4B Unit 5 Seasons说课稿
My teaching content is the first period of Unit5 Seasons, from book 4B.The topic of this unit is “seasons”. After learning this unit, students should be able to talk about the activities in each season.
As the first period of this unit, it is the main carrier of the teaching focus and new knowledge, so it’s quite important to raise Ss’ interest and get them involved in class. As for my target learners, they are grade four students who are curious about learning English and be willing to take part in learning activities.
Here come my teaching aims. Considering the National Standard of Curriculum, the content of the lesson and the level of the students, students should achieve the following aims:
First, the aim of language competence:
1.Ss can master the new words: spring summer autumn winter hot warm cool cold
2.Ss can master the sentence patterns: We like spring/summer/autumn/winter. In …, it is warm/hot/cool/cold. We…
Second, the aim of Culture awareness:
Students can feel the beauty of the four seasons in the way of learning the story time and reading English picture book
Third, the aim of learning ability:
Ss can read the story fluently and beautifully. Ss can talk about the activities in each season and describe each season. Students can develop their interest for English.
Fourth, the aim of thinking quality: Students’ logical thinking ability can be improved by tasks like matching the pictures with the seasons
My teaching focus of this lesson is:
Students can read and act the story with emotion. Students can introduce the seasons and the activities in each season.
My teaching difficulty is Students can talk about the seasons as much as they can and adapt the story.
To break through my teaching focus and difficulties, I’d prefer to adopt the task-based language teaching method and the Communicative approach.
As for my teaching aids, the multimedia computer, the blackboard and some pictures will be used to make my class more vivid.
Then, I'll talk about the teaching procedures, including five steps.
Step 1. Lead-in
Firstly, Ss need to divide the activities into “I do” or “I don’t”. This part aims at bringing back their background knowledge and helping lead out today’s topic.
Step 2. Presentation
Then, I’ll show four beautiful pictures of the four seasons and teach the four new words
After learning the four seasons, I’ll let Ss observe some vivid pictures and ask them “What do you see ” Ss may have different answers, through this task, Ss can develop their observation skill.
After Ss’ brainstorming, I’ll guide them focus on what they wear. Ss can clearly notice the change of wearing in different seasons.
Then the four adjectives can be taught and be matched with the four seasons by the students.
Next, I’ll let the Ss think “ What fun do they have in each season ”. Ss can talk about the activities they know, and we’ll go on to the story time and have a deep learning.
Step3 Practice
To ensure Ss mater the story, I set four tasks this class.
(1) Read and find
T: Read and find what fun do they have in spring
(2) Read and imitate
Ss try to imitate the recording and read the first paragraph correctly and fluently.
(3) Group work
Ss read the rest three seasons in groups following different guides, then I’ll lead them check together
(4)Read with the music
To raise Ss’ interest of reading, I let Ss to read with a beautiful song as the background. Ss can do their best to read the story slowly but beautifully.
Step4 Consolidation.
To consolidate what they learn in this class, I prepare a picture book for them. Ss can choose the season they like to read and feel it. For example, Students choose the season “Summer” will read these two pictures.
After Ss reading their own part, I’ll get them all involved and guide them to read the content together.
Step5 Summary & Homework
To sum up today’s lesson, I’ll make them think of the colour of autumn in Suzhou. And make Ss realize we can “Find beauties in different seasons. And Enjoy our colorful life.”
My homework design is:
1. Read and recite Story Time with emotions.
2. Think of the colour of the other three seasons in Suzhou
3. Read more picture books about seasons.
