这里是:used to do sth.
Do动词原形;Does第三人称单数;Did过去式;To do动词不定式。 故选A。
from从……起;at在;on在…… 由后面的提示词the world可知,这里是短语in the world意为“在世界上”。故选D。
few,little表示“几乎没有”,其意义是否定的;a few,a little表示“有一些”,其意义是肯定的。

and和;but但是;or或;so所以。

Energy is everywhere. We use energy every day.
Electricity is a form of energy and this is what powers the TV, hairdryer, phone, fridge, electric toothbrush and more! Our growing need for energy is one of the problems facing the world today, because producing electricity also produces pollution.
Here are some simple ways to make a big difference when using electricity.
On or off Leaving televisions and computers on with the little red light showing still uses electricity, even though they might look like they’re turned off. To stop this you can turn them off.
Lights out! Turning lights off when you’re not in the room can save a lot of energy.
Fridge door closed. The fridge is an important part of the kitchen, because it keeps food fresh, cool and healthy! But it takes a lot of energy to keep cool, so try not to leave the fridge door open or put hot things inside.
Use the sun's energy. An increasing number of people are fitting solar panels(太阳能电池板) to their houses. They create electricity from sun-light, which can then be used to power our homes. Solar heating panels make hot water, reducing the need for electricity or gas.

Cars make our lives more convenient. But they can also be a problem, especially fossil fuel (化石燃料) cars, which are a major cause of air pollution.
To improve the environment, many countries are developing electric vehicles (EVs, 电动车). Among them, China is taking a leading role and has created the world’s largest EV market, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Last year, over 40 percent of the 753,000 EVs sold worldwide were sold in China, more than twice as many as the number sold in the United States, according to the International Energy Agency.
Chinese drivers are already big fans of EVs. Chinese auto companies, including BYD and BAIC (北汽集团), rank among the top in the world in EV sales.
“Charging (充电) an electric car is cheaper than filling up a fossil fuel car with gas,” said Wu Hao, who bought an electric car from BAIC this year.
However, there are still some problems. It can be hard to find charging stations (充电桩) and the cars can’t go far before needing to be recharged.
Some of these problems are being solved. In 2014, China had 31,000 charging stations, according to Xinhua. Now China has the world’s largest EV charging network, with more than 167,000 charging stations in total, according to the Economic Daily.
Developing EVs is one of many efforts China has made to reduce pressure on its environment after the government promised to stop increases in carbon dioxide emissions (二氧化碳排放量) by 2030. “As China goes, so will the world’s auto industry,” the Wall Street Journal said.

Wind power is a very clean source of energy. This is how wind power works. Wind makes windmills spin (旋转). When the windmills spin, they make electricity. Then we can use the electricity. A lot of people think that wind power is new, but that’s not true. For thousands of years, people have used wind to sail boats and move water. We still do those things today, but these days we mostly use wind power to make electricity.
Wind power is a very popular source of energy (能源). Most people think that we should use it more and more. First of all, it’s clean. Windmills don’t pollute the environment at all. Second, we can use wind power forever. After all, we will always have wind. Also, wind power is cheap, and it’s getting even cheaper.
A lot of people don’t understand wind power very well. They believe that there are problems with wind power, but many of those problems are not real. For example, some people say that windmills are dangerous for birds. They used to be true, but it isn’t true anymore. Old windmills killed birds because they spun very fast. New windmills spin slowly, and they aren’t dangerous for birds.
However, there are real problems with windmills. One problem is that many people think windmills are very ugly. This is a problem for people, because windmills are often in very pretty areas. Also, wind doesn’t blow all the time, so we can’t use wind power all the time. Finally, windmills are noisy. Wind power is becoming more and more common. Right now, more than 80 countries use wind power. About 2. 5 percent of the world’s power comes from the wind. For some countries, that number is a lot higher. Wind power gives Denmark more than 25 percent of its electricity.

A. Windmills break all the time B. We can’t use windmills at night
C. Windmills are too expensive to use all the time D. Wind doesn’t blow all the time

A. Most people don’t like it. B. It’s getting cheaper.
C. Denmark doesn’t use it. D. There are no problems about it.
