able to work properly,Leon James, a psychology (心理学)professor at the University of Hawai, told the newspaper. In a crowd, people feel distant (疏远的) to others and think badly of them.
And it's not just others that people feel distant from.
"You feel a distance from your sense of self," Emma Seppala, a researcher from the Stanford University School of Medicine, told The New York Times. In other words, you're no longer yourself.
Tiredness and a lack of sleep, which is as much a part of travel as luggage(行李),also makes travelers lose their self-control.
Think about all those traffic jams on your way to a train station, the heavy suitcases (行李箱)you pull along, the long line waiting to enter the station, and the busy phone calls from family, friends, and sometimes colleagues (同事). When travelers finally get on the train, their patience has already run out.
Besides, a lack of sleep gives you a temper you probably know this firsthand. If we are forced to get up early in the morning, many of us act much more emotionally (冲动地).
So, how can we make the world a better place when we're traveling with a big crowd
Try to improve the atmosphere, suggest James of the University of Hawaii.
For example, if it's a flight, attendants(空乘人员)could stand in front of the cabin saying things like,"How many of you are going home " or"Raise your hand if you've never been on an airplane before.”
Everyone can help, too.
How about giving the person next to you a smile, giving up your seat to a needy (有需要的) person, or politely saying, "It's OK" if someone steps on your foot

A. Problems people might have when traveling. B. Tips to help get rid of tiredness after traveling.
C. How people should behave when traveling during rush hour.
D. Why people behave badly when traveling and how to deal with it.
( )19. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a reason for the bad manners of travelers
A. Crowdedness. B. Tiredness. C. A lack of sleep. D. Traveling over a long distance.
( )20. What are people advised to do when they are traveling with a big crowd
A. Keep smiling at others. B. Relax and be friendly to others.

为下列关于音乐的描述找到匹配的音乐种类,将其编号(A、B、C、和D)填人相应位置并回答第5小题
1. Pop: .
2. Hip-hop: .
3. Country: .
4. Indie: .
5. What's your favorite type of music Why do you love it best
A. It is a genre (流派) of music that started in African-American communities in the 1970s, but it didn't become widely popular in the US until the 1990s. Nowadays, its most songs contain the following parts: electronic drum machines or drum samples for percussion (打击乐); jazz, soul or R&B samples for bass(低音)and melody(旋律);and rhythmic speech for vocals(歌唱).
B. It can include elements from lots of genres of music, such as jazz, R&B and rock. What defines a song as it is a simple structure and a tune that is easy to listen to and very catchy. Most songs are between 2 and 5 minutes in length and consist of a series of verses (主歌) with a repeated chorus (副歌). The vocals(歌唱部分)are almost always the most important element of any of its song, and the rest of the instruments are usually familiar ones like the piano or guitar. There is a strong focus on lyrics.
C. It is usually pretty different to the mainstream (主流的) music you'll hear on the radio. Its artists are often more concerned about producing really good music rather than hits that they know will make them lots of money. Some music is quite unusual. But other artists produce songs that lots of people like, such as Somebody That I Used to Know. The Internet has been a blessing(恩赐)for its artists,as it has given them a platform (平台) to spread their music to lots of people cheaply and quickly. This is another reason why the artists don't need to sign a mainstream record deal. As an artist is simply anyone who creates music independently, these songs belong to many different genres of music.
D. To understand it, you should understand where it came from: poor, rural communities in the United States. By the 1940s and 1950s, these communities had begun playing "hillbilly (乡巴佬) music", energetic party songs, based around fiddles (what rural Americans call violins) and banjos(班卓琴);and"Western music", emotional or sad songs about love and heartbreak, based around guitars and harmonicas(口琴). These two sounds later merged(融合)and picked up features of pop and rock, leading to the modern music that Americans now know and love. Miranda Lambert's Over You is a good example of this modern style.
