根据Be My Eyes部分“This app connects blind people in need of help with sighted people with spare time to offer through video calls. The help needed may be something like identifying a can of food or finding a missing object in the home. (这个应用程序将需要帮助的盲人和有空通过视频通话提供帮助的视力正常的人联系起来。所需的帮助可能是识别一罐食物或在家中找到丢失的物品。)”可知,Be My Eyes可以帮助盲人,使盲人能够方便地得到帮助。故选D。
22.细节理解题。根据OLIO部分“This is a neighbor-to-neighbor sharing app for unwanted but eatable food and some non-food items. (这是一个邻里间分享的应用程序,用于不需要但可食用的食物和一些非食物物品。)”及Too Good To Go部分“Too Good To Go is a popular American app for people who care about the environment. According to the app, 40 percent of eatable food is thrown away each year in the US alone. Users look through the pages of nearby bakeries, cafes and restaurants that have delicious food on special offer that would otherwise binned. (Too Good To Go是一款流行的美国应用程序,适合关心环境的人。根据该应用程序,仅在美国,每年就有40%的可食用食物被扔掉。用户浏览附近面包店、咖啡馆和餐馆的页面,这些面包店、咖啡馆和餐馆提供特价食品,否则会被扔掉。)”可知,OLIO和Too Good To Go是为了避免食物浪费而设计的应用程序。
根据Zooniverse部分“Want to help with advanced global research Zooniverse is an app with millions of registered volunteers that lets you become a citizen researcher. Help professional scientific and humanities researchers via your mobile device or the website. Global volunteers taking part in this exciting project typically don’t have a scientific background but their contribution is highly valued

根据第一段“It is often difficult for farmers to recognize diseases quickly enough to protect their crops.”(农民通常很难快速识别疾病以保护他们的作物。)
根据第三段“The device takes out DNA from plants and helps farmers recognize what is harming their crops so that they can change to the improved crops.”(该装置从植物中提取DNA,帮助农民识别出危害作物的因素,以便他们改种改良作物。)
根据第四段“And that’s possible because of amazing technology, which can give farmers results real-time.”(这是可能的,因为惊人的技术,可以给农民实时结果。)可知,划线词所在句子意思是:“Once the viruses were recognized, Asha Mohamed was given two kinds of seeds that are resistant to the diseases.”( 一旦病毒被识别出来,阿莎·穆罕默德就得到了两种对疾病有抵抗力的种子。)

根据第一段中“Before you start to work in your garden, it’s necessary to have a vision for it. Thinking of what you want to grow in your garden and how to lay it out is a good first step in making your vision a fruitful reality. In life, you should consider what you want to create and what you want to achieve (在你开始在你的花园工作之前,有必要对它有一个愿景。想想你想在你的花园里种什么,以及如何布置它是使你的愿景成为富有成效的现实的良好的第一步。在生活中,你应该考虑你想要创造什么,你想要实现什么)”可知,作者认为在翻地整理园子之前,有个好的规划很重要。故选B项。
29.推理判断题。根据第二段中“This is why gardeners take the time and energy to upgrade the soil before planting. So, creating the right soil is important to the realization of your goals and dreams. Fortunately, there are countless ways to make your personal bedrock better. Getting an education is one of the most effective ways, which can help you enrich your life’s soil. (这就是为什么园丁在种植前要花时间和精力来升级土壤。因此,创造合适的土壤对实现你的目标和梦想很重要。幸运的是,有无数的方法可以让你的个人基础变得更好。接受教育是最有效的方式之一,它可以帮助你丰富你的生活的土壤)”可知,作者把提高土壤条件比喻为接受教育。故选A项。
根据第三段中“It’s a very clear act that produces an expected result. Each of us has the power to decide which “life seeds” to plant. For example, if you plant ill seeds, it's likely that you’ll experience pain in return. Contrarily, if you plant seeds of kindness and understanding, your life will bloom with happiness and love. (这是一种非常明显的行为,能够产生预期的结果。我们每个人都有能力决定种下哪种“生命种子”。例如,如果你播下了不良的种子,你很可能会经历痛苦作为回报。相反,如果你播下善良和理解的种子,你的生活就会充满幸福和爱)”可知,作者在这一段告诉读者我们的生活质量取决于我们的积极付出。故选A项。
通读全文,根据第一段中““Your mind is a garden; your thoughts are the seeds. The harvest can either be flowers or weeds,” William Wordsworth wrote. In the above quote, William suggests that the process of gardening mirrors human life. Depending on what we “plant” in our lives,we bloom(生长茂盛)or don’t.

