I was bullied (欺 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )负) terribly as a child. It all started when I was in the fifth grade. It started when a new family moved into our neighborhood. Before being bullied, I was liked and had many friends. Looking back on it now, I honestly cannot even point out why I was bullied by the newcomer. I was hit, kicked, called names, threatened, and was told I should kill myself. This was over 15 years ago. In those days, there were no support groups or hotlines one could attend or call. My parents did the best to “work” with educators at school. The educators also felt how serious my being harassed (骚扰) was.21·cn·jy·com
Unfortunately over th ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )e past 15 years, bullying has become more common and more serious. We read stories in the newspaper or hear on the news that children are taking their own lives because of bullying. I was almost one of those children at the age of 16. I, however, was lucky. I asked for help from my teachers. I personally understand the feeling of hopelessness these children face, and my heart breaks for them and for their parents. No one deserves to feel worthless, lonely, or physically threatened. 21*cnjy*com
Did you know that O ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ctober is National Bullying Prevention Month According to the National Bullying Prevention Center website, more than 160,000 students stay home from school every day because they are scared of being bullied. It is also reported that bullying affects how well a child can learn. These students have a hard time concentrating, their grades slip, and they lose the sense of self-worth and self-confidence. Sometimes the children’s pain isn’t known. 【出处:21教育名师】

It’s no secret that ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )dolphins are smart animals. But as we learn more about them, we’re finding out more and more about how smart they really are—how much they’re like us.
Researchers at the ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )University of Saint Andrews in Scotland revealed that dolphins clearly have names—not names like “Flipper” given to them by humans, but names they give to themselves! And not only that—they respond when they hear other dolphins calling them by their names.
Scientists call those ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )names “signature whistles”. According to a report by National Geographic News, when a bottlenose dolphin hears another bottlenose dolphin call its signature whistle, it responds by repeating that signature whistle back—kind of like saying, “Yep, I’m here. Did you call my name ” as dolphin expert Whitney Friedman put it.
“This is the fi ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )rst time we find naming in the animal kingdom,” said Stephanie King, the leader of the Saint Andrews study. King and her group reached that conclusion after spending several months studying wild dolphins off Scotland’s east coast. “It’s now clear that signature whistles have meaning in that they are labels (标签) for every dolphin,” she said.
According to the ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )Los Angeles Times, the experts do know that many male dolphin babies have signature whistles similar to the signature whistles of their mothers. So maybe similar names run in the same family—just like a guy named Joe might name his kid “Joe Junior”.
There’s a lot ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )still left to learn about dolphin communication. For example, King and the other experts are still trying to determine whether the noises dolphins make are actually a language. And it’s not clear yet whether dolphins use signature whistles to talk about other dolphins that aren’t around—sort of an aquatic version of gossip. But the scientists appear to be on the way to finding out.
56.
By saying “how mu ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ch they’re like us”, the author wants to tell us that dolphins .
A. are very clever B. are attractive to us
C. follow our example D. have many secrets
57. According to Stephanie King, dolphins .
A. like calling out signature whistles
B. have different names of their own
C. can respond to any special whistles
D. are getting along well with each other
58.
