语法填空专项练习一(原创)
Passage 1
When we hear the word “bully(欺凌弱小者)”, we think of someone who laughs at, pushes or fights others. These experiences can do serious harm to the victims(受害者). You can better understand this if you watch the TV show Thirteen Reasons Why.
The 1 (two) season of the show started airing(公开发表) on May 18th. It tells the story of Hannah Baker, a high school student. Her classmates often pick on her, but nobody helps her. Feeling 2 (hope), she finally takes 3 (she) own life.
The most important lesson we can learn from the show is to be kind to everyone, 4 the things you do can have a big influence 5 others. More importantly, as Paul Coughlin wrote on Fox News, the show encourages us 6 (bring) out courageous(勇敢的) kindness. He said, “Courage is the 7 (important) of all the virtues(品质), because without courage you can’t practice any other virtue.”
But is teenage bullying a serious problem in the real world The answer is “yes”. According to the US National Center for Educational Statistics, more than 20 percent of US students were bullied in 2016. But only 36 percent of these victims reported it. This tells us that most students find 8 hard to talk about bullying.
But if we are courageous enough to do something about it, fewer people 9 (keep) away from bullying. According to a report by the US government, if someone tried to stop a bully, there’s 57 percent chance the bullying will stop within ten 10 (second). So, when you witness(目击) bullying, try to help the victim by standing up for them.
Passage 2
I have five children, so our house is always noisy. 1 (lucky), I love gardening and my garden helps me relax.
For a long time, I guarded the garden of peace and quiet When the children followed me into the garden, I would expect 2 (they) to be out of sight. And I would hand out tasks.
"Here: you water the onions, you dig the holes, and." Soon they would be hot or their 3 (arm) would be sore, and they would leave me to myself.
But during a recent spring, while I 4 (work) in the garden, my 13-year-old son, Josiah noticed me. He picked a tool and began helping. Working 5 a team, we finished the job in no time at all. I thanked Josiah, realizing that I'd enjoyed working with him.
6 same thing happened——one or two of the children would appear and join in the gardening from time to time. Each time, I would feel 7 (surprise) that the work was lighter because of their help.
One day, when I was picking the peas(豌豆) and having a taste alone, Abby saw me and ran over. I put several peas into her mouth. She just loved how tasty they were.
"Mama, I want the others 8 (try)them too."
Suddenly, I realized I had been wrong for long. I'd tried to keep the 9 (happy) of gardening to myself, and here was a child who couldn't wait to share with others. "Sure, honey, let's pick some. Well make a wonderful supper."
Now I enjoy all of the gardens beauties with the children. We bring the fruits back home, preparing and cooking the produce together, 10 we know that everything is better when shared.
Passage 3
It was the summer before my 1 (three) grade. Our girls’ softball team was facing real pitchers (投球手) for the first time. Before that, we could just hit the ball on the tee(球座). When the coach started pitching, hitting became hard for me. I missed every single pitch. From the side, I heard my teammate Emily 2 (laugh) at me. My face got hot and my throat felt like it had a softball stuck in. At that moment, I was starting to hate playing softball.
The next afternoon, when Mum said it was time to play the game, I told her I was sick. She allowed me to lie down for a while. So I went to my room and threw 3 (I) in bed. This was difficult for me 4 I was fine and just wanted to avoid softball.
Soon Mum came in and said, “Time to go!” She didn’t even ask if I felt better. I imagined Emily laughing from the sideline, and 5 (sudden) I really did feel sick to my stomach. I began crying loudly. Still, Mum pulled my team T-shirt over my head. She said, “You have to play for 6 rest of the season, and only after that we can talk about whether you 7 (continue) next year.” She added that practice was what I needed, not giving up. She promised to practice 8 me.
I got two 9 (hit) that afternoon, and Emily didn’t make a sound. Every week after that, I practiced at home until I got to be one of the 10 (good) hitters on the team.
That experience taught me being afraid is part of life, and I can do whatever is expected of me if I keep working and practicing.

Early the next morning Marcos rushed into Paolo’s room. “ I found 4 (you) grandfather’s map!” he cried. “We may find where he buried his gold 5 (coin) !” Paolo jumped out of bed. “I’ll start over here.” Paolo told his father. Passage 6
Last night I was driving from Harrisburg to Lewisburg, a distance of about 80 1 (mile). It was late, I was late, and I was driving fast.
At one point along an open highway, I came to a crossroads with 2 traffic light. I was alone on the road by now, but as I came near the light, it turned red, 3 I braked to a stop. I looked left, right, and behind me. Nothing. Not a car, no suggestion of headlights, but there I sat, waiting for the light 4 (change), the only human being, for 5 least a mile in any direction.
I started wondering why I refused to run the light. I was not afraid of being caught, because there was 6 (clear) no policeman anywhere around and there certainly would have been no danger in going through it.
Much 7 (late) that night, after I’d met with a group in Lewisburg and had climbed into bed near midnight, the question of why I’d stopped for that light came back to me. I think I stopped because it’s part of a contract(契约) we all have with each other. It’s not only the law, but it’s an agreement we have, and we trust each other to follow it: we don’t go through red lights.
We do 8 we say we’ll do. We show up when we say we 9 (show) up.
I was so 10 (pride) of myself for stopping for that red light. And as no one would ever have known what a good person I was on the road from Harrisburg to Lewisburg, I had to tell someone.
Passage 7
We can see the mobile phone freaks (手机控) everywhere nowadays. Can you remember when we started to take our mobiles to 1 dinner table This happens a lot, 2 (especial) when we eat out. When a dish comes, we take out our mobiles and take photos of the food first instead of eating.
After that we post the photos on Weibo or WeChat, waiting to be “ liked”. Then we may check our mobiles from time 3 time during the meal, to see whether we get “liked” or not. We just can't leave our mobiles for only a meal.
Does that sound familiar to you Do you do that often If not how do you feel when other people do that
A recent study shows that 4 (spend) time on photos of food makes the food less pleasant. To test this, some researchers did an experiment. Some people 5 (ask) to take photos before they could enjoy food. As a result, it showed that the 6 (many) photos they took the less delicious the food seemed to them. So, please don't take photos and just enjoy the food in front of you.
Besides the result, there are also some other bad influences of taking photos and posting the photos on the Internet before meals. 7 example, they will check their mobiles many times.“Does everyone like my photos I hope a lot of people like them!” 8 seems that your mobile secretly calls your name all the time, even when you with real people.
So next time when you go out for dinner with 9 (you) family or friends, how about 10 (not take) photos of food Let the food be delicious as it is and share your life with people around you.

Chinese people treat their guests with a big meal. They always present 5 (much) food than the guest can eat. On the table, the guests must be the 6 (one) to eat.