根据第二段内容尤其是第一句“The fire personnel had taken the standard measures of clearing brush and setting controlled fires long before the fire began heading toward the Giant Forest.”
根据第二段第五句中的“The park officials believed the specialized foil (锡纸) would help block some of the heat from the flames”可知,这种特殊的锡纸可以阻挡火焰的部分热量。故选A。
根据第三段内容尤其是第一句中的“which also included 24-hour timed sprinklers (洒水装置) on General Sherman and the nearby park buildings, had worked”以及最后一句“That area is looking good.”
根据最后一段内容尤其是第一句“Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the rest of the national park.”和最后一句中的“which are now beginning to threaten nearby communities”可知,国家公园的其他地方并不像the Giant Forest那样被保护得这么好。 故选A。

36.上文“If we want to grow as people, we can’t just rely on our own evaluation of how we’re doing.(如果我们想要成长,我们不能只依赖于自己对自己做得如何的评价)”也就是说,我们也要注意别人的评价。下文“Receiving feedback from peers can help us see the bigger picture and show us a path forward to success.(接受同事的反馈可以帮助我们看到更大的图景,并为我们指明通往成功的道路)”可知,空格处应该是指接受别人的评价。C项“We also need to know what other people think about our performance.(我们还需要知道其他人对我们表现的看法)”,承上启下,符合题意。故选C项。
37.根据前文“First, if you spot a situation in which some feedback would be helpful, give it as soon as you can. If you wait until the matter fades from the person’s mind, they might not understand what you’re trying to tell them.(首先,如果你发现某个情况下一些反馈是有帮助的,请尽快给出。如果你等到这件事从人们的脑海中消失,他们可能不明白你想告诉他们什么)”可知,本段主要讲述反馈要及时的问题,所以B项“Feedback should be clear and well timed, or it’s likely to be ignored.(反馈必须清晰且及时,否则很可能会被忽视)”符合本段主题。故选B项。
38.根据前文“When you’re giving feedback, it’s important to keep in mind that no one likes to be told they’re doing a bad job.(当你给出反馈时,重要的是要记住,没有人喜欢被告知他们做得不好)”可知,本段主题是不能只是一味地给负面反馈,所以G项“Make sure you give an equal amount of positive feedback to balance out anything negative.(确保你给出了等量的积极反馈来抵消任何负面的反馈)”是对前句的进一步说明,符合题意。故选G项。
39.根据前文“Feedback should also look toward the future.(反馈也应该面向未来)”以及后文“Tell your friend they should take more notes in class instead of talking about how they should have studied harder for the big biology exam they failed.(告诉你的朋友,他们应该在课堂上多做笔记,而不是谈论他们应该如何为失败的生物大考努力学习)”可知,空处应该是对前句进一步补充说明,之后举例子说明,所以E项“You can’t change what’s happened, but you can prevent it from happening again.(你不能改变已经发生的事,但你可以防止它再次发生)”符合文意。故选E项。
40.分析设空,空处位于段首,是本段主题句,根据后文“If someone said that you were boring in your speech, would you know how to fix it Being told you should add a funny story at the end is a lot easier to put into practice.(如果有人说你的演讲很无聊,你知道如何纠正吗 被告知你应该在结尾加上一个有趣的故事,更容易付诸实践)”可知,本段主要讲述了应该针对他人的行为给出具体的反馈,所以F项“To make your feedback more useful, it should focus on the action, not the person.(为了让你的反馈更有用,它应该关注行动,而不是人)”符合题意。故选F项。

Para 1:
Suddenly he had an idea. He fumbled in his drawers and fortunately found a piece of delicate and fragrant paper. He sat down straight on his chair, and began to write a letter in his best handwriting as a Mother's Day present. “Dear mom, I'm writing this to tell you that you are the best mother in the world…” With a sincere heart, Eric finished the letter and sealed it in an envelope, his lips curving into a smile.
Para 2:
The next morning Eric handed his letter to his mom. Finishing reading the letter, his mom swept him into her arms with her eyes wet as if she wanted to squeeze the breath out of him. “Thank you, my dear!” She sniffed, hugging Eric more tightly. Leaning against his mother’s shoulder, Eric slowly explained why he chose to write a letter as a gift. After hearing the reason, his mom gently touched his head, saying, “To me, your letter is better than a thousand shopping sprees.” Hugging each other, they felt blissful as if they were in possession of everything. Indeed, love should be made known to loved ones.

