Lead in Step 1 Revision 1. Write down the phrases. Answers: clean up, give out, used to, cheer up, volunteer to do sth. Clean-Up Day, come up with 2. Role-play A: Hi, Tom. I'm making some plans to work in an old people's home this summer. B: Really I did that last summer.
Presentation Step 2 Presentation Teach Activity 3a. This part is designed to train students' reading and comprehensive skills. Point to the picture in 3a, ask students to describe some special things about the two students. Call students' attention to the title of this article and read the instruction to the class. Have students read the article to get the main idea. At the same time, underline some expressions that difficult for them to understand. After they finish reading, invite three students to read the passage, one for each paragraph. Then lead them to read the article, call attention to the pronunciation and intonation. Step 3 Practice 1. Teach Activity 3b. Lead students to have a look at the two questions to know what they are asking for. Ask students to read the article again with the questions, find out the answers to them. As they work, move around the room checking the progress. Later, invite two students to present their answers. Check the answers and correct mistakes if any. 2. Teach Activity 3c. First, read the instruction for the students to make them know what to do in this activity and how to do it. Then, give them several minutes to do it individually. After that, prompt some volunteers to read their complete sentences. Correct mistakes if any.
