It is reported that some developed countries have shipped broken parts of computers to China. Such a thing can be found every day although it is against international laws. Last month Hong Kong officers found 131,000 kilograms of broken computers, TVs and phones sent from Japan.
Things like these are called electronic waste, or e-waste. Dealing with e-waste is not an easy job because dangerous poisons(毒) like mercury(汞) and lead(铅) can be found in them. Every time an old computer breaks down, it needs to be dealt with safely. But at present, broken computer parts are usually buried. It may be hundreds of years before they are really gone in the earth.
Many places in China are polluted by e-waste. Guiyu in Guangdong Province is one of them. This town is named as “the e-waste capital of the world”. It has to deal with 1.5 million kilograms of e-waste each year, from which it makes 75 million yuan. But it comes at a cost. Many of the poisons in e-waste find their way into the environment.
Plastic is burned outdoors and chemical water is poured into rivers. Greenpeace, an environmental group, has found the air, the earth and the rivers in Guiyu badly polluted.
The Chinese government wants the country to develop, but in a way that doesn’t do harm to the environment and people’s life. This year, China presents a new protection law, the strictest one we have ever puter companies like Lenovo and Dell will be asked to take back their old computers. This is because the companies that make computers know best how to deal with them safely. Hopefully, the problem with e-waste will be solved in the near future.

When the air is polluted we wear masks to protect ourselves. What about bees and butterflies They can’t wear masks.
New Scientist magazine recently reported findings from Dr. Ryall. His study found that air pollution is bad for pollinators (传花粉者) like bees, butterflies, bugs and other insects. They can’t smell flowers because of the pollution.
Pollinators are important. They spread pollen (花粉) among plants with flowers. This helps the flower produce seeds and fruit. Without pollinators, farms cannot make food.
To do their study, Dr. Ryall’s team built some areas. They sent some bad gas (气体) in there. In these areas, they found that only 30% pollinators flew in. Once they were there, they didn’t hand around.
“The results were much more severe than we thought,” said Dr. Ryall. “The pollution was so serious that it would be bad for the growth of flowers.”
Scientist explained that bad gas can break down the scents (气味) of flowers. This makes it hard for pollinators to find their food. Shannon, a scientist in India, pointed out if we do nothing to solve the problem of air pollution, pollinators will become fewer and fewer.
26.Pollinators CANNOT be ________.
A.bees B.flowers C.butterflies D.bugs

Answer the questions:
Each year several thousand people are killed on the road in Great Britain. Every year between one and two hundred thousand people are injured, or killed in road accidents.
If you are in England and if you listen to the eight o’clock news from BBC, you will often hear news of road accidents. You may hear something like this: “On last Monday evening, at about twenty minutes to ten, a cyclist was knocked down by a truck at crossing of Oak Road and High Street in Croydon. The cyclist had died from his injuries. Anyone who saw the accident please communicate with New Scotland Yard, telephone number Whitehall one, two, one, two.”
Accidents are often caused by carelessness. If everybody obeys the rules, the roads will be much safer. How can we make the road safer
In Great Britain traffic keeps on to the left. Motor-cars, trucks, buses and cyclists must all keep to the left side of the road. In most other countries traffic keeps to the right.
Before crossing the road, stop and look both ways. Look right, look left, look right again. Then, if you are sure that the road is clear, and there is nothing coming, it is safe to cross the road. If you see small children, or very old people, or blind people waiting to cross the road, it is kind to help them to cross the road in safety.
We must teach young children to cross the road safely and set them a good example so that there will be fewer and fewer accidents and our life will be safer.

What can we do to protect our environment
Hello, everyone!
Nowadays, our hometown is trying to build a civilized city. However, the environment problems are becoming more and more serious. The air and the water are badly polluted and they have caused many problems for all the living things. The noise pollution makes it difficult for people to rest.
There are a lot of things we can do to protect the environment. Firstly, we can save things in order to save the energy. We can also reduce pollution by traveling by bike or public transportation. Last but not least, we should learn to recycle things. We must get into the habit of sorting rubbish.
If everyone does his part, all of us will live in a better environment.