It is often difficult for farmers to recognize diseases quickly enough to protect their crops. Now, some farmers are using a simple device (装置) directly in the field to find viruses (病毒) before they spread.
In Tanzania, farmers struggle to recognize diseases in an urgent effort to avoid great crop damage. This
process is often not easy when farmers are acting on their own. If they do not know what is attacking their crops, they cannot decide the best way to fight the disease.
A device from British technology company Oxford Nanopore is changing that. The device takes out
DNA from plants and helps farmers recognize what is harming their crops so that they can change to the
improved crops.
Laura Boykin worked with the University of Western Australia and brought the device to a Tanzanian farm-owned by Asha Mohamed. The testing recognized a number of viruses in the cassava fields near Mohamed’s farm. “So what would have normally taken six months has just happend in a couple of hours. And that’s possible because of amazing technology, which can give farmers results real-time.” Once the viruses were recognized, Asha Mohamed was given two kinds of seeds that are resistant to the diseases.
In another case, DNA was collected from a pawpaw tree farm in Kenya. With that test, the technology
was able to recognize the diseases affecting Naomi Mumo’s crops. Laura Boykin says she returned to Mohamed’s farm nine months later. “After nine months of her growing the improved crops, we harvested her plants and she saw large rise in the total amount of crops.
The speed at which farmers recognize diseases can mean the difference between the successor failure on
large areas of crop land. Now, the use of such simple and easily transportable DNA sequencing (测序) devices is making that possible.
24.According to Paragraph 1, what problem are some farmers faced with
A.They always suffer a poor harvest.
B.They fail to find helpful doctors.
C.They know little about modern faring technology.
D.They have difficulty in recognizing crop diseases quickly.
25.What do we know about the device from Oxford Nanopore
A.It was developed by scientists from Australia.
B.It helps prevent the spread of crop diseases.
C.It recognizes crop diseases by testing DNA.
D.It should be used with the help of researchers.
26.Which of the following words has a similar meaning with “resistant” in paragraph 4
A.harmful B.recognizable C.unaffected D.Appointed
27.What could be the best title for the text
A.DNA technology wins great popularity among farmers.
B.DNA technology helps farmers recognize crop diseases.
C.The economic development in Tanzania.
D.The benefits of modern farming.

human life. Depending on what we “plant” in our lives, we bloom (生长茂盛) or don’t. Before you start to
work in your garden, it’s necessary to have a vision for it. Thinking of what you want to grow in your garden and how to lay it out is a good first step in making your vision a fruitful reality. In life, you should consider what you want to create and what you want to achieve, because your mind-garden is like the white paper and the possibilities are endless.
Regardless of what you choose to plant, poor soil isn’t suitable for growth. This is why gardeners take
the time and energy to upgrade the soil before planting. So, creating the right soil is important to the realization of your goals and dreams. Fortunately, there are countless ways to make your personal bedrock better. Getting an education is one of the most effective ways, which can help you enrich your life’s soil.
You don’t have to be an enthusiastic gardener to understand the meaning of “You harvest what you sow.”
When a gardener wants tomatoes, they just need to plant tomato seeds. It’s a very clear act that produces an expected result. Each of us has the power to decide which “life seeds“ to plant. For example, if you plant ill seeds, it’s likely that you’ll experience pain in return. Contrarily, if you plant seeds of kindness and understanding, your life will bloom with happiness and love.
A gardener’s truly hard work begins after the seeds are in the ground because a garden requires a lot of
care and attention. Regular watering and weeding are required for a healthy garden. So, to ensure your dreams take root, you should be devoted, aware, and present. After countless hours and energy spent, the crops have grown well and are finally ready to be harvested.

