Liu Yang, who lives in Beijing with her family, is the first Chinese woman in space. When she watched the news on TV about China’s first manned space mission in 2003, she wondered what the Earth would look like from outer space. Nine years later, she got the opportunity to find out herself as China’s first female astronaut. She was chosen to crew the Shenzhou-9 manned spacecraft together with the other two Chinese. She was in charge of medical experiments during the mission. She was fully confident before the mission. She thought men and women had their own advantages in carrying out space missions. Though she is busy with her work most of the time, she’s also a good cook. Besides, she also loves reading, especially novels, essays and history books.

It’s good for Steven to join the reading club because he can forget all his problems and get used to the life in the UK.
