A Russian spacecraft traveling to the International Space Station Thursday had to make an emergency landing when a rocket engine failed to fire. It was the latest in a recent series of failures for the Russian space program, which is also used by the U.S. to carry its astronauts to the station.
United States astronaut Nick Hague and Russian astronaut Alexei Ovchinin landed safely about 20 kilometers from Dzhezkazgan in Kazakhstan. The city is about 450 kilometers from the Russia's Baikonur space center, where Russia operates through an agreement with the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Both the U.S. space agency NASA and Russia's Roscosmos reported that the two were quickly recovered from the landing area by rescue crews. A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said, "Thank God the crew is alive" after they had landed safely.
About two minutes after launching, the three-stage Soyuz booster rocket suffered an unspecified failure of its second stage. Russia's TASS news agency said the capsule carrying the two men separated from the troubled rocket safely. This caused the capsule to drop very sharply into the Earth’s atmosphere. Parachutes(降落伞) helped slow the returning capsule. Search and rescue teams were sent to recover the crew.
Russia's RIA news agency reported that Russia has immediately suspended all manned space launches after the failure. Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin said he had ordered a state commission to carry out an investigation into what went wrong. He said Russia would share all relevant information with the U.S.
The TASS news agency said that the ISS crew had enough supplies and that the failed launch would not affect operations.
The U.S. and other nations have depended on Russia to carry astronauts to the ISS since the retirement of the Space Shuttle program in 2011. In coming years, American aerospace companies SpaceX, with its Dragon 2, and Boeing, with its Starliner, are expected to return to space.
1.What caused the failure of the launch

4.What can be the best title of the text

Looking for a true out-of-this-world vacation Then you are in luck! Texas-based start-up Orion Span announced they were taking reservations for Aurora (极光) Station, the world's first luxury hotel in space.
The pill-shaped space station will measure 43. 5 feet long and 14.1 feet wide—about the size of a large private jet's cabin—when completed. It will accommodate four guests in two private suites and two crew members, most likely former astronauts. Hovering about 200 miles above the Earth, Aurora Station will circle the planet once every 90 minutes, enabling guests to enjoy 16 spectacular sunrises and sunsets daily, as well as scores of the breathtaking northern and southern auroras that the hotel is named after.
While admiring the beauty of our planet, tourists can have non-astronaut food and drinks or entertain themselves with playing cards. Those hoping to do something more worthwhile will be able to engage in astronaut-like experiments such as growing food in a special environment. The Wi-Fi-enabled spacecraft will make it easy for guests to share their experiences with friends and family members on Earth. At the end of the week and half-long vacation, returning guests will be treated to a special "hero's welcome", similar to the one experienced by astronauts returning from a real mission.
Before the once-in-a-lifetime trip, guests will have to undergo a three-month special training learning how to move in a weightless environment, along with the basics of space flight and orbital mechanics. Also, before you start packing your bags, you will have to pay $9.5 million for the 12-day round-trip vacation.
While several companies are planning to build hotels in space, Orion Span hopes to transform sections of used rockets floating in space into hotel rooms, instead of crowding the already messy skies with additional man-made objects.

A. People can visit it now.
B. Its construction will last for about 5 years.
C. It can only hold four people.
D. It looks like a pill about the size of a large plane.

A. Stay there as long as they like. B. Cook meals as they do at home.

Tips for Successful Gift Giving
Good gift giving is an art. The perfect present can lighten one's mood or cement a relationship. Whatever the occasion, gift giving is a social ritual that requires careful thought and consideration. ①_____ Here are some useful tips for gift giving.
Don't add a small gift to a big gift. When we receive gifts in a bundle, we tend to unconsciously average out their value, so a small gift tacked onto (附加) a big one will hurt the latter's impact. ②_____
③_____ Taking a dream vacation or seeing your favourite artist in concert will give you memories that last forever. Experiences often have more thought gone into them, and they create more vivid memories. We might remember the tablet that a friend or a loved one has bought us, but not as much as a two-week holiday to Florida— the memories and the emotional attachment to experiences are greater than to physical objects.
Think like the receiver. ④_____ That might seem obvious, but it happens far less than we'd like. People tend to use gifts as jokes and encouragements to change one's ways, or to signal something about themselves rather than providing utility or happiness for the receiver.
Remember there's a reason why we say that it's the thought that counts. ⑤_____ Most people don't want lots of money spent on them—they just want you to think about them, and that can be done in lots of easy ways.
A. Give things you like best.
B. So there are a set of rules to follow.
C. Give experiences rather than things.
D. Don't forget why you are giving gifts.
E. Buy things your receiver would buy for themselves.
F. When you give others gifts, never forget to choose the expensive things.
G. When it comes to gift giving, remember that sometimes less is more.

There was a time when Whitney didn't have a lot of friends. She didn't know how to get along with others. She was too shy and reserved(内向的). She never really wanted to be popular, but she did want to have someone to share secrets and laughs with. During her previous school years, she made few friends and their relationships did not last long.
When Whitney was going to start senior high school, she was quite nervous. She was going to share a room with someone she didn't know and live in a town 300 miles away from home. There wouldn't be a single person she knew in town. She had no idea how she was going to make friends in this new environment.
However, what happened in the first class changed Whitney's life forever. In the class, every student was asked to share a little about himself/ herself. It was Whitney's turn. She told everyone what her name was, where she came from and all of other ordinary things that students share in such situations. The final question for each student was always the same: What was your goal for your senior high school Most of the students said it was to get good grades, pass the exams or something similar, but for some reason, Whitney said something entirely different. She said that her goal was to make just one good friend.
While most of the students sat in silence, one student came to Whitney, held out her hand and introduced herself. Her name was Alice. Alice asked if she could be Whitney's friend. The whole room was silent—all eyes focused on the two girls. Whitney smiled and stretched out her hand to take Alice's hand and a friendship was developed.
