Dear Allen,
I'm so delighted to know that you want to buy some souvenirs with Chinese characteristics. From my point of view, a nice Chinese brush will be a good choice
The Chinese brush, a traditional writing and drawing tool dating back to more than 2,000 years ago, has been ranked as one of the Four Treasures of the Chinese Study. In ancient China, calligraphy and paintings were mostly created with it. In my opinion, the Chinese brush is a perfect gift for your relatives.
Hope my recommendation will be of help . Wish you a nice journey!
Yours,
Li Hua

Although it’ll take weeks to harvest all of their cabbage, farmers in a town in Pingdu, Shandong province, have started preparing to sell the vegetables to overseas markets.
Li Wenbin, who runs a vegetable trading business in the town of Renzhao, said his fresh vegetable sales to overseas markets mainly in Japan, South Korea and Malaysia doubled to 20,000 metric tons last year due to high demand for kimchi, a dietary staple in South Korea.
South Korea suffered from an abnormally long rainy season and three typhoons last year that damaged large amounts of Chinese cabbage, the major ingredient(原料) for kimchi creating high demand for the vegetable.
“Based on the current performance of vegetable exports in parts of southern China, such as in Fujian province, we predict this year’s business won’t be sad,” said Li, adding that he is confident because vegetables from Renzhao are competitive in terms of quality and price.
Around 120 kilometers west of Pingdu, vegetable traders in Shouguang, Weifang, one of the country’s major vegetable production bases have started exporting this year’s carrots. Pei Shengji, manager of Zhonglong Food, headquartered in Shouguang, said the harvesting of the company’s 65-hectaretro growing base in Fujian in full swing. All of the carrots will be processed and shipped to overseas markets.
What’s more, Shandong province is developing seeds to meet diverse needs for quality crops, which helps to support the agricultural sector. “The seed developed domestically brings rich harvests. The Chinese cabbage tastes good and is good for being preserved,” he said. Besides, it’s much cheaper than foreign seeds.
Unlike Li, who can choose quality Chinese cabbage seeds developed in China, Pei has to spend more buying foreign seeds because there are no domestically developed carrot seeds available. According to Weifang’s five-year plan, the seeds of medium-and high-end vegetables such as bell peppers, broccoli and carrots will be researched and developed.
24. Why did the fresh vegetable sales to markets in South Korea double last year
A. Chinese cabbage tastes better than others.
B. Kimchi is a favourite food in South Korea.
C. China has a vegetable trade with South Korea.
D. Vegetables there experienced climatic disasters.
25. What is Li Wenbin’s attitude to Chinese vegetable trading business
A. Indifferent. B. Doubtful. C. Optimistic. D. Pessimistic.
26. What does the underlined part “in full swing” in Paragraph 6 mean
A. In ruins. B. Under way. C. In the park. D. On the scene.
27. What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs
A. Pei bought foreign carrot seeds at a lower price.
B. Overseas markets are fond of Chinese vegetables.
C. More seeds in high quality will appear in the future.
D. All the seeds developed in Shandong are not productive.

We have heard some interesting ways that 5G wireless technology might change our lives in the future.
5G, short for the 5th generation mobile communication technology, promises Internet speeds between 50 to 100 times faster than current 4G systems. While 5G is set to be used in some limited areas of America this year, much of the world is not expected to receive widely available service until 2023.
One project in Britain, however, is already testing this superfast technology on an unlikely group of Internet users—cows. The project was developed by American technology company Cisco Systems, Inc. It also receives money from the British government. Cisco says the program seeks to explore the future of 5G connectivity in rural areas around the world.
Testing areas were set up at farms in three rural areas of England. The cows are equipped with 5G-connected devices(装置) that link up to a robotic milking system, which uses sensors and machine learning to fully automate the process. System designers say technology takes over after a cow feels ready to be milked and walks toward an automatic gate. The device is designed to recognize each individual cow. It then positions equipment to the right body position for milking. During the process, machines release food for the cow as a reward.
Other 5G technology tools include automated brushes that turn on when the cow rubs(蹭) up against them. Sensors also control the amount of light to the cows' living areas depending on the weather. And, an automatic feeding system makes sure the animals always get enough to eat.
Duncan Forbes, head of the project, told Reuters that the project shows the farm's cow operations can be greatly improved with 5G technology and that the experiment provides strong evidence that 5G technology can be widely used in the future, not just on farms in Britain, but in rural communities across the world.
28.What is the purpose of Cisco Systems, Inc.'s project
A.To win financial support from British government.
B.To test the effects of 5G technology on animals.
C.To promote its technological development in Britain.
D.To expand the future use of 5G in rural communities.
29.What does the underlined word "It" in Paragraph 3 refer to
A.The project. B.The company. C.The technology. D.The group.
30.What can we learn about 5G according to the text
A.It is no worse than 4G in terms of speed.
B.It is already widely available in the world.
C.It has made improvement in operating the cows.
D.It is based on sensors and machine learning.
31.In which section of a newspaper may this text appear
A.Entertainment. B.Lifestyle. C.Education. D.Technology.

