Chinese paper cutting is an art of cutting out pictures from paper with the help of a pair of scissors or a knife. In 2009, the Chinese paper cutting was added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Paper cutting originated(起源)in China, which has been around for over 1,500 years. But long before that, when paper wasn’t invented, Chinese people already used similar skills to make cutouts on leaves, leather and silk. It reached the top during the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912).
