[1]A deliveryman knocked on the door of a house and said, “Your delivery!” “I'm coming... please wait.” A little girl's voice came from inside, but even after 5 minutes, no one came. The deliveryman said again, “Is there anyone taking the parcel I have to go to other places.” The girl replied, “I'm sorry. If you're in a hurry, please put the letter under the door. It'll take some more time.” The deliveryman replied, “No, I'm waiting. It's a registered delivery, so your signature is also needed.”
[2]After about 10 minutes, the door opened. The deliveryman was a little angry. He was about to shout at the girl when the door opened. He was shocked to see in front of him was a little disabled girl without legs. The deliveryman quietly gave the parcel to the girl, took her signature and then left.
[3]The little girl often lived alone in her house. Her mother and father worked far away. To take care of the girl, a servant stayed in the house with her in the mornings and evenings but the girl lived alone during the days.
[4]Later, whenever the parcel came, the deliveryman would knock on the door, call the girl and then wait patiently at the door. Gradually, interaction and attachment grew between them. The little girl noticed that the deliveryman wore an old pair of worn shoes to deliver parcels.
[5]The rainy season came. One day, when the deliveryman left, his footprints were left on the wet soil. The girl came out with a paper and put it on the print and took down a picture of his feet. The next day, she asked the servant to buy a pair of shoes of that size and keep them in her house.
[6]Thanksgiving Day was coming. The deliveryman went to the houses where he used to deliver parcels as usual. Thinking of the little girl, he couldn't help speaking to himself, “I shouldn't meet the girl empty handed during the festival.”

情节 邮递员和失去双腿的小女孩建立了友谊;感恩节时,邮递员给小女孩带来礼物,而小女孩也为邮递员准备了礼物
感情 [2] a little angry→[2] shocked→[4] patiently→[6] he couldn't help speaking to himself...

根据第二段首句“The deliveryman was surprised to see the box.”

One possible version:
Then he bought a bar of sweet chocolate for the little girl. The next day, he went to the little girl's house and knocked on the door again. When the girl appeared, the deliveryman handed her the chocolate and said, “Happy Thanksgiving Day!” The girl was surprised but happily accepted it, asking the deliveryman to wait a minute. After a while, she brought a big box and handed it to the deliveryman, saying, “This is a gift for you.”
The deliveryman was surprised to see the box. He was so moved that he could hardly utter a complete sentence. He said, “It's really sweet!” The little girl continued, “Thank you for your hard company. Open and have a look.” The man accepted the box and opened it, then he was amazed to see a pair of sports shoes. They were exactly his size. How considerate the girl was!He reached out, patting the girl affectionately. The warmth filled him and the feeling of being cared would go a long way with him.

[1]“Be sure to hang the decorations high,” said Polly, my stepmom. “Jake might mistake the colorful glass balls for his toys and try to bite them.” Jake was new to our family that Christmas. He was a beautiful brown and white dog. And, of course, he was loaded with the curiosity that made everything a toy.
[2]Two weeks before Christmas, we brought out the boxes of decorations, many of which had been in Polly's family for ages. Among them was a special box that held an entire gingerbread (姜饼人) family. They were real cookies, hung with red ribbons (丝带) and made many years earlier.
[3]Every now and then, I or one of my little sisters—Ruth and Sue—would pretend we were going to eat one, knowing that Polly would say, “You'll break a tooth! They're so old that they're rock hard.” We didn't really want to eat them, but we enjoyed making fun of Polly.
[4]Since we didn't know how Jake would react to the decorations or the Christmas tree, we were careful to put the decorations up high. Jake sniffed the tree a lot. Those first couple of days, Polly caught him starting to lift a leg on the tree twice. But he learned quickly and settled for sniffing from a distance.
[5]The weekend before Christmas, Dad and Polly took us to watch the new holiday movie. Excited, we jumped into the car with bags of home made popcorn, and off we went for a great evening.
[6]A few hours later, we returned home, only to find...a terrible mess. It wasn't the Christmas tree. In fact, we weren't sure what it was. We stood just inside the door staring at the mess. As it turned out, it was Jake's bed, which he'd destroyed. Left alone for the first time, he must have gotten bored, so he attacked it. We didn't know that the bed wouldn't be the only victim.

One possible version:
The next morning, we girls were playing when Polly in the living room let out a sudden cry. We rushed to the living room, only to find Polly pointing to the Christmas tree with a shaking finger. She was so angry that she repeated, “There, there, cookies are gone.” Following her pointing direction, we were startled to find none of those century old decorations hanging in the tree existing any more. What had happened We looked at each other, silent and confused. Polly broke the silence, “Who did this?” casting her suspicious look at us, especially me.
“It wasn't me,” I said, in case anybody thought I'd had a midnight snack of rock hard decorations. Sue, our little sister, came forward, “It's not me. I would never try them.” Ruth shook her head and shouted, “Not me. I know they are too old and rock hard.” Just at that moment, Polly was just about to give us a lecture when Jake rushed from nowhere, attempting to reach up the Christmas tree. Seeing his action, it dawned on us who was the one to blame. We couldn't help bursting out laughing. It was really an unforgettable Christmas filled with joy. From then on, we decided to take Jake with us on weekend's outings so that his curiosity won't do any damage to our home.
