过去进行时
结构：was/ were + doing (动词-ing形式)
用法：表示过去某时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。
1. 表示过去某个时间点正在发生的动作。
He was cooking at that time.
2. 表示过去某段时间正在发生的动作。
I was talking on the phone from 7 to 8 last night.
考向1：过去进行时的用法
定义：表示过去某个时刻或某一时间段内正在进行或发生的动作。
常用的时间状语：at this / that time yesterday, at six yesterday morning, all night等。
构成：was/were+动词-ing形式
当主语是第一人称单数形式或第三人称单数形式时，
be动词用was，其余人称用were。
过去进行时
过去进行时 (The Past Progressive Tense)
基本用法
过去进行时表示在过去某个确定的时间点或某一段时间里正在发生的动作。因此，原则上，常和表示过去的时间状语连用，如：then, at / that time, yesterday, last night。
e.g. What were you doing at nine last night
I was playing volleyball with my friends yesterday afternoon.
2.由 while 和when 的时间状语从句
1.常用时间状语： at 7:00 last night, at that time, at this time yesterday, yesterday morning, from 10 to 12,all morning, the whole morning…
Tom was running to the bus stop at 7:50 this morning.
Tom was waiting for the bus from 7 to 9 this morning.
Tom was writing a story at this time yesterday.

句型
肯定句：主语 + be (was / were) + 现在分词 + 其他
e.g. He was strolling（散步） around the park at the time yesterday.
When I came home, they were cooking in the kitchen.
否定句：主语 + be (am / is / are) + not + 现在分词 + 其他
e.g. We aren’t enjoying our trip.
John isn’t running in the park.
一般疑问句：Be (Was / Were) + 主语 + 现在分词 + 其他？
e.g. — Is she still studying abroad
— Yes, she is. / No, she isn’t.
— Look! Is the bird flying in the sky
— Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.
特殊疑问句：疑问词 + be (was / were) + 主语 + 现在分词 + 其他？
e.g. — What was he doing at the time of the fire yesterday
— He was studying at the library then.
— When were you dancing yesterday
— I was / We were dancing last night.

Tom was doing his homework.
The telephone rang.

过去进行时的基本用法
eg：I was watching TV the whole night.
We were having classes all day yesterday.
表示过去某一段时间内一直进行的动作，常与the whole day, all day yesterday等时间状语连用。有时没有明显的时间状语，可根据上下文语境判断。
eg：Miss Li was shopping at this time yesterday.
I was looking for my lost cat at nine last Monday morning.
表示过去某一时刻正在进行或发生的动作，与表示过去某一时间点的时间状语连用，如at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, at this time yesterday等。
现在分词变化形式（+ing）（直 去 双 少）
