Good afternoon! My dear judges. My name is xxx. Today I’m going to talk about Lesson 28 of Unit 4 “Advice on how to keep healthy”, Tsinghua Primary English, Book 7. This lesson is mainly about reviewing the learnt emotional parts of the unit and integration of the Grade3 and Grade 4.
Now, I will explain this lesson through the following aspects.
I. Teaching contents
Lesson 28 of Unit 4 “Advice on how to keep healthy”, Tsinghua Primary English, Book 7. This lesson is mainly about reviewing the learnt emotional parts of the unit and integration of the Grade3 and Grade 4.
II. About the Students.
The students are in Grade 4. Most of them are active and also have a strong thirst for knowledge plus the desire for performance. The students in this age group also have the good memory and ability to imitate. After learning English for more than 4 years, they have had some basic English knowledge. They are willing to learn and good at imitation. They can master the knowledge with the help of the teacher. The students have become accustomed to group cooperative way to learn. It ensures every single student participate in the team practice who will take turns to explain their own point of view.
Ⅲ.Teaching aims
1.Aims on the knowledge
1. Students can sense and summarize the sentences and words about the unit.
2. Students are able to express their own good habits and also the advice on others.
2. Aims on the abilities
(1)To enable Ss to understand and express their own mind.
(2)To enable Ss to cultivate the correct idea of their own good habits.
3. Aims on the emotion
(1) In this lesson, the emotional aim is to help Ss cultivate and foster their abilities of working in groups.
(2) To educate students to cultivate the good habits as well as be positive in daily life.
Ⅳ.Teaching importance and difficulty
1. Important points
1. Students can master the key sentences, be able to own a bold attempt to say out their own mind.
2.To develop children’s optimistic and positive attitude towards life.
2. Difficult points
Be able to express their own way of good habits by using the key sentences learnt before.
Ⅴ.Teaching methods
In this lesson, I will mainly use “Task-based teaching method”, “Communicative language teaching method” and so on.
Ⅵ. Learning methods
As an English teacher, we should teach Ss not only knowledge but also the emotional education. So in this lesson, I’ll teach Ss the following learning methods: comparative method, learning strategies, cooperation, etc.
Ⅶ. Teaching aids
CAI, “David” pictures, computer, flash cards and so on.
Ⅷ. Teaching procedures.
I will finish this lesson in five steps.
Step1. Greeting and Warming-up
1.Greetings.
2.Let ss find teacher’s bad habits and see the messy bag to lead the picture book “David goes to school”(By David Shannon),let student give the advice and answer a series according questions.
【Purpose】Through the TPR let students think actively . Lead the renowned picture book” David goes to school” (By David Shannon) naturally. As well as the emotional education of the unit.
3.Lead in the picture book” David goes to school” T:Daisy has a good friend, His name is David. Do you want to know a story about him (Show the picture of the hero)
Ss: Yes, we want.
T: Let’s listen the story.
(Put “David” on the blackboard)
【设计意图】 Elicit the picture book to arouse the kids’ curiosity about the next contents of the class. Follow the rules of listen ,speak , read and write. Listening comes the first. Get ready for the next step and also permeate the emotional education.
Step 2. Presentation
1. Talk about the different habits and advices about what makes your mom/dad happy
【Purpose】Ask about some questions about their daily habits, To get ready for the whole class.
2.Review the key sentences and make a connection with students themselves.
【Purpose】The easy phrases and sentences is easier for the kids to begin the class. Boost the kids confidence as well.
3. Present the key patterns, let students read it quickly and then after the tape. Make the comparison with good habits and bad habits.
【Purpose】 Elicit another famous picture book(“You are special” by Max Lucado), to make this class more wonderful. Let students to stick the golden stars and the grey dots to good habit and bad habits respectively.
4. Ask students to watch Daisy’s good habits and also the advices on how to keep healthy for students. Enlarge the students’ recognition of the unit. Further understand the text and use the key sentences they learnt before.
【Purpose】Let students watch and guess the picture teacher drew. Arouse the student’s curiosity and say out the key sentences actively. At the same time, consolidate the students’ ability to brain-storming more effectively.
5. Mind map
【Purpose】Create the free space for students to ponder over. To sum up by themselves and to express themselves well.
Step3. Practice
1. Finish the “draw the faces” and “puzzles”. Teacher leads Ss to think and finish the exercises correctly.
【Purpose】Let students follow the plot of the story, To help little David to finish his homework more effectively and also the advices on how to keep healthy for himself. (“listen and draw the faces for good habits and bad habits” Let’s solve the puzzles”) To further consolidate the cooperation between each other and the teacher.
Step 4. Production.
1. Make up a new story of the whole story about David.
【Purpose】Let students make the whole story more complete and nicely. Let students say out their own sentences. To eliminate the “quite corner” by team work, let every student to say by themselves.
2. Read the text in roles, consolidates the reading skill.
【Purpose】Let students to read is the most important part in “English New curriculum standard”. Let students to read indifferent ways to arouse their interest at utmost.
3. Volunteers show and explain their new passage.
【Purpose】Encourage the students to read and also to get ready for the next step.
4. Listen to the tune and compose their own new song , a song to feel the music and talk about the good habits and the bad habits.
【Purpose】Let students enjoy the tune to compose the song by themselves. Lets students get a further understanding of the good habits.
5. Extension
Tell students have the healthy motion, cultivate the good habits and influence others as well. Let students to put the “grey dots” into the trashcan.
【设计意图】 Let students to throw the“ grey dots” into the trashcan. Not only review the key sentences but also put the whole class into the climax, let the emotional education play the important role in the whole class,
Step 5. Homework assignment
1. Cultivate at east two habits and persist in three months.
2. Read the sentences about habits to your mom.
【设计意图】:Consolidation after t the class is the most significant part in the whole teaching.
