Are you familiar with（熟悉） these words？ They are from I Have a Dream， the speech that was a march（游行） in Washington， DC in 1963.
The march was an important event in the US history．
In the early 1960s， black people and white people in the US could not go to the same schools， sit next to each other on buses， or even use the same water fountains（喷泉式饮水器）. At that time， many white people thought they were superior to black people．
People wanted change. They started the civil rights movement（民权运动）. It reached its height with the march in 1963 in Washington， DC. The march brought around 250，000 people to the Lincoln Memorial（林肯纪念堂）．
Through their efforts（努力）， the Civil Rights Act was signed（签署） into law in 1964. It gave all Americans the same rights in terms of working， voting（选举） and using public facilities（设施）.