The common cuttlefish(乌贼) is just as smart as a human child when it comes to a certain cognitive test, according to a new research.
When given the sweet test, which tests a person to understand delayed satisfaction, cuttlefish passed with flying colors. In the classic psychological experiment, a child is given a sweet with the instructions that if they can resist eating the sweet treat for 15minutes, they’ll be given another and allowed to cat both.
“Cuttlefish in the present study were all able to wait for the better reward and tolerated delays for up to 50-130 seconds, which is comparable to what we see in some clever animals such as monkeys, crows and parrots,” said lead author Alexandra Schnell.
The researchers found the cuttlefish that delayed satisfaction for long had better learning performance.
Six common cuttlefish were placed in a tank with two clear boxes. One had a live grass shrimp---their favorite food and the other had a less appetizing shrimp. Researchers painted symbols on the doors. Triangle is for a delayed opening, and circle is for opening straight away. When presented with their favorite food behind the triangle door, all the cuttlefish chose to Wait.
The study also tested the cuttlefish’s ability to learn, by switching the symbols on the doors and what they meant. The cuttlefish that learnt to adapt to the changes fastest also scored the longest delayed satisfaction scores. While researchers don’t know the exact reasons for their intelligence they suspect t’s something to do with the way of gathering food.
“Cuttlefish spend most of their time hiding, sitting and waiting, having short dining time. They don’t hide when they dine, so they are exposed to their enemies. We assume that delayed satisfaction may have evolved as a byproduct of this, so the cuttlefish can benefit by waiting to choose better quality food.” said Schnell.
32. Why is the classic psychological Experiment mentioned in Paragraph 2
A. To show children’s ability to tolerate.
B. To attach importance to the researchers.
C. To state children prefer to have sweets.
D.To prove cuttlefish are highly intelligent.
33. What dogs Paragraph 5 mainly talk about
A. Why the researchers design the test. B. How the experiment is carried out.
C. How the cuttlefish recognize shapes. D. What the cuttlefish’s favorite food is.
34. The cuttlefish’s intelligence may be a result of ________.
A. the walls having cars. B. letting the cat out of the bag
C. the survival of the fittest D. putting the cart before the horse
35. Where is the passage most likely from
A. A newspaper on science. B. A website on table manners.
C. A brochure on education. D. A magazine on fashion design.

A great way to remind you to laugh more is to have daily jokes on your phone or email. Set them for a time of day when you notice yourself start to feel drained.
Have confidence in your body. You don’t have to have the “perfect body” to be confident in it. People will be more attracted to you if you dress well and carry yourself well. Snowflakes dancing in the sky, it was an awfully cold winter. Mary felt as gray as the sky outside. She struggled to get by the tough winter because her bills went up while her income went down.
Her refrigerator sat empty. Her only food consisted of peanut butter, bread and bananas, only enough for two sandwiches. Worse still, it would be four days before she got paid. As Mary prepared to sit down and eat half of her remaining food, she heard a knock at the door. Who could it be on such a freezing night Robbery scenes from films flashed across her mind. Then Mary shook her head and laughed at her foolish thought-no robber would choose her as a target. Opening the door, she saw a stranger standing outside, body trembling with cold.
“Madam, sorry to disturb you, but I'm lost and get stuck in the snow. Could you please spare a piece of bread " the stranger asked cautiously and politely in a weak but deep voice.
“I'm afraid not,” said Mary, “but I could make you a peanut butter and banana sandwich.”
“That sounds wonderful,” the stranger answered. "Mind if I wait here on the porch ”
“Yes, I do mind,” Mary replied, "but you could come in and eat it at the table.”
Not expecting both food and warmth, the stranger entered the house eagerly. Mary hurried off to the kitchen for the last four pieces of bread, peanut butter, and bananas. In a few minutes, she returned and invited him to sit down to eat what she could offer. After eating, the man thanked and said goodbye to her.
Looking outside, Mary hesitated a moment and said, "If you don't mind, you can sleep on the sofa.” "That would be good enough," responded the man gratefully.
Mary went into her room, and locked the door. The next morning, when she woke up, she remembered the man. "How will I tell him I have nothing for breakfast " she asked herself. She dressed, unlocked, and opened the door slightly.
