B2U2 Wildlife Protection——Listening and Speaking
教学目标
After this lesson, students will be able to
Predict the content of the listening text based on the context and the pictures and understand basic information of the text;
Take notes when listening based on the key words of the questions and get detailed information;
Express their own opinions about wildlife problems and wildlife protection;
Understand the importance of wildlife protection and its relation to us humans.
二、学情分析
The students are from Class 2 Grade 10, who are equipped with basic vocabulary but not quite good at expressing their own ideas in English. However, they are usually active in class and willing to share their opinions.
三、设计思路
The topic of unit2 in Book2 is wildlife protection. As a listening and speaking class, this lesson is designed to train student’ listening skills such as prediction and taking notes and improve students’ oral expression about wildlife protection. It is divided into 3 parts, which are pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening. In the pre-listening part, the topic is introduced through game and “Q and A” session. In the second part, students are required to obtain the key information of the listening text under the guidance of the teacher. In the third part, through role-play games, students can express their ideas vividly based on the information talked and taught in the previous parts. At the same time, by listening to the extra listening material from VOA, the students can better understand the importance of wildlife protection.
四、教学过程
Activity 1:Guessing game
Guess what animal it is based the descriptions and lead to the topic.
【设计意图】通过图片和简单有趣的游戏快速引出本堂课的主题——野生动物保护。
Activity 2: Talking about the reasons of the wildlife crisis
Talk about the reasons why wildlife is in danger of dying out.
【设计意图】通过小组讨论及英文海报,鼓励学生积极用英语表达野生动物危机背后的原因,激活与话题相关的知识,并且为后续表达要用到的词汇进行铺垫。
Activity 3: Predicting and listening
Predict the content of the first part of the text before listening and listen to check the answers.
【设计意图】培养学生听前预测习惯及根据上下文推断听力内容的技巧,以及理解文本基础信息的能力。
Activity 4: Listening to the second part and answer the questions
Read the questions and find out the key words of each question and try to take notes based on the key information to get the right answer.
【设计意图】培养学生抓问题关键词并且记笔记的听力技巧,以及获取关键细节的能力。
Activity 5: Sharing opinions about wildlife protection
Come up with some solutions to wildlife protection and share with other students by using certain sentence patterns.
【设计意图】回顾表达想法和建议的相关句式,并且锻炼学生用相关句式表达意见和建议的口语能力。此外,也为后面角色扮演这个活动搭建好台阶。
Activity 6: Role-Play
Work in groups and play the roles of wildlife faced with trouble and people willing to offer help. Make up a conversation between wildlife and humans and perform it out by using vivid facial expressions and body languages.
【设计意图】通过场景搭建,让学生能够更好地在语境中表达求助和提供帮助。此外,通过生动的表演,学生能够更好共情,体会到保护野生动物的重要性。
Activity 7: Listening to the material about COCID-19 and filling in the blanks
Listen to the extra material taken from VOA and fill in the blanks to better understand why wildlife protection is closely related to us human beings.
【设计意图】通过补充听力材料,和时事结合,一方面进一步训练学生获取关键信息的能力,一方面让学生更切身体会到野生动物保护和我们人类的幸福安康息息相关。
Assignment:
Make a poster to promote people's awareness of wildlife protection.
【设计意图】通过海报设计将我们保护野生动物的想法落到实处,并且能将课堂所学应用其中。
