A new keyboard can tell whether you are its owner. The keyboard records information about the typing pattern (模式) and sends it to a computer program. The program then checks to see if the pattern matches the right user. If not, an alarm sounds, and the computer locks the typist out. It locks out everyone else, even if the person knows the password. What's more, this equipment needs no batteries. It collects all the energy it needs from your actions of typing. Besides, the keyboard is also self-cleaning and the keys are free of damage from water, oil and dirt.
The keys of the new keyboard are made of the same inexpensive plastic that might be found on any other standard keyboard. But instead of being smooth, the keys have millions of tiny plastic nanowires (纳米线) on their surfaces, increasing the effective contact areas between the plastics and fingers. This guarantees that there's enough power to run the keyboard as someone types.
Liming Dai, a scientist, did not work on the new keyboard, but he thinks the design could be important in getting better performance from a variety of equipment. "It could also be applied to a touch screen, for example," Dai says. "Then smart phones and notepads could collect energy from someone's actions of typing or drawing."
"Future work might make the keyboard even more useful," Dai adds. "A later design might build tiny capacitors onto the nanowires," he says. Capacitors are little devices that temporarily store electric charge. Those might then be LEDs to light a keyboard in the dark.
Zhonglin Wang is a co-designer of the new keyboard. His team has built a working model of the keyboard. "If a company decides to fund this production, this keyboard could be in stores soon," says Wang.
1.How does the new keyboard tell whether you are its owner
A.By matching the typing pattern to the right user.
B.By sending alerts to a computer program.
C.By checking the right user's password.
D.By just recording information about the typing pattern.
2.Why are there many nanowires on the surfaces of the keys
A.To keep the keyboard free of damage. B.To improve the speed of typing.
C.To make the keys smooth. D.To help produce power.
3.What's Dai's attitude to the new keyboard
A.Unconcerned. B.Doubtful. C.Positive. D.Critical.
4.What is the best title for the text
A.A New Keyboard Made of Nanowires B.A New Keyboard Entirely Owned by You
C.A New Keyboard's Future D.A New Keyboard Powered by Typing

Bai Ye, director of the China Contemporary Literature Study Association, had a dialogue with a famous Canadian critic at an event in Beijing on cultural translation and studies. As they discussed Canadian literature, Bai gave examples of several authors that he liked. The Canadian critic, on the other hand, could not think of any Chinese writer whose works she had read.
"She told me to wait and she would think of one that she really loved. She didn't think of the name until we dined together later. It was Li Bai," he says. That almost hit Bai like a blow, because the poet Li lived in the Tang Dynasty (618 -907). "I study only Chinese literature, but I read a lot of foreign literary works. Obviously, foreign readers know nothing about Chinese literature. And I think it's time for us to change that situation," Bai says.
The major purpose of the event hosted at Beijing Language and Culture University was to discuss how to translate and introduce excellent contemporary Chinese literary works to overseas readers.
In China, more than 7,000 writers have registered (登记) with the China Writers Association, creating more than 3, 000 novels each year. But only some 200-plus Chinese writers have been introduced overseas.
Mai Jia, author of "Decoded" and "In the Dark", is the only contemporary Chinese writer whose works have been translated into 27 languages, says Xu Baofeng, another participant at the event. Xu says there should have been more Chinese writers whose works could be read by overseas readers, since they create really great works.
Bai says foreign readers now tend to read stories about modem urban life in China rather than tales set in rural areas in old times, such as Mo Yan's "Red Sorghum". "We promote overseas what we think are excellent works, but many foreign readers want to read the historical progress in the last 40 years since the reform and opening-up started... However, we don't have such novels. So I think we should first create some excellent works on topics such as migrant workers," says Bai.
Lu Min, vice-chairman of the writers association in Jiangsu province, dismisses such writings. "Can literature be custom-made (定做的) like other products " she asked. " Foreign readers want to learn about Chinese society through literature, which should be the function of the media," she says.
1.What does the underlined sentence mean
A.That made Bai feel unable to help. B.That made Bai feel shocked.
C.That made Bai feel much admiration. D.That made Bai feel annoyed.
2.What can we learn from the passage
A.Xu Baofeng translated "Decoded" for overseas readers.
B.Mo Yan's "Red Sorghum" has a lot to do with modern life.
C.Contemporary works on migrant workers may arouse the interest of overseas readers.
D.Most contemporary Chinese writers' works have enjoyed great popularity among overseas readers.
3.Which could be Lu Min's opinion on literature
A.It is the media's duty to spread it.
B.It tells more about a society than the media.
C.It needs to include topics such as migrant workers.
D.It shouldn't be created based on foreign readers' favor.
4.What does the passage mainly talk about
A.What topics being popular among foreign readers.
B.Foreign readers' impression of Chinese literature.
C.Promoting contemporary literature studies in China.
D.Introducing excellent contemporary Chinese literature overseas.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My husband and I travel a lot. We had a horse, a wonderful horse called Dusty. We were out of town when a one-hundred-mile horse race went right past the road in front of my house. My horse wanted to compete in the race, so she jumped over the fence and left quickly.
The next day my husband and I came back home. We found a note on the front door from the police. It said that my horse had gone back to a bam(牲口棚) on the other side of town. She had been born there eighteen years before. So we drove there. It was a lovely old farm and it was owned then by people I didn't know.
The new owners were a man, his wife and their children, two little girls aged seven and five. We saw Dusty was in the bam. "When the little girls got up that morning, they started screaming (尖叫)," their father said. That was because at the top of the hill, with the sun rising, was this beautiful horse. They attracted her to the bam. They spent the day brushing her and treating her.
The seven-year-old girl turned to me. She said, "Can I ride her before you take her back " I said, "Yes." And then I went to a store and bought a bottle of apple juice. When I returned, they told me they had always wished for a horse. But their parents really didn't have the money for one, which made them give up the dream.
I told them I was going to give them Dusty. And I wanted them to make a promise. Someday when they grow up, they each may find a little girl — a little girl they don't know — and give her some very special gifts that she is always looking forward to. They agreed.

And then more and more audiences came to watch my performances"可知,越来越多的观众来观看张逵的表演,证明他的表演被很多人喜欢。故选C。
3.考查细节理解。根据第三段中的"They paid me less, so I had to perform at bars at night"可知,他们付给张逵的钱不多,所以张逵不得不晚上在酒吧演出。由此可知他是为了多挣钱。故选A。