The Sequoia National Park in California’s southern Sierra Nevada mountains is best known for the Giant Forest, a collection of 2,000 trees that includes half of the Earth’s largest and longest-living trees. This past weekend, the ancient wonders came dangerously close to being burned by the KNP Complex Fire. But thanks to resourceful firefighters, the precious treasure has been saved.
The fire personnel had taken the standard measures of clearing brush and setting controlled fires long
before the fire began heading toward the Giant Forest. But they knew more needed to be done. On September 17, 2021, they took the unusual step of covering the base of some of the oldest trees with protective aluminum “blankets”. High on the list was General Sherman, the world’s largest tree by volume. The park officials believed the specialized foil (锡纸) would help block some of the heat from the flames
and enhance the natural insulation (隔热) provided by the ancient trees’ thick bark. They were right!
On Sunday, September 19, 2021, the officials reported that the extra prevention measures, which also included 24-hour timed sprinklers (洒水装置) on General Sherman and the nearby park buildings, had
worked. Jack Owen, a spokesman for the KNP Complex Fire Information Office, said, “There are no trees
that have been burned yet, as far as in the Giant Forest. Fire crews are pouring everything they can into it as long as it’s safe. That area is looking good.”
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the rest of the national park. The KNP Complex Fire has
burned through 21,777 acres. Meanwhile, the Windy Fire, which started further south on the Sierra slopes on
the same night, has burned over 21,598 acres. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and allow firefighters to
gain control of the massive fires, which are now beginning to threaten nearby communities.
What did the firefighters first do to protect the Giant Forest from fire
A. Cover it with specialized foil. B. Put it on the list of protective steps.
C. Set up a fire prevention belt around it. D. Identify the features of the complex fire.
Why was the specialized foil applied
A. To resist some heat from the fire. B. To stop the fire from spreading.
C. To keep tree roots from losing water. D. To test the survival ability of the trees.
What can we infer from paragraph 3
Fire crews are ready to withdraw.
General Sherman is relatively safe.
Nearby buildings have been abandoned.
Some trees in the Giant Forest have been cut down.
What is the author’s attitude towards the safety of the rest of the national park
A. Worried. B. Optimistic. C. Discouraged. D. Unconcerned.

How to Give Feedback that People Will Listen to
If we want to grow as people, we can’t just rely on our own evaluation of how we’re doing. ____36____ Receiving feedback from peers can help us see the bigger picture and show us a path forward to success. However, someone has to give that feedback, and sometimes, that someone will be you. How should you approach this
First, if you spot a situation in which some feedback would be helpful, give it as soon as you can. If you
wait until the matter fades from the person’s mind, they might not understand what you’re trying to tell them. ____37____
When you’re giving feedback, it’s important to keep in mind that no one likes to be told they’re doing a
bad job. ____38____ Like the saying goes, “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”
All good feedback shares a few key elements. First, it should help accomplish a specific goal. It’s less useful to tell your friend that their dish tastes “interesting” than it is to suggest adding a little salt to improve
the flavor. Feedback should also look toward the future. ____39____ Tell your friend they should take more
notes in class instead of talking about how they should have studied harder for the big biology exam they failed.
____40____ If someone said that you were boring in your speech, would you know how to fix it Being
told you should add a funny story at the end is a lot easier to put into practice.
Finally, don’t assume your suggestion is the only correct way to deal with a situation. Consider other points of view and keep your ego (自我) under control. You might even end up with some feedback on your
feedback. Don’t take it personally—it can only help you give better advice next time!
A.It is also important to let others know their mistakes.
B.Feedback should be clear and well timed, or it’s likely to be ignored.
C.We also need to know what other people think about our performance.
D.This can help you be successful in your role and clear the way for future.
E.You can’t change what’s happened, but you can prevent it from happening again.
F.To make your feedback more useful, it should focus on the action, not the person.
G.Make sure you give an equal amount of positive feedback to balance out anything negative.

Eric threw himself on the sofa, sighing. Mother's Day was approaching, but he didn't have a present. “How can I buy a present without any money ” he thought.
Eric picked up the newspaper that was lying on the couch. He noticed a large advertisement on the front
page. The local department store was sponsoring(赞助) a contest(竞赛). “Tell us why your mom is special and win a shopping spree(购物狂欢) for her,” said the advertisement.
“This is perfect!” thought Eric. He ran to his room with the newspaper. Taking a pencil and a blank
piece of paper from his desk, he started to write.
“My mom is the best mother in the world. She always makes lunch for me to take to school, and she never forgets my dessert. She reads as many books to me before bed as I want. She always remembers to check under the bed for monsters. And she gives me the best hug, but never in front of my friends, who would laugh at me for hugging my mom.”
Eric liked what he had written. He copied it neatly and got an envelope and a stamp from his bed. He
ran to the mailbox with his entry. “Mom will love having a shopping spree,” he thought.
Eric checked the mailbox every day for his prize. Days went by, and then weeks. Soon it was the day before Mother's Day. Eric still hadn't heard anything about the contest.
“What am I going to do now ” he wondered. He didn't have a present, and he didn't have a shopping
spree. And he still didn't have money.
He had to think of something. Eric closed his eyes and curled his toes and thought hard.
